Hi Amanda. Do you have a large collection? Carnelians are such a rich colour. I have a couple of amethysts and some rose quartz. I'm not a collector but they look pretty.

Sue .....my Dad collected all sorts of rocks and minerals and I kept some of his , I do admire the beauty of them .
I just can't stop myself from picking Carnelians up off the beach ( force of habit I guess ....lol ) , I have a large jar full of polished ones and a few little pots of ones that are waiting to be polished . I just like looking at them when they are all lovely and shiny ....lol

I've put my small amount into a glass sugar bowl and they look lovely. Do you polish them yourself?

Yes Sue , before my Dad passed away he let us have his " tumbler " it is a a little machine that grinds and polishes the pebbles over a period of time ( several weeks )

It would be nice if you could have one made into a pendant on a chain - especially one your Dad gave to you.

My parents had a shop ( back in the 70s ) , they made jewellery from stones found on the beach ..... that's what started my Dad off in the interest....lol
I was at a car boot sale in the summer and spotted one of their pendants on a stall , might have even been one that I made way back then .....lol

Were you able to buy it? What a lovely shop that must have been to visit and be tempted.

Did Daisy have a wonderful birthday. She is gorgeous and really looks like you.

I didn't buy the necklace Sue , I actually have several bits of the jewellery they made ( I don't tend to wear jewellery anyway ....lol ) .
It was a nice little shop , if you look at my album " a few from the past " on FB there is a picture of me and Mum pretending to look at something in the shop . Unfortunately the business didn't do very well and they closed down after three or so years .

Daisy had a lovely birthday , thank you . She had had a few friends sleep over on Saturday night and they went bowling apparently ( a strange activity for a bunch of six year olds I thought ? ) .
She doesn't look quite a lot like me but far more beautiful I think ....lol

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,

Today was a nice still Autumn day, quite mild at 8 C, so Ispent the whole day in the garden, tidying up, cutting back dead stuff, and lightly hoeing the borders. I also at last got the bulbs planted before it became to late.
Tomorrow is forecast very wet and windy.

Hope everyone is well.

Good evening Tec ...... I'm very pleased to hear you have finally got those bulbs into the ground , I've been worrying about them ! .....lol

I thought about pottering in the garden but it was just a bit to nippy for my liking .

Hi Amanda,

I just knew you were worried about my bulbs, that's why I made a special effort. I hate to see you worrying like that LOL.

Hello again all.

I've been out doing the bird feeding, watering, socialising (with the birds) bit. If you don't the cockatoos yell at you all day. And they are noisy things.

Then I got sidetracked into sorting out some of my cosmetic things in the bathroom and have thrown out quite a lot that I don't use any more. Then tried out a foundation I haven't used for years and now, guess what? I'm fully made up (which is most unusual for me) and I'm not going anywhere. Thinking of going to town to check the P O box because I haven't been since last week.

Our day here is lovely and sunny. It's currently onl7y 21c in the house but it's warmer outside. Blue sky so far but we are being told by the weather man it's cloudy, going to rain today and then thunderstorms tomorrow. He certainly isn't looking out my window. But then, I wonder if those people have a window??

Pam.

Hello Pam,

The cockatoos are very social birds aren't they - I've known people here buy them as pets, stick them in a cage, and go out to work all day. Then they wonder why they have problems, feather plucking etc. Poor birds.

Hope you have a good trip to Brisbane, and that the weatherman is wrong, yet again, in his forecast of thunderstorms.

Tec.

Hello Tec and Pamela.

Thought I'd missed you Pam but here you are back again. We had a flock of black cockatoos flying overhead yesterday - what a row. So noisy:-)) They are beautiful but they cause so much damage to fruit trees.

I was hoping to go for a drive today as there are a couple of things weighing heavy on my shoulders. It's too wet and miserable to enjoy going out on the road so we'll give it a miss and I'll climb the family tree instead.

Berona Report 16 Nov 2010 21:57

Good evening/morning to everyone.

Dulll and overcast here, but still dry - as yet.

My daughter has a very big tree in her front garden - planted many years before she bought the place - and it shades most of her front lawn, and the neighbour's front lawn (but they like it) and all of the nature strip out to the road. The sulphur crested cockatoos love it and live in it. However, they have no respect for nicely mown lawns. They bite off a twig, eat what they want of the leaves and buds - then drop the twig on the lawn. Any unsuspecting car driver who parks in the gutter, takes home a hard-to-wash souvenir - and any humans who get too close are screeched at.

Good Morning Sue,
Good Evening Linda,

Sue, Sorry your weather is disappointing today, but climbing into your tree is a good idea if you need distracting I find.

Yes Linda it is a little cool out there tonight, I've just come in from the garden without a jacket on.

Amanda2003 Report 16 Nov 2010 21:59

Nithering sounds a tad unpleasant Linda , are you having a cold night ?

Tec , I had visions of those poor bulbs putting out shoots in their packet ....lol.... I hope they look lovely in the Spring .

Pam ....all dressed up with nowhere to go ? : ))

Sue I hope you can find some other way of dislodging the weight on your shoulders if a drive is out of the question .

Cool is not the word for it Tec. We have just walked back from cinema duty and the pavements are all frosty.

Having cockatoos in the wild sounds so strange to me Berona
