That's worrying - they may not have power if it's still out. The weather patterns around the world are crazy.

Very quiet, Sue.

Reading Terry Pratchett's Science of the Discworld 111

A mixture of science fiction mixed with science fact....a totally absorbing book!

Hello Sue, you were right - he did start to pick up once the antibiotics kicked in.
I'm hoping he will be well enough to go back to school tomorrow:-)
Our kids break up on Friday for first term break, its kinda snuck up on me! I do love it when they are at home.
Ive booked tickets to see Jimeoin for Tuesday week, I'm looking forward to it:-))

I've heard so much about Terry Pratchett but I've never read anything he's written. He has a lot of fans so I guess I should at least try one of his books.

Sue xx

Carole - I haven't seen Jimeoin on the telly for ages. He's very funny:-))

Sue, I think that most power has now been restored, particularly as the follow up storms did not happen.

It gave the Power Workers the opportunity to restore power without any further disruptions.

Sue, with Terry Pratchet you have to take a while to get into the various books.

They start with a semi-serious note but then descend into chaos!

His discworld series are fantastic and so close to the truth.

He is cynical yet comical...and Death takes on a new meaning!!

Cheers!! now pass the bottle:-)

Allan, my OH likes SiFi too. I buy him new books all the time. He's not fussy, I just pick pretty covered books, not being into Si Fi myself - it seems to work, he reads them all!!!

Sue,

his novels are in a series, but each can be read by itself.

If yo want an accurate description of of Australia, start with "The Last Continent"

It feaures Rincewind, the wizard who appears in many books, including the first.

Carole TP's books are classed as science fiction but they really transcend that genre!

They are pure escapism!

And extremely humorous!

Allan, I will have a look for them as I'm sure hubby would like them especially the escapism:-)
He reads every night before going to sleep, it seems to relax him.

Carole, a good starter is "Good Omens".

It is not actually one of the Discworld series but does contain Death who appears in most of TP's books.

Death speaks in uppercase and is very human!

As with most of TP's books, it is based on some existing theme, in this case "The Omen" but what a marvellous and humorous twist.
