I couldn't think of what to buy my mum but I received a jewellery store catalogue in the post box the other day and they had a very pretty heart pendant. I went in and had a look and bought that as well as a gold chain to go with it. I think she'll love it. The adults like gift vouchers so they're easy. Drew and Aiden love Leggo, Joel asked Santa for a skateboard, Aimee loves anything Disney Princess and Barbie - so that was easy. These days OH and I generally buy something we would both like for the house or yard. This year we're buying a new table and chairs set for the back garden.

The jewellery you bought your mum sounds lovely Sue. I used to buy the Duchess jewellery at Christmas, but she never wears it these days, so it never sees the light of day.
I think that those we normally buy for will have to have money gifts this year. I don't like doing that, but I don't suppose they will object lol.

Looks like Linda has dashed off to get those presents she needs.

I have been talking on the phone.
I have absolutely no idea what to get for my brother and his wife, they are a real problem. I also need to buy something for the other set of grandparents, but again I don't know what

All ideas gratefully recieved

Maybe all the talk of champagne has made her thirsty Tec - you know what Linda's like:-))

I don't like gift vouchers very much but that's what the older ones want and it's so much easier. If I gave mum a gift voucher she would put it in the drawer and not use it. I used to give my dad a book voucher as well as a gift at Christmas and I found out after he passed away that he wouldn't use them as he felt "embarrassed" handing them over. Why? I've no idea.

What about a joint present, something tasteful for their house?

or a puppy each - a budgie - goldfish - worm farm?

I put together a hamper for my daughter's ex MIL as we are still friendly. I've done this every year and she enjoys it. She always gets me a lovely tin of biscuits and some nice chutney. My daughter's new in-laws are nice people but have no intention of us being one big happy family. Always polite and friendly when we meet up but we're kept at arm's distance. I think I would embarrass them if I bought them a gift.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Dec 2010 22:31

I would be delighted with book tokens.

I have done the hampers and chutneys etc, it all gets very difficult at our age when none of us actually wants anything

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Dec 2010 22:34

Sue, Tec wants us to buy him some book tokens for Christmas

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Dec 2010 22:41

Ok Linda - I get the hint. And I take it no hampers and chutneys for you. Are you being cheeky saying you could get them a cleaner for their home.

Would anyone like crackers and cheese for supper?

Well not you Sue, as it's hours 'till suppertime for you.

Tec.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Dec 2010 22:58

Yes please Tec, any type of cheese apart from blue cheese, I can't stand that. If it is not too much trouble a coffee would be nice as well

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Dec 2010 23:00

No not for me Tec - thank you:-))

I'm sure they would be delighted to have a cleaner sent by you Linda - it will do wonders for family relationships:-))

I must be off for the day. I have some bits and pieces to do before it gets too warm. Sleep tight and keep warm.

A good day to our Aussies.

All we have at the moment is Double Gloucester - I quite like blue now and then - the Duchess likes Brie, and cheese with cranberry's in.
