Sue, unfortunately it has always been the same through all our history.

Any deviation form the 'norm' must be hidden so as not to offend 'polite' society

And the authorities in the 19th century even had the gall to allow the inmates of Bedlam to be on to display as though they were a tourist attraction!

Cruel people are referred to as animals, yet animals do not indulge in an iota of things that humans do. It is an insult to animals!

Linda - is Tec getting cranky with us?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Mar 2010 22:46

I think so Berona, so we had better soothe him. After all if a job is worth doing it is worth doing slowly (oops I meant well)

Poor Tec:-(

Allan - I get on my high horse about the whole subject. I hate intolerance of any kind - although we are all guilty of this at times. My blood boils when children are involved. My daughter was annoyed that her eldest who has just started school was teased by a boy in his class because he hugs his friends when he goes to school. The boy told him he's "gay". They are five years old for heaven's sake.

Linda - are you on the plonk? You're duplicating.

Berona

Berona Report 26 Mar 2010 22:50

How do they know what 'gay' is at the age of 5?

Sorry Berona, I have shut down and restarted because everything was grinding to a halt.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 26 Mar 2010 22:55

Exactly, Berona. Grandson's friends consist of boys and girls and all he does is hug them when he arrives at school. His teacher thinks it's lovely especially as he gives her a kiss bye bye when he finishes at the end of the day.

You talk about sheep as in out in the country.
We have sheep and a few cows right here in Auckland City. My American friend is most amused by this - that one can drive up One Tree Hill (also known as Mt Maungakiekie and Cornwall Park) and pass cows on the way - they roam the paths etc and one has to be careful to not stand in a
"just like a farm." The park also has a restaurant and two old homesteads at the back of one of these is a film room which continually shows the history of Mt Maungakiekie - is a wedding venue, has a childrens playground, botanical gardens, pond, an observatory (which has an observation evening every week for school classes etc) and on top of the hill is a cenotaph/obelisk.
And it is just with 5 - 10mins from our place, and a short bus ride from the CBD.

Persey who has always had a backyard.
