It must be that you are closer to the coast than I am. We are nearly 20 miles from the coast and I've noticed that the weather is more like yours in the inner suburbs of Sydney, where the temperature is often 2 to 3 degrees less than it is here. No sea breeze.

Good morning down underer's. I am glad that you enjoyed your lunch Sue, I hope you got a lovely expensive present as well Of course if you are like us, we don't bother to exchange gifts, we just about manage a card.
I keep missing Diane, I am going to bed just about the same time you arrive, still we did manage a few lines last night. I think your calendar outfit sounds good, I am a bit worried about the one Tec seems to have in store for me.
Sandie, 9st....I wish. My sister has been on diet and has lost loads of weight, she is now the lightest she has been in her adult life and don't I know it. She keeps banging on about it and when we go to see her she is so sanctimonious about what she will and will not eat. OK, I am the heaviest I have ever been in my adult life and do need to lose loads of weight, but I refrain from reminding her of all those years when I was the slimmer one and I never rubbed her nose in it - sheesh.
Hello to Perse and Carole in your upside down time scales. We always had a pine tree Carole, I love the smell as well. It was only two and a half years ago that my grown up son finally moved out for the last time (fingers crossed), so he was always here at Christmas along with my daughter who always came home for the holiday. They insisted on a real tree. Once they had gone, we bought an artificial one, which is very realistic, but doesn't have the smell. They were absolutely disgusted with us, but the real ones are incredibly expensive now and we are pensioners you know! AS we are going away for Christmas this year, I don't think I will even bother to put the tree up

Evening LindainHerriotCountry our Sandie quite upset me when she said 9 stone, I lost quite a bit a year or so ago but put it all back on with himself being retired. It's my eldest I am worried about she is fading away. She put on a lot of weight with her first child was heavy when she got married and the second daughter and then not long before she got pregnant with the lad who is now 9 she lost heaps (all because her sister had lost so much before going to the UK for her OE). Now she is losing more and I think it is down to stress etc. I am going with her on the 23rd to see a Neurologist.
Sue Hope you have had a happy Anniversary today, though you do have two more hours of today than I do so make good use of it.
11.00pm in Auckland where the weather is hot and there has been no rain for days now and the washing gets dry and it hasn't really been that awful humid that we get in Summer. Even Wellington has been having wonderful cycling weather.
Tomorrow we will be out to lunch - our youngest is up from Wellington so we will probably call that Christmas Lunch. Be awhile before we see her again. As Brits evening, and Aussies morning is about my lunch time I shall not be here.
Persey xx

Linda - we don't exchange gifts on our anniversary. Too close to Christmas and we can never think of what to get each other. We usually have a nice lunch or dinner out.
I wish I was 9 stone too - those were the days.
Persey - my daughter was dreadfully thin after she had the twins. We were very concerned for her as although she has always been slim she looked pale and generally unwell. Over the last 12 months she has put on some weight and now looks healthy. I hope all goes well with your daughter's visit to the doctor.

Hi all~~
Just a quicky .. about to do the cooking.
Sorry Perse if I upset you re the 9st, I lost the weight thro stress ,loss of appetite, healthy eating but not a conscious diet plan. I'm only 5ft 4 so hardly skinny. I was a neat 8st 7 when I got married but put on a half a stone in Sicily on honeymoon.. didn't spend all our time in the bedroom .lol
Sorry about your worries over dau, hope things go well with your visit to the neurologist. Will speak or pm you later as I have to do son's food before he goes to work:) Luv Sandie.x

No worries Sandie - you didn't really upset me....
I was 9 stone once..... and to think my mother used to take me to the chemist regularly between the ages of 3 & 4 because I had not put any weight on. I used to have to have my maltexo every morning and night.... So I blame that..... look what it has done to me now. LOL
My daughter had two epileptic turns when she was a youngster - the first one was like a stroke, she lost use of her right arm, leg and speech, this was followed by a massive headache and vomiting. She spent a week in hospital whilst they ran tests she had a similar one about six months later. They called it sylvian epilepsy (which is a childhood complaint). She took drugs for several years for it and then was cleared when she was about 12. Forward several years to when her two girls were young and she had a similar turn, her speech went haywire, her words were muddled and she was repeating herself. Now she has had a similar episode, she is studying, my nine year old grandson has to have timeout at school for disrupting the class, her husband has to resign from his bank job (38 years service) because he is not zipping and zapping and selling packages people can'f afford fast enough. He will finish January and the large payout will pay off their mortgage. So all in all she is looking rather gaunt and dare I say it haggard. The two girls are an asset as they between them do dinner six nights of the week. But they also have their studies etc. So as grandies we have to now step in and do our bit to help. My SIL is a great guy, a lot older than my daughter, he wants to be a funeral director and we all think he will be great at it. When I told my younger daughter and she asked what her BIL would do and I told her she went oh of course, he would be good at that.
So that is it in a nutshell.
9.30 am getting ready to go out in the bus to the big smoke, hmmph and he gets a free ride. Temper tantrum not fair.
Love Persey xx

Good morning/evening everyone.
What a worry for you and your OH, Persey. Sometimes we need to step in and take on some of the load. It sounds like everything is falling apart at the moment but hopefully as will settle down before long.

