It has been another lovely day here - rather a cool breeze off the sea, but very nice just the same. I did a bit more work around the garden, and now it's looking quite tidy. Sent for a string of 100 white solar lights to go over the framework the supports the wisteria - thought that might look quite jolly intertwined among the pale green leaves. Now I want to make a water feature with a little fountain, also solar powered - that should ensure the sun never shines again.

My car is covered in a light cover of fine grey dust, no doubt from the volcanic dust cloud - we have been warned to hose it off, as it is very abrasive.
I do feel sorry for the thousands of people stranded in foreign parts.
Some have run out of money and medicines - what a nightmare, especially for the elderly, and those with small children. My BIL is stranded in Toronto, but quite comfortable in a hotel paid for by his company. There are no laundry facilities in the hotel, so he has been shopping for new underclothes, socks and shirts. Can only assume he is throwing the used ones away, otherwise my SIL is in for a load of washing when he does make it home.
He is not the kind of man who would go looking for a launderette in downtown Toronto. Niether can I imagine him washing his smalls in the sink lol.

Hope everyone is well. I notice Berona didn't appear on watch yesterday morning, her time, so hope she is not suffering badly.

Tec.

I did enjoy your tale of the three old ladies at the PRO - very clever.

As for getting old.........

If and when I get to eighty years of age, only then will I begin to think that maybe I'm knocking on a bit.
As for the vagaries of getting old - well all I can say is that it's taken a lot of living for me to get to look like this.
I have earned my face - and am happy to live in it.........

Mostly because I don't have to look at it LOL.................

Oh lovely, CC. Just what I need when I get up in the morning feeling 100 years old. A poem reminding me of the advancing years.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~ to everyone
CC I, too, enjoyed your tale of the three old ladies
They are not the three immortalised in song, are they:0))
Tec, my OH doesn't bother with a paper bag over my head. I'm made to have breakfast in a different house (well that's what I told the Jury!)
Good morning Sue.
Well, today has also statred a bit misty, but nowhere near as thick as yesterday, which is fortunate as Margaret River has frequent mists.
Actaully when the fog lifted yesterday at about 10.00am it was a beautiful day.
Good Morning Sue, and Allan,
Sue, I'm quite sure you look ravishing first thing in the morning...........
Allan, Sorry you have to have breakfast in another house.
Glad the mist cleared to give a nice day.
All UK airports re-opened in the last hour.............
Good morning, Allan. Maybe the mysterious fog had something to do with the earthquake west of you. We have a niece and great nephew living in Kalgoorlie.
Thank you Tec - but I'm afraid the mirror says otherwise:-))
Sue those tremors can be quite scary.
Years ago when I was working in Leonora, I had to travel to a meeting in Boulder, which was back then a seperate Town.
Halfway through the meeting the room started shaking fairly violently and although the whole thing was over in a couple of minutes it seemed to have lasted much longer.
Many years ago the townsite of Meckering was destroyed by an earthquake and even today passing through the area on the way to Kal you can still see the Meckering Fault Line,
I agree CC - there seems to be far more rumblings etc. than in past years. Mother Nature letting us know she's still the boss. Shouldn't someone tell her we get the message?
I have my grandson for the day today as his mum is working. He had a little operation just over a week ago and although school has started back after the holidays he's still a bit too sore to go back to school. He's really missing his friends although a couple of them have visited him at home. He loves school and got out his uniform ready to go on Monday. I love having him here. He's so easy to be with.
CC, obviously we are closer to Indonesia than the UK is, but one of my work colleagues at the time was walking along the beach in Bunbury when the tsunami struck.
At the time, althugh he didn't know what was happening he just watched the tide receeding much further then he had ever seen it go before. He said it was a weird sight, and frightening!
No CC - this is the older grandson. Big brother of the little one who had croup. He is fine in himself but just a little sore and uncomfortable. Mum is just a little worried about the playground. Boys do play hard at times:-))
My other grandson who lives in Hobart was only a few months old when his mum - who was in the medical corps in the Airforce - was sent to Bandeh Aceh in Indonesia to help set up a hospital. She was only 23 at the time and saw far more than she told us about I'm sure. I do know - from my son - that she suffered nightmares for a long time after and he sat up with her on many a night because she couldn't sleep. She and others did a marvellous job.
We had a little tremor here some years ago - the epicentre was out at sea in Cardigan Bay. The bathroom cabinet fell off the wall - that was of course my fault for not fixing it properly - and I felt the kitchen floor wobble beneath my feet - very un-nerving.
Sue I hope you have a nice day with your grandson - perhaps you can tell him all about your holiday.
Well I'm off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue and Allan - I do hope Berona is ok.
Sleep well CC, and all Up Top. ~~~~~~to Diane.
Goodnight.
Good night Tec, sleep well
Allan
SueMaid Report 20 Apr 2010 23:37
Goodnight Tec - sleep tight.
I'm quite concerned about Berona. It isn't like her not to pop on and let us know how she is. Even when Berona was having problems with cramps she was able to come on and keep us up to date.
No CC - she found motherhood and the Airforce didn't mix even with dad helping. She'd had enough after Indonesia - it really affected her and she actually went a bit off the rails for awhile. She settled down after awhile but that's why my son got a transfer down to Hobart as she wanted to be near her parents. Understandable although I hated him moving so far away.
Berona hasn't been sleeping well so hopefully she may be catching up. I doubt very much that you have offended Berona, CC.
