Yes Tec, it does seem strange.

And this is just a very normal and sane Thread!

Hello Persey

I shall await the bins with pleasure. People must be desperate to escape from NZ if they have to highjack rowing boats.

It gives new meaning to the term Boat People!

I will have a glass or two of the blackstuff as compensation for my altered plans for today.

Perse do you really have all those different coloured wheelie bins in NZ?

We have green for household waste, brown for garden waste - but I recently spotted a pale blue one at a farm gate, and also a red one at the entrance to a Chalet Park.

I seem to have taken an interest in bins since becoming aware of Allan's fetish - I do hope it's not catching.

Hello, and thanks Janet

Linda, my maternal grandmother was Irish, she hailed from Dublin (unlike the Queen who reigns in the UK)
and my paternal greatgrandmother was from Cork.

The latter was the Coe who married a Coe!

Don't worry, Tec, you're just feeling a little off-colour

Goodnight CC.....Sleep well,

Hi Janet, Hope the young one is feeling better, do you get reimbursed for all that taxi running about?

Tec

Persephone Report 16 Mar 2010 22:34

Tec all the bins are green but there are various coloured lids to do with the different recycling etc and the different councils. We also have different coloured recycling crates - but a lot of them have gone now in preference to the larger bin and a change of contractor.

One of our enterprising workers cut a very neat rectangle out of the lid of a 240 litre bin and we put the paper shredder on that and then paper was ready to go. The paper shredders that you buy have such small receptacles and one was forever clearing it out so it certainly made a difference.

I have just been outside while you have been chatting. I finally cut back my roses. With all the willing helpers I had here during January and February, I didn't like to ask anyone to check the roses and a few stems had gone from window-sill level to roof-tile level! This time of year is 'boom time' for my roses but mine haven't even had water! Didn't stop them though.
But that's my exercise for a while. No need to jump on the treadmill for a few more hours!

Thanks Tec for asking, he is still not well, the antibiotics should start working soon for him hopefully.

The taxi service is all part of the job of being a mum...:))))

Hope all is well with you and Mrs Tec

Janet we also have blue plastic boxes for re-cycling, it gets a bit confusing as to what goes on which day?

Well I think that this all goes to show that no matter the colour of the bin, they are all the same under the surface!
