Good Evening Linda,

I shall ignore the dining room comment - you're just trying to wind me up.

I am pleased to see that you are now sober - and I want to know why you didn't come to our party?
and what was so hilarious about your party, you were going to tell us.

Supposed to wear it at least till I go to clinic on 22nd but OH has got a job for today, tomorrow and then three weeks doing costing at a biscuit factory so will have to shift clinic to the following week. I will just test the waters each day and when I can manage without it I will at the moment it starts stinging and then aching so only have boot off for short bursts when mobile.
I sleep with it on - but during the day I will lay around and read with the boot off.I don't think I have ever spent so much time resting before.

Think it would be a bit cold in a tent at the moment but I guess if the Sioux can do it, but how would the duchess feel about it?

I wasn't tipsy Tec, not like the night they plied me with all that mulled wine. It is just that my keyboard seemed to be getting all the letters mixed up as I typed. My screen was full of red underlining for some strange reason

ooooO s are warm thanks Linda.

How did you like Mexico - I am not too keen on Mexican food - says she who has only been to Tijuana?

Gosh that seems ages ago Perse. It was good thanks, lovely and warm The hotel had seven restaurants ranging from Asian to Brazilian (death by meat),so there was a huge choice of food.

I will type up last nights adventures and post them totally out of order in a minute

Tecwyn Report 3 Mar 2010 20:49

That seems an awful long time Persey, can't imagine how you sleep with it on, you have my sympathy - make the most of the rest though, might be a long time before you get another chance - bit drastic to get a rest I must say.

I wasn't thinking of sharing the tent with the Duchess, and she wouldn't want to.
I just wondered what it would be like to be a hermit - the simple life - living with nature - no hassle - no decorating...........bliss.

Linda, I don't get red underlining because I don't have spell check, as I expect you've noticed when trying to decipher what the h-ll I'm on about.
I was once good at spelling, something's happened to my brain.

Good morning/evening all. Hope you aren't too hungover. You should've stayed with the white wine instead of sampling everything Tec had at the bar. My feet are aching from dancing in my red stilleto dancing shoes but it was such fun that I don't mind:-))

Diane assures me she had a wonderful time so it was worth all the effort we put in:-)) Diane also apologises to you Linda for not responding to your email and that she was made up with the cake you made her. Thanks fellas for clearing up - I knew you wouldn't mind:-))

I'm not staying long today as I have a number of things to do before we leave tomorrow. I'm having my mum to stay overnight as it is much easier not to have to pick her up first thing in the morning.

I'm so looking forward to seeing my family - we just don't see them often enough.

Yes but I haven't spoken with you much since you got back.
When I stayed in Arizona with family - some of them used to eat Mexican food - they do versions of it here in the foodhalls at the shopping malls which look diabolical. We only go in there to eat because it is cheap and OH eats Japanese, Chinese or Thai dinners and I have sushi and one place does very nice Italian food.

We often go out for various do’s, more or less with the same social group which is loosely based on the committee who run the cinema. In a small town like this, I keep coming across the same people with “different hats on”, because we all seem to volunteer for several different groups.

The usual group were asked to go to one members house last night at 7pm, but we were not allowed to know what we would be doing. Last time that happened, we all had to dismantle a huge summer house and reassemble it in a different part of the garden (the owner is in her seventies). I checked that we didn’t need work clothes, but was told that we didn’t.

When we arrived it was odd because we were not allowed into the main house, we were taken into a granny annexe which is attached to the house, until everyone was there.

To be continued

Morning Sue - I do envy you doing your jaunts to Tassie.

Tec - you can put on spell check in the toolbar somehwere above the GR info - I usually have google running along side genes and look up what I want in there. But of course that does not explain my idiotic typos.

My Doctor was telling me that her son had a moonboot for all of 15 days when he hurt his ankle - he went skating (don't ask how) with it on and broke both steel bars that run up either side of his leg. The hospital had not seen that happen before.

Linda.........

