Yooooohooooooooooo Janet and WA Sue (the playboy bunny) how are you faring?

I won't wave as you are probably wet enough already. Hope you guys have your hatches battened down.

How's your youngster Janet as well whilst I am talking to you?

My friend that is staying over there who broke both arms - I am quite worried about her - hope she is not running around in a tizz wazz.

Does it come anywhere near you LJS or you able to lurch and hop around? The winds are enough to blow one over by all accounts.

Hi, ladies. I'm concerned about Janet and SusanWA too. Hope they're ok. We also have family in Joondalup so was worried be we just spoke to family in Melbourne and they have had a quick phone-call to say all is wet but ok.

Persephone Report 23 Mar 2010 17:59

Perth, Western Australia’s capital, faces milder weather today after recording its wettest March day since 1971 when wind and hailstones almost as large as tennis balls hit the city last night.

Further thunderstorms are possible today before the weather clears, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rabi Rivett said in a telephone interview today. Winds reached 120 kilometers (75 miles) yesterday as hailstones with a 6 centimeter (2.4 inch) diameter fell, he said.

The Insurance Council of Australia, which represents the nation’s industry, declared the storm a “catastrophe,” which means the initial damage assessment is at least A$10 million.

Berona Report 23 Mar 2010 21:06

Am I first one on the boards to-day? Good evening to all Brits....Clouds in the sky, but sun breaking through here - as usual. Still no rain.
CC - the insurance companies love storms which create havoc - it gives them an excuse to push up their premiums.

A positive gathering, hello everyone.

I have a cold so am feeling slightly yukky, but it is only minor so I shall not require one of Allan's flower bouquets. Good job really as they never-seem to arrive

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 23 Mar 2010 21:21

Hello Linda, Sorry you have a cold - you need to keep warm and pamper yourself with nice things............

It has been raining here since lunchtime. I notice things are turning green in the garden the last few days, and the daffodils are out all along the verges on the way to town.

We change our clocks at the weekend to BST.

Morning Sue. Nice to see all the ladies here, isn't it?

Linda - the flowers might arrive if Allan wasn't so stingy with the postage. He only puts a 1cent stamp on the parcel and since local letters are now 55cents, he can't expect the flowers to arrive. I think he is only joshing us about sending them!

Good morning / evening all

Gee whiz, all the fuss over a bit of bad weather in Perth!

Apparently, at the height of the storm 100,000homes without power. Four major sub-stations hit and no power could be diverted from other areas as the extent of the damage was unknown, and it was to dangerous to allow any workers out.

One car saleyard had 300 new cars written off due to hail damage.

The forecast second storm front didn't eventuate down here an it was hot and muggy.

How does it start......ah yes

When all about you are loosing theirs

Tecwyn Report 23 Mar 2010 21:43

Good Morning Allan,

Glad the storm missed your area - but scary for those affected.

I have always tried to keep my head.

My daughter bought a tea towel here, bright red with large white printing

"DON'T PANIC - KEEP CALM"

I think it's a copy of a wartime poster.
I'm going to frame it and put it on the kitchen wall.

It is good advice in this house at times lol.

Oh Berona, are you saying that the flowers still haven't arrived???

They should have cleared the Nullarbor by now.

When did the postage increase to 55cents?

Scandalous....jumping from 1 cent to 55 cents in one hit. I will have to have words with Mr Rudd

Tec, I probably have a personality disorder ( no comments than you!!)

But in major crises, I remain calm, logical and almost diassociated in my decision making.

However, with those minor things that crop up from time to time I run round like a headless chook and immediately go into panic mode.
