Good Morning Allan,
Good Evening Linda,

Allan.........You have my sympathy - I also have arthritic pain in my knees, and as I've spent two days crawling round the kitchen floor, my knees are complaining bitterly this evening.
The wheelie bins will think you've abandoned them. You could pop out in the car and explain your difficulty.

Linda......... Worms.......I take the worms are destined for the allotment.
Do you dig a hole and bury them? or dig the ground over and sprinkle them about?
One wonders about these things.

Oh no Tec, the worms just live in their wormery. They eat the food and turn it into compost which you can then use as .... well compost. They also produce a liquid which collects in a container at the bottom and you use as fertiliser.

Well that is the theory anyway. so far they just seem to be sitting in the food

Haven't you finished that kitchen yet? I think your tea breaks must be to long

Linda........

I am amazed - we live and learn. I assumed, wrongly, that you bred worms to improve the soil.
I had this mental vision of you on your knees at the allotment, planting worms individually. Well I never did.

We have large compost heaps on the allotment and they are heaving with worms,so when we spread that, we will get lots of extra worms from that

Good evening Tec

Linda many years ago when I went to see my doctor (this was in the UK) having cut my way through a thick fog of cigar smoke, I explained my predicament.

His response: "at least you'll know when to take an umbrella with you"

Needles to say, he was an ex-commando medic and had no time for wimps!

I assume that sue will be starting out on her journey now. It will be lovely for her to see her grandson.

Speaking of grandchildren, my daughter has her twenty week scan tomorrow,so we should know the sex. That seems odd to me, I didn't want to know, but it seems to be the norm now

Berona Report 4 Mar 2010 22:16

Linda - you will have to either re-arrange your afternoons or talk to us during your morning! We will be nine hours in front of you instead of eleven as at present. Allan will have to tell you the difference from his state - my old brain has enough trouble coping with the East coast!

Allan and Tec - join the club. My left knee is affected by osteo-arthritis and sometimes, without warning, it 'clicks' and feels like it's pointing backwards (like a dog's hind leg). It doesn't really do that - just feels like it - and it 'throws' me off balance - hence the purchase of the walking stick.
Now that I am walking more again, I haven't used it much - just take it with me to give me confidence.....Allan, I think you would look nice with a walking stick - "debonair"!! The wheelie bins would love you!

I am sure that we will manage Berona, we did before, although I think it became easier last time the change happened

Allan Report 4 Mar 2010 22:24

Berona as WA no longer has daylight saving time we are currently 8 hrs ahead of the UK.

When I can get on the computer in the afternoon I usually do so about 4.00pm local time which is 8.00am UK time.

Once the UK goes onto Daylight Saving time, WA will only be 7hrs ahead, (and 2hrs behind the Eastern States)

Linda - we didn't have any choice but to wait to find out what our babies were - but I do remember often wishing that I knew what it was so that I could make plans regarding the bedrooms, baby clothes, etc... the only thing I wouldn't like is if the scan gives the wrong impression.

My young friend and hubby didn't really care, but might have leaned towards a boy if preference was allowed. However, the scan revealed a girl - so on the way home, friend shopped for a few pink things and both set about imagining their little girl. They even referred to her by name. When a boy arrived, they were both pleasantly surprised - but bewildered, wondering "what happened to our little girl?". She said that they were thrilled about the boy, but felt that they had 'lost' their little girl - and wished they had never been told.

I think that is the problem Berona, they tell them, but then can't guarantee it. Apparently if it is not very clear, they invite them back again for a further scan.

I am going off now because I am tired. It has been one of those weeks when I have had lots of extra commitments every day. This morning I had to go to the doctors, not because I am ill. They seem to get extra money for ticking boxes, so I was asked to go in for a check up. Just as I was about to set off for a gentle walk there, I had to take an important phone call. I ended up by just about running there. The first thing she said was I will take your blood pressure! Amazingly, it was fine.
When I got home, I nearly chickened out of doing my exercise video, but I was good and did it. Coupled with being on the go in the tourist office all afternoon, that is far to much of a hectic day for me. So I will drag my weary bones to bed and read for a while

We've decided not to have anymore children

A wise decision Tec

One we made years ago when we saw what we had subjected the world to, with our two :0))

Allan

Berona

Berona Report 4 Mar 2010 22:48

I take it you gave the matter a lot of thought before making that decision, Tec?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 4 Mar 2010 22:52

Yes, we did did consider the matter carefully.
It was recently announced that it now costs nearly £500,000 to raise a child to 21 yrs - we decided we couldn't afford it.

I'm sure it only cost about £20 all in to raise our daughter.

Tec, I just thought that I'd mention in passing, that Berona appears to be the only representative of the Sisterhood at the moment.

Have you noticed that when mother is away the solidarity of the Sisterhood melts more rapidly than ice on the desert sand!!

Allan

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 4 Mar 2010 22:59

Yes Allan, I have noticed this - full credit to Berona for being brave and courageous enough to be here with us on her own.

Maybe the sisterhood thinkwe are a formidable twosome, and they're hiding behind their petticoats?

Tec

Berona Report 4 Mar 2010 23:02

Ah! but I AM here! and whilst I have both of you here, I can keep an eye on you!

Tec - are you telling us that food, clothing, medical, education and transport for children are all free in Wales? I doubt it!
