SueMaid Report 20 Mar 2010 03:03

My poor little dog. She's been coughing a lot over the last few days, sleeping most of the time and generally not herself. She was not well this morning so OH phoned the vet and he told us to bring her straight to his surgery. After an xray we were told that her little heart is twice the size it should be and it's labouring. She has a lot of fluid around her heart too. She has congestive heart failure and is quite ill. He has given her some tablets to get rid of the fluid and that will relieve her dreadful cough. He said with the right medication she could be fine but he was talking to us very sympathetically and my instincts tell me she is very ill. He has told us to make sure she doesn't exercise, keep the grandkids away from her and no baths or grooming to be done at the moment. I feel so so sad. She's a lovely little dog and we love her dearly. She's 13 years old tomorrow (Sunday) and I thought she would be with us a few years longer:-(

Oh Sue, that's so sad. Our dogs really do become a part of the family, so its really terrible when they are sick.
I really do feel your pain, give her plenty of TLC.

(((((((hugs))))))))

Thanks Carole. I can't bear the thought of losing her so I'm hoping the medication works. The vet is going to do a couple of tests on Monday to determine exactly what medication she needs.

Sue, all pets are a part of the family, and the thought that one, no matter the age,is really sick hits everyone.

May she live many more doggy years yet.

Thank you Allan. We get so attached to our animals. Hope your cat is feeling a lot happier after her fight with the car.

Sue, the vet said to keep him in for a week.

Yeah, Sure!

He is not limping out of the cat flap, but running :0))

I would say that all is almost well!

Sue - I'm so sorry to learn about your little dog. That's the thing with our pets - they become part of the family, but don't live as long as we do and we have to be prepared to let them go. I hope she gets over this and you have her for a few more years.

I have been listening to a one-hour special on the the radio. Vera Lynn is 93 to-day and her records have been played whilst she has been interviewed in between. I saw her when she was here about 25 years ago, but her records bring back older memories than that.

Hello Sue

I am sorry to hear about your little dog - I can understand what you are going through. They really do become part of the family.

They say don't name your farm animals - but all the cows had names they were all plotted on a big chart in the milking shed bit like their own genealogy.

Give her lots of love and cuddles and I wish her well.

We even eat seaweed in Wales you know.

Now going to try to download Legacy again. It downloaded yesterday, but when finished a box popped up telling me the the publisher wasn't recognised, and did I want to continue. I clicked yes - then zilch - it didn't install, so didn't get as far as using pass word provided.

Will give it another now, let you know what happens.
