And now for the general greetings!

Good evening/morning all.

OH and I had a romantic candle-lit dinner last night. We had fish cakes with tomato sauce!

The power was finally restored at about 7.15 pm!!

Linda,

Not knowing it was your birthday - the "HOW OLD ARE YOU" thing I posted earlier was rather apt don't you think.

Ooh you must be psychic Tec, do you read the tea leaves as well?

Allan

Allan Report 12 Apr 2010 22:20

Tec, the power blackouts are getting beyond a joke!

No storms, no high winds etc.

There may have been a traffic accidebt which bowled a power pole over!

The concept of underground power is only just creeping into Western Australian thinking. The area where we live has underground power, but we are still dependent on sub-stations which also service the overhead system!

The problem is, Western Power (our supplier) will put power underground if communities want it, and if the community pays!

It's like the recent hike in power prices, necessary, we are told, to pay for the Governments Carbon off-set scheme (which hasn't even passed into Legislation) and also to upgrade infrastructure.

I thought our bills would have already taken an upgrade into consideration.

It's called forward planning!!!!!!!

Thank you for arranging the flowers so tastefully CC, I just plonk them in the vase as well. OH brought some flowers back when he came in at lunch time. I was very touched because he usually buys them from the market at the end of the day, but these ones were actually full price

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Apr 2010 22:31

No - I don't read tea leaves Linda, but I do have a crystal ball!!

Allan, We also get frequent power cuts here. We also have overhead power cables affected by high winds.

The cable is strung across the back of the house, has become unfastened from its clips, and enters the house through door frame of the back door, can you believe in 2010. Very archaic.

In our last house, built in the 70s, the mains cable was underground and came up in the corner of the integral garage to the meter.

Good evening CC, thank you for arranging the flowers.

I must have got the addresses mixed up :0))

Actually, mine would have arranged themselves.....they were self-raising flowers!

A Freudian slip Allan? Secretly you wanted to send them to CC

Allan

Allan Report 12 Apr 2010 22:40

I prefer a Pavlovian response, Linda.

I drool when I see a meringue.

Tec overhead pwer is not only archaic, but downright dangerous and very expensive to maitain.

The number of bush fires caused by overhead power is unbelievable,
