The meal was nice and I only had one glass of wine,so my typing fingers are not so befuddled tonight

Linda - how do you get your "Last Reply" to 'hold' in Reverse? I can do it on this thread, but as soon as I leave the thread, all others are oldest first and when I return to this one, it has changed back to that too. Is there a special setting for this?

Allan

Allan Report 12 Mar 2010 22:25

Sorry Berona, I haven't a clue.

I've reverted (out of choice) to just clicking on the pages until I reach the latest.

It's a bit fiddly I know, but at least is keeps all the recent threads in order, if I need to check something posted earlier.

OOps, apologies to Berona and Linda!

I thought that the request was a general one

I only skimmed the post

I don't know Berona. I am using Firefox and when I open the thread up, I just double click on the Last reply and it makes the last reply first. If I go to any other thread, they are all turned around, when i come back here, it is still backwards. It only reverts if | close Firefox down

Tecwyn Report 12 Mar 2010 22:45

I the same as you Linda, double click on last reply.
While you've got your technical advisors hat on, I noticed on another thread that you gave advice to someone about gedcom - but what is Legacy?
If it's too lat at night for such questions, tomorrow will do.

Incidently, the cinema has been secured by the group of people interested, looks like it has a bright future.

Legacy is just a family tree programme I use it for my tree on my home computer. It is similar to family Tree What software do you use for your tree?

That is good news about the cinema. I hope it works out

I don't have any softwear for my tree as yet. My tree is just on GR, and being transferred to Ancestry in a thinned down version.

Because I am old, and sad, and thick, I don't understand what softwear I need.

Please don't shout at me -- I'm fragile as well lol,

Tec

Oh poor OLD Tec - I hear violins!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Mar 2010 23:03

I would never shout at you Tec and if you want to transfer it to Legacy which is free, or to transfer it to Ancestry, I will hold your hand (in a virtual sense) It is incredibly easy to do and GR is a dreadful programme, totally unsuitable for building a tree.
I have actually written a lot of basic "How to use Legacy" hints, i did this for another site

I like violin music Berona, thank you, even if you are being facious, and I can't spell fasious either - I could once, but you will know what I mean.

Linda - I need all the help I can get, so would be forever grateful for your assistance.
Maybe we can come back to this.

Tec - every time you say you are old, you remind me that I am older!

Tecwyn Report 12 Mar 2010 23:18

Well I'm off to bed now - it's cold, and I'm tired, no violins Berona please lol.
So enjoy your day everyone Down Under,
and sleep well Up Top - keep warm.

Goodnight all,

We can indeed come back to this Tec. It is bedtime now, so I will bid you all adieu
(Berona don't let on, but if I side track Tec, by helping him with a family tree programme, then he won't have time to mess about with Allan)

Berona

Berona Report 12 Mar 2010 23:23

Good idea Linda. That Allan can be such a naughty boy and a bad influence on Tec.
I'm going now too. Have some things to do.
Goodnight Linda and Tec.
Allan - enjoy your day and keep cool!

Hello all:-)

Linda, I would also be interested to know more about Legacy. A while ago my daughter downloaded a program from the internet, which I haven't been able to use, so haven't bothered with it. I think it is really wise to have your tree offline.

We are enjoying beautiful weather here at the moment, its feeling more like spring here, with all the rain we've had - everything is growing like mad and so green!!!
I have had a hectic week this week, with work and my offspring's many activities.
Last night I took my youngest to see the movie 'Blind Side' with Sandra Bullock - it was a true story, excellent, I highly recommend it!!!!

I hope everyone is well, as Janet say's "keep smiling"

Hello Carole,

I'm pleased that all is well.

Very cloudy and humid here.

I feel a bit of a fraud...only 20 people on my tree so far, including living relatives (no access). My Gran was one of ten children but at the moment I am concentrating on direct relatives only.

Evening Everyone

I would've thought that the blokes would all be suffering from whiplash injuries looking at your new haircut Linda.

Glad to see you are okay Tec, digging holes in the garden will not get you any closer to Australia.

Saw your postings Sue and Berona on Stephen's thread. I saw his first thread which named in capital letters a certain person and Janey had a go. Then finally when he got up he took the offensive name out - which I also saw and then the next thing Zap. He is a nice chap - his son is coming out to NZ in June for a year so have given him some travel info and our phone number to contact.

Allan - one of my contacts has only 16 people on her tree here but she has heaps of information - I had coffee with her and she brought with her all sorts of data for me to see and take home. And as I probably said before I have another contact who has over 90,000 people in his tree and if he wanted to he could have taken even more of them from mine as they are pleny that are related to him.

The most intriguing one on here for me was a woman who wanted to be able to load her ancestors fom 200BC and was unable to do so on genes. Mind Boggles when you get back that far. Do you think my liking for geometry (my best subject at school) harks back to me descending from Pythagoras/

Have been out today - first time in two weeks - had lunch out and hobbled around pushing the super market trolley - was a bit harrowing on the travelator with it. My OH was beginning to wonder if I would be having cabin fever.. I am just about sudokoed, code-crackered and crossworded out. Was really tired by the time we got home and fell asleep hence the fact that I am now wide awake when I should be in couch.

Persey xx
