Berona Report 28 Mar 2010 21:34

Good evening/morning all.

Allan - I know you did it deliberately and you will be happy to know that by the time I was finished calculating time differences, I did exactly what you wanted me to do!....I jumped up thinking "I haven't changed the clocks" and then realised that I don't have to do that until NEXT week!

I found this thread on page three again. Come on, gang - we can't have that!

Tecwyn Report 28 Mar 2010 22:02

Good Morning Berona,

I hope you are well today, and that the weathers promises a nice day.

Maybe everyone else has been abducted by aliens, or are trying to work out what time it is in the rest of the world.

Tec.

Good late evening Tec and Good normal morning (util next week) Berona

I just became even more confused yesterday, like the Irishman in a room full of shovels and told to take his pick!

Tecwyn Report 28 Mar 2010 22:11

Good Morning Allan,

Like the shovels and pick joke.

I am just confused..........full stop.........about everything.

Maybe it comes with advancing old age?

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 28 Mar 2010 22:28

Tec, time is an illusion

I am reading "The Science of Discworld 111" at the moment and Terry Pratchett and co-authors have demonstrated a) that time does not exist and b) that it is extremely flexible!!

So there is no such thing as advancing age, it is mere maturity!

Allan - it's only 'normal' morning for you - it's still daylight saving time for us Easteners until next Sunday.

Tec - you are not allowed to talk about old age, remember?

I can't stay to-day. My medics are still giving me the once-over and to-day I have to have another blood test, then be elsewhere within the hour to have a heart monitor fitted - all part of the process of elimination. Then, I have to be off early again tomorrow, to have the monitor removed - so I'll have to talk to you later, perhaps in our evening/your morning!
Cheers.

Good morning Berona

A heart monitor?

Or a 24 hr. Blood Pressure monitor.

I had one of those on once every time it measured my BP it gave a beep, gave me a shock...and my BP went up :0))

Hello,
I have just realised that it is nearly bed time and i have not been on here. I have just spent hours going round in circles trying to help someone with their tree. The answer of course is "buy the birth certificate", but some people won't be told and are just happy to fabricate a tree. He had a lovely tree on Ancestry, or he did until I pointed out a few errors.

Allan

Allan Report 28 Mar 2010 22:51

Good evening Linda

Whilst I have very few people in my tree, I do have the certs and census entries to back them up!

Plus about half a dozen certs for people whom I thought could be rellies or to exclude them from my search

Allan

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Mar 2010 22:52

err, I daren't add up just how much i have spent on certs, lets just say it is rather a lot

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 28 Mar 2010 23:04

Good Evening Linda,

I'm sure anyone appreciates mistakes in their tree being pointed out, otherwise the whole thing becomes a work of fiction.

Berona, I hope your time with the medics is worthwhile. I've worn a heart monitor several times - they decided I haven't got one lol.

Allan, I have long thought there is no such thing as time, only how we, and other creatures perceive it.

Tec.

Good evening CC

I do have a BP monitor at home but until recently my GP did not believe my readings as they conficted with hers. So off to the Specialist every few years but nothing changes except that my bank balance decreases each time!

You may have a book of gold stars for your housekeeping efforts

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Mar 2010 23:23

If you have a gold star, what will you strive for next CC? Are you sure a silver one won't do?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 28 Mar 2010 23:26

Good Evening CC.

Gosh - you have been a busy bee today - I must have one of those "sorting out" days very soon. I never seem to find the time, so I must set aside a day especially for that and nothing else.

I have quite few certs, but need lots more, so I've compiled a list of priority certs to send for. Thought I would send for two a month from now on.

I suppose that I had better go to bed as the clock says that it is late, even though my body know;s it isn't. Sorry to not have been around for long.See you all tomorrow

Allan

Allan Report 28 Mar 2010 23:37

CC part of the Specialist's costs are refunded by Medicare, but there is still a 'gap' between what the visit costs and what you can claim.

I don't have private medical insurance, but even that will not pay for the 'gap'

Goodnight Linda,
Sleep well, keep warm.

CC. Scripts are free to everyone in Wales now. For years I bought a "season ticket" because there were so many items on my repeat script.
I take a cocktail of tablets every day, three times a day. 16 in total. So if you hear there's been a huge chemical explosion in Wales, it'll be me lol.

Allan

Allan Report 28 Mar 2010 23:48

Gee Tec, in Oz unless you have either an aged pension card or a health care card you have to pay for prescriptions.

My medication costs me nearly $100.00 a month, but as I haven't been working since December I'll be applying for a low-income health care card, but the forms themselves are over forty pages long!

Tecwyn Report 29 Mar 2010 00:03

Allan,
The NHS here is desparately short of money, yet there are free scripts across the board for everyone. I agree this is right for pensioners, and people on low income, or unemployed, and long term sick, but many people can afford to pay for the odd prescription.

Likewise the £200 a year Winter Fuel Allowance for the over 60s - essential to the above mentioned, but I have a brother, over 60, MD of his own company, and seriously wealthy. Whereas the £200 means a great deal to many people, there are millions that it means very little to.

Tec, the Social Service system over here is in a mess.

It seems that those people who need it are put through hoops to claim it while others just seem to get allowances straight away.
