Hello all

Carole, I've seen the news reports regarding Melbournes weather!

I hope that you are well and have not been badly affected.

Berona, I always think that once you are on the merry-go-round of doctors, it is difficult to get off. Each has to refer you to someone else so that ultimately they can claim that there was no negligence, if the worse omes to the worst!

Got everything crossed for the second viewing Linda - hope it went well.
Having sold five houses, I found that sometimes the most enthusiastic viewers disappeared, never to be heard of again, while the least likely were the ones that ended up buying, but you do get to meet some "interesting" people.
I had one couple that were very keen "exactly what we're looking for" but then decided the prevailing wind was in the "wrong" direction. Then the lady that got very irate because the house had the "wrong " doors?.
I never did fathom that one out. The young man that bought the last house we sold made a cheeky offer, then wanted everything included with the exception of the clothes off our backs. Interesting business.

Good Evening CC

It was a nice bright sunny day here today, but very cold. I wanted to tidy up the garden while it was dry, clear away some of the winter debris, in particular the dead leaves that fall off a large magnolia tree and smother everything, but the wind was so cold whipping down the mountain that I gave up without getting far. The garden is due for a major overhaul this year. It has become very tired looking, and I'm bored with it. I've just ordered 12 David Austin hybrid tea roses to replace all the tatty looking perennials in the border.

A fossilised Welshman missing his Horlicks is a very sorry sight.

It is good exercise for Berona and Linda to chase Allan and I around other threads - good for their old bones - and we have to give them something to report to Mother when she returns.

I do hope that your aches and pains improve as the weather warms up, we all need some warm weather.

Good evening Tec and CC.

The second viewing went very well Tec. If they are to be believed they have already agreed terms with the person buying their house. that person wants to complete before the start of April. that isn;t going to happen, but they do seem to be panicking to find somewhere. They seem to want a fair bit of the furniture as well, which is fine by us as we only have to dispose of it.

They said that they are going to ring the estate agents first thing on Monday to make an offer. I am not counting my chickens because I too have had some dreadful house moves in the past.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 6 Mar 2010 20:42

I'm pleased the viewing appears to have gone well, but you are obviously experienced enough not to count your chickens until the contract is signed.
It also remains to be seen if they come up with a realistic offer of course.
My mother's bungalow was on the market for twelve months. The buyer initially put in an insulting offer that was refused, then increased the offer by £2,000 at monthly intervals, until I eventually caved in. In fairness the property did need modernising throughout. Turned out the buyer was a property developer. He put a gang of tradesmen in there, and it went back on the market three months later at a huge profit, even allowing for cost of renovations. I didn't care about that, just glad to see an end to it so that I could get things finalised at last.

I just want to get things over with as well, so we haqve decided what we will take, we are not being silly because all thetime it stands empty we have bills to pay and more will kick in as we have to start paying council tax again for instance. I won't believe it until we sign on the bottom line.

Your side kick must still be in bed, or out walking.

Tecwyn Report 6 Mar 2010 21:10

If you mean my partner in crime, he is probably limping around WA holding onto a favourite wheelie bin for support - I do hope he hasn't fallen in it, and carted off to the local tip - we'll have to go and dig him out, and he won't come up smelling of roses.

The side kick has just been catching up on the Threads!!

Good evening CC, Linda and Tec and good morning to Berona and Carole if they are here.

A special good evening to Diane, who has suitably chastised myself and Tec for our antics (and even our uncle..its) The Sisterhood is alive and well :0))

CC fortunately the injections are only for flights so not really required all that often now. Car journeys are OK as I can stop and get the circulation going again. As the others know here, this is the legacy of a series of Pulmonary Emboli a few years ago.

Carole, I hope that the severe storms haven't affected you too badly!

Well as you didn't do much gardening this afternoon, you can have the honour of digging him out. You can also use some of their precious water and hose him down before he is allowed back on the thread

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Mar 2010 21:15

Ah, there you are Allan. I hope that you don't smell of nasty things.

What storms? Where?

Allan

Allan Report 6 Mar 2010 21:16

Tec, limping is correct. I don't know what is worse, sitting still and having my knee 'seize' up or walking and aggravating the bl**dy thing.

I suppose that I should relax in a nice warm bath but my OH refuses to sit on the side and peel my grapes!!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Mar 2010 21:19

I am actually eating grapes as I type Allan I will post one to you, but it will probably be a sultana by the time it arrives

You really are an "imp" Allan

Good Morning Allan,

So pleased we haven't got to dig you out of the tip - though I think Linda was relishing the prospect of you being hosed down - she can be a little sadistic at times that Linda - bordering on merciless at times.

I've been taking warfarin every day for 20 years to prevent further clotting.
It's actually rat poison, but I'm still here, so obviously doesn't work.

I can just hear the cogs of Linda's mind thinking up a response to that.

Tec

I am glad that you take rat poison.

When I say, that I am glad you take rat poison, that is of course because I care about your health

Allan Report 6 Mar 2010 21:27

LOL Tec,

I was on warfarin for twelve months until the specialist was happy that the immediate threat had passed. I didn't enjoy all the blood tests that it entailed, however.

Linda, a sever low pressure cell hit Melbourne yesterday. The temps plummeted and a deluge of rain followed by a plague of hail.

The City came to a standstill, major sporting events cancelled.

Queensland still experiencing floods, while over in parts of the west, the driest year on record.

What a flamin' Country!
