Good evening and good morning to everyone. Same here Sue - looks like another lovely day coming up.
Stay warm, Brits. Wish you could come and spend the day with us. It might help if you go to sleep thinking about it and perhaps you will have a pleasant dream of us sitting in the sun, having a chat.

That is just rubbing it in Berona. It has been so cold today, I am glad to be in with the heating up high and all the curtains closed. The wind is getting worse all of the time

I've just had a look at the weather forecasts for various areas in the UK and it's not looking good. Very cold and very windy:-(

Good evening Linda and good day to you Berona and Sue .

The wind is howling here as well and all three of my cats are looking for somewhere warm to curl up ....lol

I think Tec might be getting a hammering , he is right on the coast I believe ?

Berona

Berona Report 11 Nov 2010 21:37

I wasn't rubbing it in, Linda. I just thought that if you dream like that, you might enjoy and pleasant respite from reality for a few hours.

Tec's only metres from the beach I think Amanda - he and the Duchess may be on their raft out at sea as we speak.

I will see if I can dream about nice Aussie beaches tonight then Berona. Am I allowed to have nice hunky men in my dream?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Nov 2010 21:45

You may certainly have tall handsome sun-tanned Aussies in your dream, Linda;-))

Thank you Sue. You can have pale shivering Englishmen in return

Berona Report 11 Nov 2010 21:50

Dream away, Linda - it's YOUR dream! Just be careful not to stay out in the sun for too long. I did that a few times and suffered badly for it - a whole week sleeping on my tum when I had bad sunburn.
Speaking of sunburn. All of my life I have burnt, peeled and returned to fair skin with freckles and yet, my ancestors, although all Brits, emigrated at varying times between 1788 and 1879. My OH grew up in Lancashire and emigrated at the age of 24 - and never knew what suburn was, although he spent most of his non-working time outdoors. He always "tanned nicely". Where is the justice in that?
I'm grateful that the children seem to have inherited his type of skin. It just doesn't seem fair that I'm the only one of the family who burns!

Tecwyn Report 11 Nov 2010 21:51

Good Morning/Evening,

What a day this has been. I had to take the Duchess to the doctors, and it was really difficult driving the car. The coast road is actually a shelf on the mountain, because the mountain goes right down to the sea. The car was being buffeted all over the road.
Tonight we have Storm Force 10, and gusts of over 80 mph. The noise is horrendous. Before it went dark there were huge waves hitting the beach.
We have no tv, as the sattelite reception packed up about 7pm.
Took the dog in the garden just now and got blown sideways into the wall.
My thoughts are with the lads out on the Irish Sea tonight, stay safe gentlemen.

Tec.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Nov 2010 21:56

That sounds really bad Tec,I am glad that you are inside safe and sound. I hope Lanto has the sense not to want to go out again

Amanda2003 Report 11 Nov 2010 21:57

Hark at you two Sue and Linda , with your man swapping ...whatever next ! lol

Tec ......I hope that you and the Dutchess get through the night unscathed it sounds horrendous : (

OH was just saying that listening to this wind howling reminds him of when he was a lad and how he would always be thinking about his Dad in this weather , as he was usually on a Lightship in the North Sea . I hope that any one out at sea is safe tonight : (

Glad to see you posting on here Tec. We have been wondering about you. I hate the sound of howling wind. Haven't heard it for a long time and don't want to hear it. Probably won't now that I live in a very sheltered area.
I take it you won't be interested in my post about sunburn?

That must have been scarry for you, driving on that road. I don't blame you if you don't go out unless you really have to. Take care if you do.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Nov 2010 22:00

I am sure that you will be allowed an Aussie dream as well Amanda

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 11 Nov 2010 22:03

I'm not sure I'd want one Linda ......it would be bound to have a Spider in it ....lol

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Nov 2010 22:05

lol Amanda, I forgot about the spiders, but it is going to be a nice dream not a nightmare

Please batten down the hatches Tec...

I know how hard it is to walk horizontally when in Wellington's gales. Did one Cook Strait crossing where the waves were flying over the top of the boat in the viewing area so went down to the bar. You could not tell who had been drinking everyone was wobbling all over the place.

I burn too Berona - I used to burn every weekend as a youngster and spent one New Year lying on my stomach with a blistered back. Now I have to watch skin cancer all the time.

Fine spells increasing today - so may go out - it is very "still" out there.

All men in Australia are tall, dark and handsome - aren't we lucky?

I hope you've battened down the hatches, Tec. It's worrying for anyone who has family out at sea. Generations of women waiting on the shore for their men to come home safely. I have a couple of ancestors who didn't.
