Sue, Ironically one hot match on here did tie in with someone elses. I sent them the info which I had receieved a polite thank you and then nothing. I sent a couple of pm's asking if the info was useful but I never got a reply, although I still have access to their tree.

We were both looking for Willian Coe from Northwich in Cheshire (My GG Grandfather) There were in Fact two but they were cousins.

I've just been looking at those Google maps...fascinating. I've seen a couple of houses that we used to live in!

Good evening all.
I have to admit Allan, that I saw the thread about Google street view before I checked to see if my house had finally been included.

It has been a glorious day here, really warm ,well ten degrees anyway. It is cold again tonight. That is what happens at this time of year,when we have no cloud cover. It was definitely spring like today. The bulbs are all appearing, there are snow drops everywhere, but the crocuses are now opening as well. The daffodils area bit behind time though Some of the trees are starting to come into bud as well, so things are definitely progressing

Good evening Linda,

I'm pleased that your weather appears to be a bit more seasonal now.

One of the houses, in Bollington would be nearly forty years old but looks as though improvements have been made during that time

It must be very interesting for you to see where you used to live. For my family tree, I have been back to all the houses I have lived in and photographed them . Luckily I live close enough to do that. The new Google will be good because you can take a screen shot and save it,even if you can't get there in person

Linda, ultimately I'd like to get back to the UK as I still have a little Superannuation waiting for me. If I transfer it to Oz the UK Gov will tax it at 55% because my current scheme is not one recognised by it: then the Oz gov will take its share.

If I can have it paid out to me in the UK it is tax free!

We haven't been back to the UK since arriving here in 1982. I'd like to take some photos of family graves etc!

I think that you owe yourself a retirement trip Allan. The fares are not too bad and hopefully you will have plenty of relations willing to save you hotel bills

I am going to have an early night.
nothing personal Allan......

Berona

Berona Report 11 Mar 2010 22:27

I think it happened in earlier generations, when the population was less and families didn't move around much.

My gr/grandfather George, was gr/gr/grandfather to Warren (my second cousin, once removed). We all shared the same surname...Warren married the gr/granddaughter of George's brother Henry - again, she not only had the same surname, but her christian name was the same as mine too.
When a Genes member couldn't find details for Warren's wife, they assumed that they had found them when they found mine, and put them in their tree - then allowed various people to have access to their tree.
I wasn't impressed to find that I was married to two different men at the same time - making me a bigamist - and mother to two extra children I hadn't known about!
It has taken me a long time to sort it out - and I know that there are still trees uploaded to the internet with that information on them. Most of the people I contacted did correct their trees, but a couple have never acknowledged my emails. They possibly have new addresses, or are not interested in correct information.

Afternoon,

Most of us pop in here whenever but Tec is the one reliable person that always comes on of an evening in the UK so our immediate thoughts go to that we hope the Duchess is Okay - and also hope Tec is feeling up to par. I know he said sometimes he would rather curl up with a good book so hopefully that is all that is happening in Wales and that he is now fast asleep dreaming up wonderful exploits with Allan or dancing the light fantastic with Berona. At least we know he doesn't chat to the bins of a night time unlike Allan who is a well known MGB chatter upper.

~~~~~~~~~~~lots of waves to y'all.
And I will come back now ya here.
Hey!!!
Leave my bins alone.
But I do hope that the Duchess is OK, as the health of Mrs Tec is the one thing that would stop Mr Tec from posting on here.
Tec, I hope that all is well in your household.
A belated good morning to you,
I haven't heard from Tec either,so I too am worried.
The Google street view is fascinating isn't it Allan.I have been looking at all sorts of places, though lots of my childhood places, like my school have been demolished. Just shows how old I am I suppose
Hello everybody:-))
Tec - glad you're still with us:-)
A few weeks ago we were asked out to dinner at our local club by my brother and his wife. We were joined by some of their friends. We hadn't met their friends before so it was nice to meet new people one of whom has a great interest in family history. With some information he gave me I was able to break down a brick wall for him. My brother again asked us out last night and we met up with the same people again and it was very enjoyable.
Today we are going to babysit all day and overnight while our daughter and her partner spend a weekend in Sydney. It was our suggestion as they have been very busy over the last few weeks with the new routine of school and work etc. There is so much to do in the city so I know they'll enjoy themselves. On Sunday morning the children's father will pick them up for the day so it's really a short babysitting weekend for us as my daughter will be home in time for when they come home. I'm looking forward to spending time with them as we haven't really spent a great deal of time with them lately. I hope the weather stays nice so we can take them to the local park.
Allan Report 12 Mar 2010 21:16
Hello to all
Tec, nice to hear from you: you had us worried.
Sue, does that babysitting session mean that Tec and myself can have another day off?
Whoohoo...and mh OH goes to Perth on Sunday to see Tom Jones. Leaving here about 08.00am as daughter wants to catch up with a couple of people before the concert. Will no be back home until late monday morning.
I might invite a couple of floozie bins over for the day:0))
Yesterday Perth had 41c we reached 38c. Cooler weather forecast for the next few days, with the possibility of rain.
Spent a couple of hours yesterday revisiting places we knew from the UK: it was like having our very own magic carpet, hopping between Cleethorpes, Bollington, Middleton and Manchester.
