Carole I hope your weather is still Springlike, though I know you are going into Autumn - last year we had a fantastic October here, which is our early Autumn.
Today is dull and overcast, but a little warmer, they threaten double figures tomorrow, 10-11 c, positively tropical.
The mountain at the back of my house is black today, following a "grass fire" that is actually the heather, and the bracken and gorse burning. There has been a spate of these fires throughout Wales in the last week. Some are the result of hill farmers deliberately setting fire to the vegetation to keep it down, but the wind gets up and the fire is out of control. Others have apparently been deliberately started by idiots.
These mountain fires are of course not comparable to the dreadful bush fires in Australia, though some have come perilously close to mountainside properties.

Perse....... Couldn't you get OH to give you a piggy back around the supermarket? He could lean on the trolley, and you'd have no trouble reaching things on the top shelves! Far easier than clonking round with that thing attached to your foot.
How can anyone claim to get back to 200 BC? If you want to be descended from Pythagoras, then I'd like to be a descendant of Archimedes - I was very impressed at school by his principle of "The Screw" and the movement of water.
I have abandoned my digging operations for the moment, so will be even longer getting down under. Working on the theory that it might be easier to keep going in a straight line round the globe, rather than digging downwards. The oceans could be a problem.

Allan,.....Nothing wrong with having 20 people in your tree, if you know they are correct and factual, far better than 90,000 wild guesses, and names and dates that mean nothing to you really.
A case of quality, not quantity in the end I think.
I can trace my 3xGt Grandmother's line back to 1558, but wonder do I want that information - I don't know? I like to have that record written and recorded, but do I need it in my tree - I don't think so.
Berona reckons you're a bad influence on me - I think that at my age, a bad influence is no bad thing - so far I've led a blameless life, and it's getting sooo boring. My options for mischief recede as the years pass.

Hi everyone, Tec, i've come out of my book for a little bit. i think that I'm incline to agree with you. I've got 1009 people on my tree but I think only a small number mean anything. i had this theory that somehere along the line I'd be distantly related to one of my friends.

Hi Pat, Gosh that must be a good book.
It is strange what we discover in our research.I recently found out that I was related to a boy I went through school with in Essex. Niether of us realised this of course, though curiously, there were strong physical resemblances, which would have come down through paternal genes.

Pat, My father's family were Essex people, and although I was born in Wales, my mother being Welsh, I was brought up in Essex, and returned to Wales when I was 16 yrs old.

Good evening/morning everyone
Tec, with the 20 people in my tree I have the certs etc for them all and the census records from 1841 onwards. I have both grandfathers shown but until I have more info I cannot do any research into their respective families.
I suppose I could include my paternal great grandfather as his name is given on my grandfathers marriage certificate.
Ah well, I may change my name by deed poll to Joshua and try to make the walls tumble down.
Persey, glad to hear that you have managed to get out of the house for a while.
Hello Pat, that must be a very engrossing book :0))
Hello to Diane if you are looking in. I hope that it is not too chilly in Liverpool Town.

Good evening everyone. My brain is scrambled tonight. I have spent all afternoon filling in forms to do with the sale of my mothers house. Why they need just about the same information on lots of different forms, I have no idea. I still have some to finish off tomorrow. i also finally got round to filling in her tax from. Of course there is one missing interest statement,so I will have to try and contact that bank on Monday. It is the worst one to deal with as well.
Carole and Tec, I will sort of the Legacy stuff tomorrow.

Good evening, Linda
I hope that the form filling will soon be over for you.
It can't be very pleasant, especially on this particular weekend in the UK.

I have been trying not to think about that Allan. I did get upset a couple of weeks ago when i went to York and all the shops were plastered in adverts. I wonder if OH has squirrelled away things from my children when he has got to the post first.
He has just come into the room with a sandwich which he has made for his supper. That would be fine if it wasn't made from raw onion which was left from when I was making dinner. He is going to fun to sleep with tonight.

My apologies, Linda, I didn't mean to upset you
Many years ago i used to consume pieces of raw garlic whilst chopping them for inclusion in sauces etc.
My Oh left me in no doubt about what she thought of the practice and I haven't done it since!

Good morning/evening everyone. I too, am wondering how anyone can trace their ancestry back before the 16th century Wasn't it only then that the churches were asked to keep records? I can imagine that landowners could have records prior to that....but B.C.????
I have just over 400 names in my tree. That's my father's direct line - also, my mother's paternal side (I have her mother's side in book form and haven't added it yet). I have also done my OH's paternal side back to the 1500's and enough to say that neither of our families were ever connected until WE married.....and yet, my Hot Matches this week, have shown up two names in common with another GR member's tree. One of them is MY ancestor - the other belongs to my OH's side. I have sent a message asking how we are related and I'm looking forward to reading his reply - if I get one!

I can imagine how people feel on Mothering Sunday if they have lost their mother in recent times. However, for those thinking of Alison, I don't think her family will feel any worse to-day than usual because we celebrate Mothers' Day here in Oz on the second Sunday in May. That's when it will hit them more. It has been many years for me, but even so, when my family makes a fuss of me on that day, I still miss my Mum.

Good morning Berona.
Finally the promise of some rain today.
We did have some rain yesterday, about 30 seconds worth of liquid from the sky that looked as if it was still making up its mind whether to fall or not, and then about 15 seconds worth in the afternoon.
I'd suggest that logically, by the very fact of our individual existence, we can all claim to be descended form very ancient times, but as for tracing the lines, absolutely no way!

You didn't upset me Allan, so no need to apologise. I went to the grave yesterday and had a good chat to her. I told her all about the people who are buying the house (subject to contract and the whole thing going pear shaped). strangely they live in the same street I used to live in before I came here. They weren't there when I was though.
I have just been counting up how many death certs I want to buy before the price goes up. I think that I will have to cut it down a bit, or rob a bank. I have all the birth and marriage certs for all the direct line ancestors for both myself and OH, plus a fair number of the death certs already. I totted up how much I had already spent a few months ago and I was quite shocked lol, still I think it is worth it

I think we must have had the same amount of rain that you did Allan. My pavers are wet, but where the slatted seats are, it is dry underneath - so the weather bureau can claim they got it right for once! They have forecast rain since last Thursday thu to Monday, but once again I can see we are in for another lovely sunny day!

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,
Allan, You could change your name to Joshua in order to tumble some walls, but it would only confuse us, as did Allam. You should certainly include your Gt. Grandfather in your tree, especially as he is named on Grandfather's marriage cert.
Linda,.. The form filling will end - every one you complete is another one less, then the day will come when it's all done and overwith. The world is sinking under the weight of paperwork I think. Please don't bother yet with the Legacy thing, there's no rush is there? Sometime when you're less stressed will be fine, I'm sure Carole would say the same. You have enough to do right now.
Berona, Aswell as researching my family, I have also been doing OHs, and did very well with them. Then I found someone unknown to OH, but related to the maternal branch, had a public tree on Ancestry. I was delighted to find that his information matched my own.

Hello Tec, I hope you have been having an easy day.
The Legacy stuff is just to copy and paymaster, so I will get round to it soon. Anyway, you need to rest after trying to dig your way to Oz
