I know the British Times Berona - they are easy because they are on the boards and me being 13 hours ahead as well - I just get a bit lost with the Ozzie times - we gain two hours when we go to Victoria and then when we cross over into South Australia we gain another stupid 1/2 an hour. Which seemed crazy as we were travelling in a straight line north at the time up through Mt Gambier. When we are in Oz we keep one cellphone on NZ time and one on Oz time. We wake up NZ time and that gives us a good start for the day in Aussie - and also gives us a bit of a lie in. We pack a lot of sights and goings on in one day... hate to miss something.

I must leave you for now, too. I have to report to my GP now that she has had time to get her instructions from the specialists. Time for my 'flu needle anyway. Sleep well, Brits - have a nice day those of you on my side of the world.

Not sure without looking it up, but I think we have three times zones in this country. When I worked for a place which had branches 'all over', we had the time difference written up on the wall in large letters. Otherwise, I don't have much to do with other states, except on here! I have become used to thinking of Allan as being 3 hours behind - but that will change to 2 hours on Sunday week because we go back an hour - but Western Oz elected not to have daylight saving (probably just to confuse us Easterners!).

I know Allan comes on here early in the morning but that is all I know about WA.

I know when I went to the States I had my 17th birthday twice - once in NZ and then in Hawaii.

Perse,
What did you think of Hawaii??

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 24 Mar 2010 23:07

Persey, what more do you need to know about WA?

It has a lot of nothing and great distances in between!

The SW of WA is more compact for any given value of compact, but once you head north or east, carry plenty of water.

Persephone Report 25 Mar 2010 01:56

Actually I do no more about WA - since my father was born there and my grandparents were married there.

And my Great grandfather on the other side went mining there and two of his sons were born there.

But I have yet to go there.

I was just seventeen Tec - I liked Hawaii very much - but it is probably nothing like what I saw. I didn't go to the beach - I don't do beaches - I am too fair and look stupid with all that white skin.

Australia is nearly 3000 miles wide. Three standard times, Unfortunately, daylight saving confuses things. WA decided last year that they didn"t want it any more. Queensland never had it, None of your wacky southern ideas here. Time calls on ABC Newsradio and ABC overnight are a hoot.
It;s 3 am in the east, 2 am in Queensland, 2,30 in South Australia, 1.30 in Darwin and midnight in the West.
Still, imagine China which has one time zone for the whole country. Beijing, naturally. So in the far west the sun rises about midday and sets at nine or ten pm.
