Berona Report 24 Nov 2010 10:33

I'll say hello to you Pamela. I've been playing around with the computer because there isn't anything worth watching at this time of the year.
I am recording City Homicide to watch some time tomorrow - and FF on the commercials.

So sad about the miners, but I think we all knew this was coming. No use comparing it with the one in Chile - that was a gold mine - no gas, as with a coal mine. Rescuers are being criticised, but I hope that will fade as the realisation hits home that there was nothing they could do - and the people were possibly already dead. The waiting must have been horrendous for them - no wonder they are venting their anger on somebody. That's normal - needing to lash out.

Good evening Brits. Hope you have had a nice day (albeit a cold one).

Good Morning Berona,

The site has been down for ages, just popped in to see if there was life, and there you were - emerging through the fog - maybe they are only letting you post!

Tec.

Hello Berona, I couldn't get into the site earlier, it said it was down for maintenance again
It is bitterly cold here, there is lots of snow on the hills just a few miles away. It hasn't got down here yet, but it is on its way

I just got an email about my standard membership and it says amongst other things

Exclusive Loyalty Discount – As a valued member of Genes Reunited we would like to offer you an exclusive 20% off when you renew your subscription. You have to renew within 1 month of your expiry date to receive your 20% discount.

No doubt that is a precursor to them putting the prices up. Mine is not due until next August

Good Evening Linda,

I've got Berona's knitted nightcap on, so lovely and warm.

The mountains are white with snow here and look very pretty, but thankfully nothing at ground level. It is also perishing cold here too.

Tec..................9-41pm GMT.

I need loads of sympathy. Son in law to be was ill while we were there, he had severe man flu and spent lots of time in bed.
My daughter now has a horrible cold as does OH.
He spent the morning in bed keeping warm. I ache all over and feel generally yukky. I of course did not spend the morning in bed, I went to the supermarket and caught up on the washing and ironing etc.

I was trying to remember what was posted yesterday, but my brain aches. I do remember Diane telling us about her consultant. A new hip sounds pretty drastic. I know they only last for about ten years or so and then you need a replacement. They can only do them twice which is why they won't do them when you are young.

I know a little bit about this because my niece who is only 23 but she needs a new hip due to a congenital problem. She is going to have a huge operation to reconstruct the socket instead.

Berona Report 24 Nov 2010 21:51

Oh dear, Linda. It looks like the bug has got to you, too. Take care and keep warm - and be contented with the fact that you got some things done before you went down with it. (IF you go down with it, that is - I hope you don't). So early in your Winter, too. Do you get the flu needle each year?

I used to get flu early in winter and it would last all winter, but from the time I began getting the flu needle, I have never had more than a cold in winter. I know it's only supposed to prevent certain types of flu, but it sure helps me!

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 24 Nov 2010 21:55

I am sorry to hear that you all have colds, and yes I do sympathise - but you didn't have to go to the supermarket, or do the washing and ironing - I'm sure it would have kept - you could also have spent the day in bed keeping warm, alongside your sensible OH.

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Tec..........9-54pm.

I'm lost. I had the last post on top of page 1, the I submitted another post and found myself on the bottom of this page (1365). How did I get there?
I too, have an email from GR telling me of the joys of being a standard member, Linda. I read part of it. Maybe I should go back and read the rest of it. Trouble is - I might lose my place in the thread!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Nov 2010 21:59

Tec, that is not sympathy!!!!!
We had no milk so I needed to go. I haven't been since last week, so we were low on all sorts of things

I am not old enough to get the flu jab Berona, you have to be over 65 unless you have other health problems, which I don't

Good morning Berona , I hoe your having a nice warm day today .

Good evening Tec and Linda .

I've been having the same trouble as you all have in getting on here . I don't mind changes but it would be better if they just got on with it , instead of fidderling about for days and days .

Linda , I hope you and your OH feel better soon . The " lurgy " hasn't reached Norfolk yet ( as far as I know ) but I expect this cold weather will result in coughs and colds popping up all over the place.

Tec , you've painted a lovely picture there with your discription of snow on the mountain tops : ))

Diane ( when you look in ) , I hope the Dr can give you something to tide you over , for the pain , until something can be done about your hip .

Berona

Berona Report 24 Nov 2010 22:13

I thought that may be the case, Linda. However, I understand that here, it can be 'bought'. My son has been paying to get it for a few years now. This might not be possible where you are, but worth enquiring about.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Nov 2010 22:33

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 24 Nov 2010 22:50

Goodnight Linda,
Do stay in bed tomorrow, if you can, and you're still unwell.
Sleep well - keep warm.
Tec.

Berona, We've both had the flu jab because of age, and health issues, but I think you can pay for it if you don't qualify for a free jab. I feel that it's worth having.

Amanda, I was quite surprised to see the snow on the mountains today. It was a very clear sunny day, so I could see the summit of Snowdon glistening in the winter sun - we have our first frost tonight....Brrr.

Tec............10-50pm.

Amanda2003 Report 24 Nov 2010 22:55

Goodnight Linda ....sleep tight .

Tec , I bet you never tire of your views , it all sounds fantastic to me .

We had a ground frost several days ago and it's certainly very chilly tonight.

I think I shall be turning in soon , I'm feeling the urge to hibernate ....lol

Night all and Good day to you day timers .

Sorry I left you all. Had an email from a former neighbour to say another of the neighbours has passed on, so had to send a few emails before I returned here - and found everyone going to bed.
Has anyone seen Sue? Hope all is well with her. I might have missed something with being upside down and downside up all the time. Let us know if all is well, will you, Sue?
