Hi Sue,

I've been bust all day doing odd jobs, cleaned the cooker, took a door down and planed the bottom because it was catching on a carpet, re-hung it, and a few other agravating little jobs that I keep running past.

There is a frosty old goat on the thread , he is being quiet and waiting to be noticed ..........lol

Good morning to Tec and his Duchess. Hope all is well with both of you.

Just what have you been up to to-day, Tec? Sitting quietly in a corner sounds like you are hiding. What from?

SueMaid Report 20 Nov 2010 21:49

Hi Amanda - the day is glorious. I think we'll probably go down to our local markets. Just strolling around is heaven on a day like today.

The kids won't squabble over the chair as they all have their own. I really bought it because I like old caneware. It looks good next to the old cane table that you can see in my photos on FB.

Careful Sue - you know what happens when you go to markets. If these markets sell plants - you're a goner!

Amanda2003 Report 20 Nov 2010 21:56

Well I hope you have a lovely stroll round the market Sue , I did the same thing in the week but it wasn't as alluring as you've made it sound as it was perishing cold .....lol

SueMaid Report 20 Nov 2010 22:14

I know Berona - but even I can see that there has to be a limit to the number of plants you can pot or plant in the garden.

Do you have good markets where you are Amanda? I like our local market as it's more trash and treasure than new stuff. We love digging through boxes of old stuff - it's amazing what you find. A few years ago I found a Wedgewood bowl with a lid. I asked the stall holder what he wanted for it and he said $2. I bought it before he changed his mind:-))

Hi Amanda, and Berona,

We're fine thankyou Berona, it's a little on the cold side this evening, about minus two, with a big bright moon - think we might get our first frost tonight.

Amanda, You be careful this old goat doesn't turn up in your garden nibbling your plants lol.

Sue , it sounds as if your talking about , what we over here would call a " car boot sale " ? Our " market " is in the centre of town and has stalls on a Wednesday and Saturday , selling clothes , handbags , DIY , pet products , etc etc basically a variety of things , the market stalls are not permanent fixtures , the stall holders travel about to different towns during the week , although there are some permanent stalls and the ones that sell chips and fresh veg are always open ( except Sundays ) .

I like a rummage in a box of junk , we go to car boots to do that : ))

Amanda2003 Report 20 Nov 2010 22:28

Hello Tec ...... you've reminded me of a forgotten memory of Annabelle the goat , she lived in the disused drill hall behind our house , when I was a child , the shout went up one day that she had escaped , she was found eating the washing of someones line a few hours later .....lol
I'd have a pink fit if I found a goat in my garden : 0

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 20 Nov 2010 22:35

Yes it's the same as your car boot sales Amanda - I've been to a few of those:-)) We went to one near Hornsea in 2008 and my brother was able to buy a couple of military badges. He's made a display of our military history so he was really pleased to get cap badges for the regiments ancestors were in.

I've also been to the town markets and enjoyed them too. Especially the markets in Stockton.

Amanda , I like goats, but they are the daftest things. A friend of mine keeps sheep on the mountain, but a neighbours goat keeps escaping and getting in with the sheep. The only way he can catch the goat is to surround it with sheep in a tight circle using the dogs, then bring the whole lot down the mountain into the yard, and catch the silly goat that way.

As we have vacant land behind us we used to have a goat to keep the grass down. Long grass means snakes in warm weather and the threat of a fire. Someone baited the poor thing and we were so upset we never got another one. Lately OH has been talking about getting another one as it's a big job cutting both front and back lawns as well as the large area over the fence.

Amanda2003 Report 20 Nov 2010 22:46

Sue ..... I don't go to car boot sales often , my house is full to bursting with ornaments , books etc , I really ought to have a big sort out and do a boot sale myself to shift some of it ....lol

Tec , I wonder if the goat wishes it was a sheep then ?

Annabelle was a source of interest to us as kids , we used to get through the big fence into the drill hall grounds to play but we had to work out where she was first , she was on a long tether and we knew how much distance we had to give her .......but we misjudged it once and all hell broke loose as a gang of us tried to get back through the hole in the fence at the same time ......she butted our friends bottom as he was the last one through , we thought she was killing him and ran indoors screamimg .....LOL
