Good morning, Linda

How are your bruises today?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Apr 2010 10:35

I don't really have bruises Allan. I always feel miffed about that, I don't bruise easily and can get a very hard knock with nothing tangible to show for it, so I don't get any sympathy. It wasn't really the bruises which were the problem, it was the muscles being pulled, basically all down the right side of my body. As I got up, I could feel the pain across the top of my foot and in my calf muscle, but by the next morning, my shoulders, waist, ribs and triceps were all hurting. Turning over in bed was painful, but I did it on Thursday lunchtime, so I am much improved now just achy rather than in bad pain.

As you are closer to Berona, perhaps you better take her the tea,you could put it in a Thermos flask to keep it warm

Hello Linda - hope all that is hurting is your pride:-)) I know I shouldn't laugh but........

Berona - I hope you are feeling better soon. I think shingles used to be a very uncomfortable condition but these days a lot can be done to help you through an attack.

Susanwithnumbers - you always come on when I'm not around and I miss you:-))

Hi, CC and Allan.

Diane sent me a message and asked me to say hello to all of you - so HELLO.

Hello Sue, good to have you back. I need to go and do things, but I hate missing all of you. By the time you appear on my evenings, I am too tired to stay and need to go to bed

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Apr 2010 10:43

No Allan, don't post it, the glass inside will get broken and we don't want Berona eating ground up glass.
Perhaps Sue could pop round as she is even nearer

I shall happily wait hand and foot on our Berona. She deserves the best.

Berona, you have my sympathy for your shingles.
Linda, you too, for your fall. I think you said it was a very public one; the worst kind. Bruises are not pleasant but at least you would have something to show. Torn ligaments etc are painful. I hope they heal quickly.

Hello everyone:-)

I know I'm late, but... Welcome home Sue, so lovely to see you again:-))
Glad you enjoyed the cruise, the down side is coming home and trying to settle in again.

Berona, So sorry you are unwell, sending huge ((((((hugs)))))) I hope you get well very soon.

Sending Cwtches, to Tec - sorry to hear you have been feeling unwell too.

Deary me, why is everyone so poorly - I think we all need a group hug!!!!

Ive been very busy working on my tree, I recently received my gg grandparents marriage certificate, so every spare moment Ive had has been spent going over everything and then some!!!
I also found a tree on Ancestry with my gg grandparents names in it prior to receiving the certificate. The person though had my gg grandmother born in another part of the country. I'm fairly sure that this person's tree is un-sourced, Ive sent a message - wonder if I'll hear back!!!!

Our weather down here has been just marvelous, thank goodness - I was beginning to wonder if we'd skipped a season and gone straight into winter.
I'm back into my shorts and T-shirt, Linda:-))

Good Whatever it is to you - am - pm,

Linda I hope you are feeling a little less battered today. Maybe you should consider wearing more appropriate footwear when negotiating ploughed fields. The answer to your hay fever is to take a leaf out of Sue's book, and go on a cruise.
I suffered terribly with hay fever when I was young. The worse time always seemed to coincide with school exam time. I could hardly see the paper let alone concentrate. Then when I was 18 years old I had my first trip to sea, and was away for nine months. The hay fever left me completely, and I've never had it since.
So, off you go, either to the Royal Navy Recruiting Office, or the Merchant Navy..........I'm sure you would be made most welcome.

Berona, I am so sorry that you have shingles - do take care, I believe that can be quite painful. I hope the tablets you've had are effective. You were wise to get attention early.
I would prescribe lots of gentle hugs (cwtches) flowers, chocolates, and anything that takes your fancy - get well soon.

Carole, Glad you've made some good progress with your tree - very encouraging isn't it? and gives you an incentive to carry on. I hope you get a positive reply from your new contact. Enjoy your good weather, before winter sets in.

CC. Racism and intolerance is born of ignorance. I have lived and worked with people of all colours and religions. Everyone is the same under the skin - we all bleed when we're cut. Good and bad people come in all colours.
I came gift wrapped in tin foil - oven ready - the Duchess has been roasting me ever since.

I think that I am a little too old for the navy Tec, plus I get sea sick even going over the channel. Oddly the only time I wasn't ill when it was really rough was when I taking a group of school children across. They were throwing up left right and centre and I was so busy looking after them, I didn' t have time to worry about myself

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Apr 2010 21:19

Those cross channel ferries are Mickey Mouse ships - I think I would be ill on one of those. You need to take a trip on a proper ocean going liner.
When we win the lottery you will just have your sea legs.
Have you planted much on the allotment yet?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Apr 2010 21:32

The potatoes and onions are in, plus broad beans and we still have leeks, garlic and Japanese onions which we planted at the end of the year.

I also have various climbing beans and mange tout germinating in the greenhouse, but it is still very cold at nights, so it is a bit early to put too much out

Hello lovely people. Susanwithnumbers has been and gone again. Is she trying to avoid me?

Hope you are all on the mend. I wish we could all cheer up Berona - and no Allan not with one of your bouquets of flowers:-)

Well all is back to normal. I have a meeting today but I'm happy to say that a phone call from our secretary informed me know that a couple of things that I needed to do have been sorted while I was away. I told our secretary that I can't and won't go back to the amount of work I've been doing over the last few months as the pace was too stressful. She agreed and told me I must delegate.

The weather here has been wonderful since we came back. Cool mornings and evenings and warm, sunny days.

Carole isn't it wonderful when a piece of the puzzle falls into place. Some of the Ancestry trees are very frustrating. I made contact with someone who had a great deal of a line of my ancestors on his tree. Although they weren't his direct line they were my direct line. I wrote down all the info he had and then spent a morning checking on it. He had my 5 x great grandmother having a child at 58. I sent him a message and he replied a week later and told me that he had just copied it from someone else's tree and hadn't checked anything!! I went through the records and he had the right names but the dates, children and often the marriages wrong. I sent him the right info. but he hasn't bothered to change a thing.

Sue xx

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Apr 2010 22:12

Good morning Sue,I hope that you will delegate and not cave in and end up loaded with work again.

It is annoying when you come across people who simply copy trees Sue. I have a very large tree, the branches are not all certified, but I make this clear to the odd person I open it to, but I have spent hundreds of pounds on certificates for the core lines, so I am absolutely certain of them

I helped a friend knock down a brick wall this afternoon. It actually was very easy, she should have been able to do it herself. I offered to help on any others, she said she was stuck on another line of people called Williams. That had me heading for the hills (Tec will understand that)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 19 Apr 2010 22:17

Hi, Linda. I too have Williams - from Wales - in OH's tree. I've done a bit with them and the 1901 Census did help a little in finding out who married who etc. but they've been a thorn in my side. My problem is going back further with my father's family. This is the first family I started researching and I just can't get past my 2 x great grandfather although I've succeeded with my 2 x great grandmother's family. I could tear my hair out at times. When we were in Leeds I did spend some time at the library and found out a little bit but not enough to take me further back - I ran out of time.

Allan

Allan Report 19 Apr 2010 22:19

Good morning/evening all

Well what a funny morning, and it's only 5.15 am. I was out for my walk and just looking back at the lights of Bunbury, when I could see a dark shape on the horizon.

Yes it was even darker than the night: the next thing, the lights of Bunbury slowly disappeared and the shape wes coming closer. No cars, which in itself is unusual as there are a few people heading off for early shifts.

It didn't seem like rain, and I could also hear the breakers from the ocean hitting the shore.

I decided to head back home and at last a car came towards me. From the haze around the headlights i realized that the bunbury area was blanketed by a thick fog.

We are now affected.

I hope that it clears up as tomorrow I hev three weeks work in the Margaret River area :0))
