I have had frozen Yorkshire pud, but it's not like the real thing,
Think I might start practising when it doesn't matter - something to do on a wet Wednesday afternoon in Wales lol.

I can't be bothered to make them, unless it is for something like Toad in the Hole. OH thinks they are a waste of time as well, so we have stopped having them.

Does it rain in Wales Tec?

Sorry folks - phone calls. A couple of people who want to catch me before the day starts:-(

I use frozen yorkshire puds too. I love home-made yorkshires but I really can't be bothered when it's quite likely there's only the two of us for dinner. I do like to make a lasagne from scratch and I love to do a roast dinner.

Yes, Linda! You should be ashamed to admit that you don't make your own Yorkshire pud!

Well, that's the item we don't bother with. No doubt the English mums still make the pud, though. A roast is considered an 'easy' meal because all the vegies go in together - potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, parsnips, onions, capsicums, etc.. All that is left to cook separately is the green/s.

Well I shall be making yorkshire pudding tonight to go with our roast beef. If I am doing any roast at all I have to have roast pumpkin (OH doesn't eat it) I love pumpkin and would happily have it or buttercup, butternut or those little gem ones for my dinner every night. I sometimes crumble fetta over it s well.

I thought to myself the other day I wonder if Allan reads Pratchett since he reads Tom Sharpe - I somehow had the feeling you would do so. One of my customers in the bookshop who read Pratchett also starred in a play with his fantasy book readers group. I enjoyed it but I have never read any of the books - they were good sellers.

I am still having problems with my reply text box - it bounces up and down after two paragraphs and is most annoying. Been doing it ever since we did an upgrade. I don't want OH to fiddle with it - might end up even worse off - despite him doing IT courses a few years back. A little knowledge .....etc...

Persey.

Sue, its only a matter of minutes to make the batter!

Only difference between OH and myself is that I was always taught to let the batter rest before cooking it.

Even just for the two of us, if it's roast beef we have to have Yorkshire Puddings which is why OH makes the individual ones.

Any batter left over is used the following day for pancakes.

Berona we have roast potatoes but the rest of the vegies are steamed.

Well I don't have the recipe for Roman Chicken can I get it on the net?

I make toad in the hole, yorkshire pud, fritter batters and pancakes etc all the same sort of mix - I sometimes do the individual patty tins toad in the holes - and stick a chunk of frankfurter in them - the kids like them. My daughter years ago asked me for the recipe for toad-in-the-hole when she was flatting. I said heck - I just chuck the ingredients in by guess work. She made it for her and her seven flat mates and one of them said what's this? My daughter told her and the flatmate replied "It's ages since I have had toad-in-the-hole - in fact I have never had it before" - and she is a kiwi - obviously a crazy extraction. She married a guy with the surname Robinson and they called their first son Jack. She had never heard of the saying "before you can say Jack Robinson"

I love roast pumpkin but it doesn't seem to be a UK thing at all. When we had visitors from England a few years back I did a lovely roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings but they really didn't like the idea of eating the pumpkin.

Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary. ..

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.................

The Ameriicans only use pumpkins for Halloween - Sue. When they make pumpkin pie the filling comes out of a can.

My British friend that lives in the USA - she made a proper pumpkin pie for visitors when she first went to live there. What a performance to get a pumpkin and the visitors were really impressed - they had never had a real pumpkin pie before.
