Yes Allan - I know Diane's lurking, I also had a pm reminding me that she is watching us.

On a more serious note, just seen the freak storm in Melbourne on TV News - looks horrendous. The flooding at St. George in Queensland is dreadful...........weird weather.

Very weird weather, Tec.

The Eastern States or at least some of them have gone from ten years of drought to flooding.

I can't recall whether it was in Queensland or NSW but last week one area had 150mm of rain in a couple of hours.

That's heavy rain!!

Tecwyn Report 6 Mar 2010 23:26

I know some of the Eastern States were screaming for rain, but I don't think that kind of torrential rainfall does any good, does it?

Tec

Allan Report 6 Mar 2010 23:30

Tec, its as bad as the wind!

All the topsoil gets washed away and down into the rivers, plus all the stock being drowned if they can't find high ground, all the physical damage to property.

It must be heartbreaking for affected families

I thought it was only the British who were supposed to go on about the weather!

I don't believe it has anything to do with global warming myself, 'tis a cyclical thing....judging by the many weather reports I have read since they began.

If anyone cares to read the weather reports in the Ozzie papers from years back, for England and the rest of the world, they will find many stories of the same as today, if not worse.

Yes, you have to feel for those whose livelyhood and property are affected by freak weather, be it fire , wind or water, or drought.

weather throughout the world is very disturbed.

Time for bed - Enjoy your Sunday, look after the painful knee, no jogging around the town LOL

Goodnight Allan, Goodnight Mystic Meg (Diane)

Hello Susan with numbers.

Whilst I agree that I have my doubts about the cause of the weather, the effects are still the same!

It will give the Insurance Companies a little needed excuse to raise premiums next year!

Just popped back to say Hi to Susan with numbers,

You may well have a point there Susan - I too have thought about that theory.

CC........ You've now blown my mind, just as Im off to bed. Please don't do that, I won't sleep thinking about it.

Goodnight again all

Good night Tec

CC, I can offer no explanation but I will make your stint as 'sheepdog' (rounding up the waifs and strays) easier for you as I am also going to retire to read the Sunday paper: as well as thinking up new ways to avoid being spotted on these boards :0))

Sleep well

Hello all:-))

I dropped in to let you all know that we are all fine and haven't been washed away. Thanks for your concern Allan:-))
The weather down here has been crazy, I was reading the paper this morning and saw the pictures of Melbourne. We cant still possibly be in a drought with all that rain, surely??? Hopefully some of this rain is making its way into the water catchments!!!!

Its another overcast day with some showers, my daughters horse riding has been canceled due to the rain and flooding.

Carole...Hope you enjoy the movie, I am taking youngest next week, so do let me know what it is like. Love Johnny Depp and I have Willy Wonka dvd to watch yet with him starring in.

Berona Report 7 Mar 2010 05:50

It's still dry and hot here and we are in the middle of Queensland and Victoria! I understand that the Qld floods are the 'once in a century' rains.

The northern part of NSW has had flooding but not around the Sydney area. The inner-city has flash-floods, but their stormwater drainage could do with updating. Otherwise it's dry as a bone here with the occasional shower so light, it's of no use to anything or anyone. However, with no torrential rain and no fires for quite a while now, we will no doubt get our turn quite soon enough!

Errm,

Hello all, from a rather sheepish Allan!! :0))

I went to change my Board name so that I could create a thread under the new name, decided against it, and now I can't change my name back to Allan.

All suggestions ( and critiscisms!!!) welcome!

Janet.. the movie was fantastic, You and your youngest will love it. Johnny Depp was great. I wont say any more.

The movie Alice in Wonderland is for mad people only, so you would all need to go and see it.

I see we have a new member of the thread, Allam is a bit of a strange name though

Hi Allam,

Welcome to the thread PMSL. I would run but can't and my toes are cold again.... getting fed up with this lark - I was on computer so long on Thursday my leg positively ached afterwards. It took me so long to catch up reading, tonight as well - gosh you are a chatty bunch.

My youngest has just purchased her first house in Wellington so she is yahooing loudly. Their rent was fairly formidable with living so close to the city. It is quite a cute little place with bedrooms upstairs but like a lot of Wellington inner city houses there is no garage. One place they flatted in they had to have a permit to park in the street.

Weather has done some strange things lately and who is to say that it won't snow in Sydney again or Auckland for that matter - they have both had a turn in the not too too distant past.

Persey in her football jersey. xx

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Mar 2010 10:30

Why are you wearing a football jersey Persey?

My youngest spent yesterday looking at houses in London as well. Now they are crazy prices

The sun is shining here, but I am not fooled as it is freezing out there.
