Well, this is worrying!

There should be plots and sub-plots being hatched!

The Sisterhood should be telling Tec and myself precisely how they intend to keep us in line and then snitch...er...report our misdemeanours to mother.

Tec and I should be threatening chaos and world domination.

And the thread goes quiet!!!

It's the calm before the storm.........

Conquerers of worlds have to contemplate method and movement.

This has to be done in silence and solitude - in my case, on the summit of a Welsh mountain - cold, frightened, starving, lonely.

"Think I'd better think it out again" as Fagin said.

The Sisterhood are meanwhile being sly and devious - watching, waiting, ready to pounce.

However, this meglamaniac needs his sleep, so must complete his dastardly plans on the morrow.

Enjoy your day Down Under,
Sleep well Up Top. ~~~~~~~~~~to Diane,

Goodnight,
Tec.

CC,

I thought that the Burkas are a famous British Regiment composed of Nepalese.

I think that the sky blue pink dress would be favourite.

How about trying for WW111 and telling Australia that Tasmania really belongs to the Kiwis.

And speaking of Kiwis, where is Persey these days?

I know that the young lass was feling liberated about loosing the boot, but surely she she can't still be out dancing!

The Ball must be over

Tec's organising the location etc

I'm in charge of catering: I've already started collecting road-kill for the stew.

If you are having difficulty deciding what to wear, I have a nice maid's uniform. You could then earn a bit of money on the side serving meals!

Evening Aussies et al, been doing a family tree for someone so haven't been on much of late, was brilliant mind got back sooooo far for him!

Anyone know on here about alias' during WW1 - would someone use an alias if they were too young - one of my peeps was an Arthur Smith (of all people! lol) and then half way through his Military service there is a statement saying he was permitted to change his name to........(his born name!)

Maybe they didn't need to show anything certified to get into the army?

Flippin Arthur Smith - I have spent weeks on verifying him lol!!!!!

Good to see the rain (but not for too long hey!)

Hi Sal

Sorry I cant help there with your Arthur Smith.

We have also been having some nice rain, it rained here (vic) half the night - we have a tin roof, so it sounds very soothing:-)

Hello Linda, what are you doing watching from the shadows?

Tec, yes, we can claim through our insurance for the kangaroo damage. Looks like its going to take a few weeks until we get the car back.

Sal - they didn't have to show anything to get into the army in WW1 - and they were joining up at 14 and 15. In WW2, they had to have one parent's signature if they were underage - but again, no proof of age.

My gr/grandmother was very proud of her maiden name of Bowran and she named one of her sons John Bowran. However, he died in his first year, and in the following year, another son was born and named John William.
When John enlisted in the army in WW1, he was asked for his full name and mistakenly gave it as John Bowran. He went on to be a hero and there is quite a big write-up on him in the annals of Australian war history - but it's about the John who didn't see his first birthday - not the John William who was the real hero!

Carole, I am just watching Tec and Allan, to see what they are up to. I am glad that you have some rain as well.

Most of my ancestors on dads side didn't figure in the wars because they were miners,so in reserved occupations. Mum's had a common name,so are difficult to trace.

I have been wondering about my coming out dress. i don't want anything too big and flouncy like Diana's wedding dress or I might be mistaken for a spare toilet roll cover. On the other hand I have too many bumps to get away with anything slinky. What a dilemma

As long as soup isn't on the menu, that will be fine CC.You could be correct in your suspicions though, maybe there is no ball

It has been a lovely day here and I have the windows open. I live next to the church and the bell ringers have just started their weekly practice session. They will be ringing for about an hour and a half minimum. They are very good and do some very complicated peals. I like to hear them, although as we are so close, it is very loud.

Speaking of food, I had better go and start preparing dinner. OH has been decorating the hall and landing today. He has had a ladder on the stairs chocced up on bits of wood. Given what happened to Mummo's husband, I have been worried about him. It looked fine to me, but we have lots of pictures on the wall and I was amazed how dirty the paint was behind the frames.

See you later on.

Good Evening Linda,
Good Morning Berona,

Linda I believe that some Txsco stores are open all night!

Berona you'll have to get up earlier than this to catch up with us.

Allan Report 7 Apr 2010 22:24

Good morning/evening all

Tec, as usual, the sisterhood is lost without their leader. It's fine t gor Linda to advise us that she was watching out of the shadows.

That implies darkness. Perhaps Linda should have paid the power bill :0))

And as for CC, how fickle! Alread dropped talk of coming on Commando raids with us and now talking about what to wear for the Ball.......mind you, I've known a few soldiers like that in my time: and they weren't all female!!

Carole, I suppose that the panel beaters in and around Melbourne will be like those in Perth: flat out repairning hail damaged vehicles.

The RAC couldn't send assessors to every claimant so the claimants had to go to one of sveral inspection points. Waits of up to three hours.

Those whose vehicles were judged to be write-offs were told to remove all personal items from their vehicle, hand the keys over and were sent home by taxi (paid for by the RAC)
