Where have you all gone?

If it's warm - can I come too?

Tec.....................9-10pm

It is nice and warm in here Tec, but that is because of the central heating

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Nov 2010 21:21

Good Evening Linda,

I'm also warm in this room as the heating has been on all day, and we have a fire - if it wasn't for having to walk about the garden every 30 minutes with the dog I could stay warm lol.

Every thirty minutes? that seems a bit excessive. Either he likes the snow or he has a bladder problem

Hello you two:-))

It's cooled down quite a bit from yesterday and is overcast and looking like rain. If it doesn't rain I'll work in the garden for awhile and get rid of those pesky weeds.

Have either of you done anything interesting today?

Good evening Tec and Linda ...... I hope you are both holding up ok in the cold and snow .

Good morning to you Sue , I hope you manage to get out into your garden today .

I'm feeling stiff and very aching , I spent five hours today helping my eldest daughter to wall paper one wall in her flat . It's been many a year since I attempted such a task as paper hanging and rather stupidly I thought I'd got away lightly with doing such a physically demanding task .
I can hardly move now and just about everything hurts .....lol
Her living room wall looks splendid though : )))

I think like most elderly gentlemen he has a bladder problem, plus as he is scared of the dark, and doesn't see too well I have to follow with the torch - I don't really mind, he's my mate after all.

Went to the supermarket this morning - it was manic - no where to park whichj is most unusual at this time of year. A lot of panic buying going on, but a lot of people here live in elevated positions in cottages, hill farms etc. If we have the heavy snowfall forecast then they would be trapped in the hills for days.

Tec..............9-35pm.

Good morning Sue and good evening Linda and Tec. Good to know you are keeping warm.

Overcast and humid here with rain/thunderstorms forecast. Let's see if it happens.

Hello Amanda - at least you got the room done. We hated putting up wallpaper and decided long ago not to do it anymore. Having said that our next door neighbour has a beautiful feature wall in their living room and I Iove the wallpaper they chose.

I can well understand people stocking up because of the bad weather. One thing that amuses me here is when we have a public holiday everyone goes into panic mode although generally the supermarkets are open anyway. Christmas and Boxing Day are the only days when the stores are closed.

Hello Sue, Berona and Amanda
Everyone has arrived while I was on the phone.

We didn't do anything very exciting today, just walked gingerly down to the market. We had lots more snow overnight,so the pavements were in a dreadful way.

Tec, I saw that although you lost, you weren't beaten to a pulp

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Nov 2010 21:48

Good Morning Sue,
Good Evening Amanda,

No nothing exciting today Sue, hardly describe the supermarket as exciting. I suppose sliding down a steep winding mountain road with a 100 ft drop on one side was mildly exciting - the relief when you make it to the bottom is hard to explain lol.

Amanda, I'm sorry you are hurting tonight, but think how toned your muscles will be with all that exercise. You'll wake up in the morning with a sylph like figure to admire.

Tec............9-48pm

Five hours, just to do one wall Amanda?
I must admit that it was nice when we moved into this house. Being new, the walls are flat,so we are just able to paint them, much easier than wall papering

Amanda2003 Report 27 Nov 2010 21:55

Good morning Berona , I hope you don't get to much rain , if it happens .

Tec ...... your road sounds ghastly , I hope you've bought enough food etc to be able to stay put until the weather clears a bit .

I don't think " step " aerobics was meant to be practiced on a kitchen chair , I expect to be so " toned " in the morning that ever muscle is so stiff that I can't move at all .....lol

Sue , we only paint our walls , gave up wall paper years ago , what with having cats and kiddies it all seemed to much like hard work ...... there are some fantastic wall papers about these days though .

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 27 Nov 2010 22:05

Yes Linda .....five hours ! It had been quite awhile and it was a big pattern that took a bit of fidderling about to line it up etc . It was a bit like the blind leading the blind really .....lol......I'm surprised we managed as well as we did .

Tecwyn Report 27 Nov 2010 22:06

Good Morning Berona,

Hope you are well today, and plotting your day.
I see we're still on page 1368, at least going the right way.

Tecwyn Report 27 Nov 2010 22:25

Talking of wallpapering. I f I've told this tale before, excuse me.
Where we used to live there was a gentleman living opposite, who happened to be Irish. One weekend his wife went to visit a relative. He asked me could he borrow my paste table, paste brushe etc, as he wanted to paper the lounge as a surprise for his wife.
The following day he returned the table etc, and invited me to take a look at his decorating.I went over and was astonished to see that he had papered the room sideways - cutting a length of paper the width of the room, putting it up horizontally working his way down to the skirting board. The pattern was perfectly matched, but sideways.

The other odd thing he did once was to stain and varnish his hard wood front door - except that he varnished it first, then put the stain over the wet varnish - what a mess.

Tec.................10-25pm.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Nov 2010 22:29

That is so funny Tec,I hope you didn't follow his example

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Nov 2010 22:34

No Linda - I am better than that. Although I don't think I could paper a room sideways, it must be so difficult on a long run. I'd get in a terrible muddle.

Tec...........10-35pm

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 27 Nov 2010 22:37

LOL Tec ...... I could have saved myself a lot of bother ( possiably ? ) if I had used your neighbours method today .
But thinking about it , how on earth he managed to handle manipulating such long pieces of wet with paste, paper I don't know , normal , height of a room ones where enough for me .