Good evening Brits and good morning Aussies and Kiwis. We seem to have had a light shower but now back to the same as yesterday, after a very hot night. I awoke at midnight and threw off all covers except a sheet - then slept like a log.
Perse - that sounds like you need to keep an eye on them and be ready to assist where possible to ease the stress. At least, your son-I.L will have a steady job which is not affected by recessions, etc. Good luck to him.

Good Morning Persey, Sue, and Berona,
Persey I'm sorry that your daughter has these problems at the moment, but thank goodness she and her family have you both to support them when needed. I hope very much that things will improve for them all soon.
Berona - it is hard to imagine that anyone can be so hot as to throw the covers off - you wouldn't be doing that here lol.
Sue - Do you have a sunny day? I hope so.
Tec.........9-45pm.

Hi Tec - you must be tired after your busy day. Is the Duchess settled with her leg up?
No sunshine but after watching the news I'm really not complaining. The floods are getting worse and too many people have died:-(

Hi all~~~
Perse ~~~it is often best to share your troubles, and it is brave of you to put your anxieties on the boards, sorry that I started it commenting on weight , I really hope you and SIL can help your dau especially with your accompanied visit to the neurologist:) My dau is the opposite, she was a lovely size 12 when she graduated, she's 5f t3 and 24 now. But 2 yrs ago whilst rushing around in Cardiff, our capital city ,looking for bridesmaids accessories ( she was one ) she didn't eat all day, she went to meet friends in the pub later to watch the rugby international, had one bottle of Bud and fainted. The bar staff were great with her gave her food, obviously her sugar levels had dropped, but it really frightened her. She phoned home for her dad to pick her up, but he couldn't get into the city centre , the roads being closed off cos of the rugby.. The taxi drivers wouldn't take here out of town.. too small a fare, until a male friend and a traffic warden intervened and threatened them with the police ( male friend was just going to drag him from the car and deck him !!) Since then she eats regularly ..but too much . So has put on quite a bit of weight. I don't ask her weight.. sensitive subject, I'd never tell anyone mine when I was 13 st, she 's not that heavy tho,but I see her clothes sizes increasing when I do the washing and check the labels for washing instructions.
I do hope dau overcomes her probs soon, even if she has to continue with her medication, all the family sound to be a caring, loving and supportive to her. I wish you all well:) Sandie.xx

Hello Tec. How did everything go for the Duchess? I hope you are fussing around her - make sure she has plenty of reading material - and is resting her leg. I'm sure you are the perfect carer and that she appreciates you very much.

Good Evening Linda, and Sandie,
Thank you for your concern. The Duchess has to rest her leg and not walk on it - obviously she has to occassionally. She is in a bit of pain tonight, but has pain killers. I have the nurses outfit on again, but not the stillettos :)) She has to go back tomorrow for a change of dressings.
Tec...............10-50pm.

Perhaps you could pose in your nurses outfit for the calendar Tec, that would fill up one of the empty months nicely

Time for bed I think. I need to gird my loins for tomorrow. I will be in hyper housework mode in the morning and then will be cooking all afternoon as we are having four friends for dinner. Well when I say "having friends for dinner", I am not actually going to eat them.

I still think you (Tec) and Colin can be in the calendar Tec.... Nurse's outfit will be more than fine. That is your occupation, that and looking after Lanto and Montgomery and mine will be full decked in working blokes clobber... I know my place.
Youngest daughter passing all her pregnancy medical bits and pieces okay - We had a lovely lunch. I am rather partial to sweetcorn fritters (see another weight gainer) the only time I have them is in a café as a treat, and I only had cranberry juice.
Hope the Duchess improves and I am sure she will with you looking after her Tec. Berona and I would recommend some good books but your good lady wife does seem to get through such a lot she has probably read them all.
Thank you all for your kind words, our daughter is a battler and I am sure she will pull through everything. She has lots of church friends that also support her. Next year if our young grandson plays up at school I am thinking of asking the school if I can sit in on a few of his classes. I used to work as a Teacher's aid and took the slow ones for remedial reading at our local primary school when our youngsters were there. I think he doesn't get enough sleep and plays too many of those TV and computer games after school. His conversation levels are way up there but he hates putting his stories on paper; will probably be an author later on.
NSW, Victoria and South Australia are really drowning but I see where more pages were allotted in the Aussie papers to the cricket and believe they didn't just sack Ricky Ponting once but sacked him three times.
Well I can here Gordon Ramsey cooking Christmas dinners (at least he is not swearing) and his program will be finished and I am going to watch the second episode of "Heart and Soul" - I do like Sarah Lancashire. OH is outside reconstructing the fence.
8.13pm in a bit cooler evening.
Persey ((xx))
