I'm only too happy to pass on what information I have to people who feel 'stuck', It makes me feel good that I have helped them. However, I draw the line and allowing strangers to view my tree since I've had a couple of them copy the entire tree and add it to their own (with lots of mistakes made in the process). I make sure the person who contacts me is a genuine relative before I allow access to my tree.

I've done some shopping online but still need a morning to find a few things. I'll get a parcel off to Hobart this week once I've finished.

Lol Berona~~

Just my name for it :)))
It 's a very light weight plastic very wide shovel, which you can just move it across the ground and just push the snow out of the way.
No lifting, I can do the drive ((50ft) in a few mins.
I can't even lift a garden shovel, and a spade is difficult and takes more time cos it's smaller .
Best £15 I've ever spent.
My sister lives in Pennsylvania and she has a snow blower, lord knows how much that cost her !
We are used to the snow and have had many many worse yrs than this>lol
It's been raining today so the roads have cleared but are icy.
Hope the weather is good with you.

Sandie.x.

Lol Linda, I have to make some contribution to the snow clearing as hubby has a very bad knee, it's blown up like a balloon, he's been tiling the bathroom and laying new flooring, so have to give him a bit of respite.)

Hello Sue and Amanda. I have been answering emails. It does give you a good feeling to help someone, doesn't it? I think it's because we feel so good when someone else has helped us.

I don't have any more washing to do, I seem to have done so much this week - and used my dryer. However, the woollens are still waiting to be washed and put away for the summer. I like to dry them outdoors in the shade on a hot day - but we don't seem to have had one that isn't wet!

Hello Berona ....... I know what you mean about not giving access to your tree unless your certain . It astounds me that some people will just bung as many folk as they possiably can on their tree , I don't see the point in that myself .

I was christmas shopping today with OH and our youngest ( she is 16 )
it was lovely to have her company as OH can be a bit of a Bah-Humbug when it comes to buying gifts .....lol

Berona Report 4 Dec 2010 22:58

I don't understand them either, Amanda. They seem to see some kind of prestige in having 'lots' of ancestors/relatives, where most of us are more interested in WHO they were, not HOW MANY of them there were.

Not trying to show we're the coldest, or win a contest but it was minus 12 this morning at 9am.. just have to get on with it. Like Linda says:)
Same as you folks down under 'suffer' very hot temps which must be just as uncomfortable.
Would like a bit of it tho .lol:))

Must go now. Just had an email from dtr to say that grand-daughter wants to earn some money to buy her friends some chrissy presents, so I said she can come here and do some housework for me. See you later.

Bye Berona ..... I hope you can find some tasks for your Granddaughter : )

Hello Sandie .. I hope things warm up a bit for you soon . It feels a few degrees warmer here in Norfolk tonight but I think that's because the wind has dropped at last .

Hi Amanda~~

It is a a bit bit warmer now cos it's foggy and we've had rain, but we're so high up am used to the snow and cold. Don't like it tho !!
Whenever the forecasters say 'snow on high ground' we know we will get it .lol
Glad you enjoyed your shopping trip... wouldn't dream of going with hubby !!
I like shopping on my own, don't mind travelling to the city with family but we always split up and go our own ways.
Before my dau could drive, I used to take her clothes shopping and had to hang around in the shops with rapping banging music whilst she was trying on clothes, and having to change the clothes she liked for a different size !!!...Don't do that any more either !

Amanda, I am very happy for you to win the cold temperature competition, believe me!
Sandie, I too have spent many a happy ? hour standing around in teenage clothes shops while my daughter looked at every single item before deciding that there was nothing she liked.Mercifully those days re long gone.

Morning Linda and everyone:-)

I did that very same thing yesterday with my daughter, she was trying to buy a pair of sandles. We went into countless shops, she eventually found the pair she wanted in a large department store. Thankfully that particular store was air conditioned, as the day was very hot. I ended the day with lots of blisters on my feet and a much lighter purse!! We had a great day:-))

It sounds like your daughter had a better day Carole. If you have blisters on your feet, perhaps it should have been you buying new shoes

Carolee

Carolee Report 5 Dec 2010 10:09

I almost bought a new pair Linda:-) I was wearing my thongs (flip flops) I didn't think I'd get blisters from those, just goes to show how much walking we did. I did buy a new bag, but cant have it until Christmas day.
Its OH's birthday on the 17th and mine on the 25th, so we have a double whammy in December, its loads of fun!!

Hello Linda - different time of day from the usual! Hope you are keeping warm. We have had an overcast day but so far, dry and humid. Other parts of our state are not so lucky. Further inland from Queensland down through NSW and into Victoria are having floods and people have been evacuated from their homes.

Well, my bathroom shines and my rugs are clean, thanks to grand-daughter and her little brother. Of course, his mother had to re-do everything after Master 7 was finished and put furniture back.

At least I now know what an ebook does, thanks to Miss 12. Although I understood what she said, I doubt if I could repeat it in the technical terms she used. I'm still not sure how you would read it from the 'thing' you can load it into, but you can listen to it too - would be great for blind people - like having someone read the book to you.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Dec 2010 10:46

I have just ordered an Amazon kindle e book reader Berona for my Christmas treat to myself. I have done some research and this brand seems to come out top, just like reading a real page and no glare from the screen, also very light to hold.

There are lots of free books to download, plus our local library has a free download service. you just download the books and they stay on your machine for a month, then they disappear.

When we go on holiday, which is very often lol, I read a paperback more or less in a day, so I need to take lots of books and they are very heavy to pack. Given the weight restriction on airline luggage, I thought this toy would be the ideal thing. Plus the one I have ordered has 3g included which is paid for by Amazon, so while I am away, I will be able to have free access to the internet and I will be able to send emails,so will be able to keep in touch with my family for free
