Tec it was a good job that you went and did that shopping when you did as you wouldn't want to be driving in that frozen slush.
I buy my gas on a Pay as you go card meter and I can't believe how much gas I have used since Tuesday night ( £8-00 ) at this rate I will be putting between £28 to £30 a week in the meter, and it isn't even the middle of winter yet.

Good Evening Linda,
I hope that you and your OH are now feeling better, and not snowed in.
It's not that I'm really insane, just overly enthusiastic lol.

I did go out to do Meals on Wheels, luckily we had no more snow overnight. The main roads were fine, but the side roads and pavements were treacherous. .
I was glad to get back home. I feel better than yesterday, but my head still isn't keeping up with my body.

I quite often leave my head somewhere and my mind wanders off on its own as well.

Hello Persey,I haven't actually left my head, it is just lagging behind.

Diane, if your employer goes into respite care, does that mean you will get the week off while his mother recuperates?

Diane

Diane Report 26 Nov 2010 22:13

Hi Persey - hope you're well.

Diane - you didn't misunderstand. I was rambling so anyone could be forgiven for getting confused:-))

I often find my head lags behind the rest of me - sometimes it races ahead and that can be worse.

Sort of on a piece of elastic?

What I would like to know is why the pages on this thread are shrinking we were on 1381 for ages and ages and now it is a lot less though I can't see it at the moment because I am on page 1.... am I in "AD or BC" I would like to go back and have a chat with Socrates as he caused me no end of trouble in an assignment I did once at Uni.

I am okay Diane - very hot here - was going to mow the front lawn but it will have to wait for the cool of the evening, did the back lawn last night.

Perse, it isn't warm here, it will be minus three or four overnight. It was positively warm during the day, it made it to plus four

Persephone

My uncle sometimes wore plus fours.

Good Morning Persey,

There are a lot of big hairy New Zealander's heading for Wales to eat our rugby team alive tomorrow.

I too would like to go back - I am fascinated by Archimedes and his screw. As an important an invention as the wheel in my opinion.

Tec.............10-27pm.

Wow - that warm Linda!!

OH has just asked me to pass on a message - "if the snow hasn't gone by the time we plan to visit the UK we're not going"......yeah right:-))

I must be off - OH wishes to go to the markets. Laters.....as the young'uns say.

Stay warm or cool and safe.

Tec - please rephrase your comment about Achimedes;-))

Hello all, and thank you all for your birthday greetings. I blame Facebook. I didn't know that it sends birthday reminders. The first one I get will probably be February.
As Sue and other have said, summer doesn't start here until December 1, and the reason is allegedly that the NSW Corps and their successors officially changed uniforms that day. Possibly had a bath as well. I do remember vividly a day in September when the temperature reached 100 in the old measure. Not sure of the exact year, but I was at high school and doing an exam in the school hall. Possibly my trial Intermediate, as the real thing was in November.
One of the attractions of living on the coast in this latitude is that it never snows. They get some snow once or twice a year in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney which rise to more than 1000 metres (3300 feet), and on the main range, Further south, snow is more common and I have been told that it has even snowed in Queensland, I presume on the highest peaks only.
We had a power failure at work yesterday so I came home early. I worked on my Ancestry tree. Not many new names, but I am a bit obsessive-compulsive and like surnames in capitals and dates in the universal format e.g. 27 Nov 2010. So I have been checking and cross-referencing Ancestry hints and putting names, dates and places in my preferred format.
And I have been looking at Facebook. My sister put up a post saying that she was at computer class learning to use Facebook when she could be home watching the cricket on TV. Maybe getting her priorities wrong. Although it is great that she is learning to use a computer. My other sister and I gave her one for her birthday.
It is now 9.30 so shower, shave and shampoo and off to face the day.

Linda my employer is as you know in restbite now while I have a week off, he will return home next Monday and I am back in work on the Tuesday, he will be home until Saturday and go back into emergency restbite on the Sunday, I am going to stay with his mum on the Sunday night so that I can take her to hospital for 7-30am Monday morning and then when she come's home I will go and pick her up, the consultant told his mum that she will need 4wks to recuperate so he will probably stay in restbite for all the time she need's to be fit enough to look after him again. The thing is my next week off is just after he is due to return home so she said he will probably be away on restbite for 5wks. As for time off while he is away, I'm guessing she will need me to do some housework, shopping but not the hour's I would normally do and it will mean I will probably have most of the christmas holiday's off ( I hope so ) it would mean my first time off over the christmas time in 4yrs.
