Good Morning Allan,

Thank heaven you're here - hopefully to bring a little decorum to the thread.

It's too cold to go commando here believe me.

Good evening/morning everyone! I looked in last night and nobody was here - then I went to bed and you all came out of the woodwork!

Oh dear - please don't tell me our 1000th page will be commemorated with talk of unmentionables!

Hello, Berona and Allan. What subject would be fitting to go into our 1000th page do you think?

Decorum! Allan!

Somehow the two words do not really seem to go together!

Good morning Berona: the tone of the thread has definitely been lowered :0))

Hi Sue.....the fact that as well as a thousand pages, this thread also appears to have the most posts of any currently on the Boards: it is also muti-national, a bit like the Hutt River Province!

Allan

Update: ~~~~~~to CC

that should be Principality above, not Province

I remember reading a post on another thread awhile back that the poster thought this thread was against the T & C's of the site as it called Aussies Only. A couple of people pointed out that it appeared there were more Poms than Down Unders.

Nothing wrong with poms Sue, you should know, you married one.

Hello Allan, I am waiting to hear all about your presents and the chicken

Sue, the PC brigade would have fitted in very well with the McCarthy era in America

They would reduce us all to some clone-like, whispy grey people, who can't express any thoughts in case we cause offense. they are also the ones who are the final arbiters of what is correct.

The Thought Police from "1984" spring to mind. Orwell was spot on!

Knickers to the lot of them!!

Good evening Linda

I'm feeling a bit contrite about the presents, as I had forgotten that a couple of weeks ago OH and I went shopping and I bought a shirt and a new pair of jeans. OH also purchased some clothes and we agreed that they wold be our respective birthday presents.

Son bought me a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky and my daughter got me two casual shirts.

The dinner was very nice and it was great to catch up with them, especially my son as he works in Real Estate and never seems to be home!

Perhaps Allan over-indulged at his birthday celebrations.

I remember talking to a young woman who showed me a photo of her husband - a young man from Chad. I remarked to her that her husband is very dark and what a contrast as she is very fair. She commented on the fact that when they have children they would be a lovely caramel colour. When our conversation ended and she left the room I was told by a member of staff that she felt that what I had said was derogatory and rascist. I laughed at her and said that the young woman was quite happy with what we were talking about and that I didn't think mentioning how dark he is was any different than saying how fair the young woman is. PC does get out of hand at times.

I am glad that you had a nice time Allan.
We don't usually buy each other birthday presents any more, but we try to go away for a break somewhere instead. i have just been hitting the computer tonight trying to find somewhere to go for mine which is just after Easter. I have given up though because at this time of year, the flights from the local airports only seem to go to places we have been to lots of times before. I think I will ring my friendly travel agent and see what she can come up with

Linda, On the Home Page of Legacy they are advertising a genealogy cruise to Australlia/NZ in November - shall all the Poms book it?
