Heavens CC! You must have been typing for more than an hour to do that lot!

You weren't serious about the lawn mower licences, were you? If so, don't tell our politicians about it!

Hello Pat,
Hope you have a lovely weekend in Portsmouth - Happy Easter to you and your family - take care.

Hi CC. I enjoyed your jokes, a funny read. I just hope the Chancellor doesn't pick up on your lawn mower tax. I think after the General Election we will all be taxed out of our minds, whoever is in power.
I expect there will be a meter fixed to the cistern in the bathroom. We will be taxed per flush.
My new roses are bareroot,so will be ok for a few days provided I keep them damp. The ground is all ready and prepared, but a bit too wet at the moment due to days of rain, but Sunday looks promising.

hello all, whatever time it is.

Pat enjoy your break!

Good evening Tec

CC, a female colleague and myself once played a joke on a male colleague working in my department.

I was the manager at the time, and the guy was well known for making "off-colour" jokes and comments. His humour was harmless and never directed at any one personally, but we decided to teach him a lesson.

Basically we told him that there had been a complaint of s*xual harassment made against him by my co-conspirator. We managed to make the whole thing last for four days, with several letters of apology from him. I can keep my face straight when required!!

If there is a tax on the number of flushes, would the Queen pay on a Royal Flush?

Hello everyone. It took hours just to read CC's posts so I'm a little late replying:-))

Hi Pat - hope you have a lovely weekend with your family. We haven't been to Portsmouth but hope to next trip.

My town is buzzing with the news of a doctor at our local medical centre who has been arrested and charged with assault on two young women in his surgery. How could a doctor betray the trust people put in him? The girls are only 17 and 18 years old:-(

Good morning, Sue

There's a lot of it going on at the moment!

One eminent doctor in Perth struck off, and another under investigation, for the same thing.

A teacher in the WA goldfields charged with indecently dealing with a 10 year old had over 30,000 images of child pornography on several computers at his home.

STOP PRESS

It has just started to rain, and quite heavily.

Plenty of lightning about earlier but until now, no rain.

Typically, though rain is forecast for the entire Easter period!

There are some dreadful people around and that makes us forget all the truly good people out there. Just a small example. My daughter was working yesterday and a client mentioned that there was a one day sale in a store in town and she was going up to buy clothes for her son. My daughter said that her boy needed new undies but she wouldn't have time to get there. She came back from her lunch break to find that the client had bought her 4 pairs of undies for my grandson and told my daughter's boss that she didn't want the money.

Sue as with all walks of life, the bad are in the minority, but receive all the publicity.

It tends to make our views somewhat skewed!

I wish that good deeds were reported more frequently to give a balanced view!

Hello all. Happy Easter to you.

Beautiful day yesterday. Very cloudy to-day, although the 3 day rain forecast has been changed to none to-day, then two days of it. I suppose that if the weather people change the forecast, it gives them a chance to say "well we did say....." whatever happens!

I agree Allan but good deeds don't make the newspapers. Also public opinions can be very harsh. We have more news in our area. An abandoned baby left on a doorstep - new born and healthy. "Dreadful mother" everyone cries - "how could a mother do that to her baby". Is there no compassion for a woman who has just given birth and is so desperate and perhaps suffering from post-natal depression?

Hello to you all, whatever the time.

Allan, That was a naughty trick to play on your colleague, but funny - poor guy.

Sue,, We seem to have cases reported every day about people in positions of trust and authority being charged with indecency or child pornography - it is sickening.
It is good that these creeps are being caught, and it's a pity we don't hear much about the good people who are honestly and decently doing very worthwhile jobs.

Hi Sue. I agree that to abandon a baby like that, although it's possible for the mother to have a callous attitude - I feel that it's more likely she is desperate - perhaps hiding and very much in need of support, as well as medical attention.

Allan

Allan Report 1 Apr 2010 23:12

Sue, the other side of the coin.

Tragically, the young lady who had a second liver transplant died in Singapore yesterday. She was 23, a mother and a drug addict. She had her original transplant a couple of years ago but carried on using heroin, which caused that transplant to fail.

She was not eligible to go back on the transplant waiting list and many people said that this was unfair.

The State Government gave an interest free loan of $250,000 to the family to enable them to go to Singapore for the operation which was a "live" transplant using part of her Aunt's liver.

Although she succumbed to an infection, doctor's had to remove sveral blood clots from near her heart. They did not hold any high hopes of success as her drug addiction had caused damage to her veins.

Hello Berona - I just hope the mother isn't a young girl on her own.

Hi, Tec - yes unfortunately it seems to be a common occurence. I guess that's the downside of modern technology - the downloading of disgusting material. It just brings it closer to home when it's in a business that you frequent. The medical centre in town is a large one with a dentist, x-rays, physios etc. It's well run and although you don't always have the personal touch you can see the doctor you want if you're prepared to wait. They have already gone into damage control saying the doctor wasn't an employer but a "contractor". How can a doctor be a contractor? I know one of the receptionists and she told me that the phones have been ringing all day - people demanding to know if their doctor is the one in trouble. I can understand people being anxious.

Allan - I've just been watching that on the news. Poor girl. Yes I know what has been said about her spoiling her chances by succumbing to drugs again but I can only feel sorrow for the death of a 25 y.o. mother. It's heartbreaking to think of those children left behind and her grieving family. The news reported that comments were posted on the internet that would be devastating for the family to read.