That sounds like an Agatha Christie plot.

I hope this isn't going to get nasty..................

'Morning Sue,
Surprised you can walk at all today with me stomping all over your feet at the party.
I didn't realise your mum was coming with you - sounds like a lovely weekend for everyone.

Good evening Linda and Tec - good morning Sue and Perse. Have I missed anyone? Perse - good to see you posting again. You still didn't tell me how you injured your foot?

Linda - your computer underlines words which it doesn't have in its dictionary and you need to put those particular words (as spelled) into its dictionary to stop it from underlining them.

Sue, if I don't get another chance, let me wish that you have a lovely stay with your family - and don't worry about Tec and Allan - we know how to handle them!

Persephone

Persephone Report 3 Mar 2010 21:05

Sorry Berona - Wendy (Polly Poppet) put a thread up about it. I fell off my doormat - left foot rolled off the edge of mat and edge of backless sandal and arrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.

Went to A & E next day at lunch time hobble hobble and I have broken a bone down the side of left foot. There were four others there that morning similar mishap (not on my doormat) but only moi ended up breaking a bone.

Good Morning Berona,

I was so disapointed that you were not at the party - so looking forward to that Last Tango in Paris, or was it Liverpool?

The woman hasn't been born that knows how to handle me, can't speak for Allan of course................

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Mar 2010 21:18

Good evening Berona,

Hmm, I do add words to the spell check dictionary, but I think the problem last night was more alcohol related......

My tale part 2

Eventually we were told why we were there. Our hostess was wearing her Inner wheel hat. The Inner Wheel is the women’s section of the Rotary club. Every year, they have to support a charity, sometimes by raising money, but this year by making things. As our hostess is an excellent quilter, she was making quilts for the children in the local hospice. We were told that we were all going to be making quilts last night.

Now bearing in mind that half the group were men and half of the women couldn’t sew, that caused a great deal of comment. Our hostess collects old sewing machines, not electric ones, but ones where you turn the wheel by hand. When we went into the main house, all the machines were set up ready to go. Next to each machine was an envelope which contained ready cut rectangles of materials, all colour coordinated. Each type was labelled with a letter and there was a diagram which showed how they had to be sewn first into strips and then joined together to eventually form the top of the quilt.

There was much hilarity as we set about our task, especially as non of the men had ever used a sewing machine before. I must say that there was some pretty choice language from some of the ladies when things went wrong.

By the end of the evening, all of the groups did actually manage to produce the quilt tops. Our hostess will finish them with a couple of friends. She had some finished one’s there and they really were lovely.

I did abstain from the alcohol until we had completed our tasks, well I needed to sew in a straight line. Once we did finish, we had a lovely supper and the wine did flow. As we don’t drive when we are going to drink, we had a very icy walk home.

I know it doesn’t sound hilarious, I suppose you had to be there and see the people concerned having a crash course in new skills. I must say that everyone did try very hard and we got quite a few tops done. It is nice to think what good use they will be put too.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Mar 2010 21:25

Actually Linda, I can imagine that was hilarious, I can also imagine the looks on the mens faces at the task ahead of them, but full marks for having a go - I bet there were some wobbly lines in the sewing.

A good cause though, and a good wheeze your host thought of - bet none of you expected that.

Tec - I arrived late - all ready to join you in a demonstration of the quick-step! I even asked for someone to put on a Victor Sylvester record - but you had gone to bed!!!

Oh well - whose birthday is next?

Perse, I broke the bone on the outside of my left foot a few years ago. I was just walking down the corridor at work and someone walking behind was talking to me. As i twisted round, I just rolled my foot sideways. The bone didn't snap right through. it was like the green stick fractures children get.

I had to wear a strong elasticated bandage for a few weeks to support it while it healed. The worst thing was that I got a lump on the bone were it healed and i couldn't wear most of my shoes for a long time because they were too rigid at the side. I had one pair with were soft and baggy and had to wear them, they were really scruffy by the time my foot was healed
