Sydneybloke Report 22 Apr 2010 11:04

Very slow, and possibly no one around. But "Get well soon Berona".
I sympathise Allan. At the moment I am doing air monitoring at a site on the north west outskirts of Sydney, near Windsor.
We have decided it is not worth coming back into the office, so I have a few hours leisure in Windsor or nearby Richmond. Then back to the site to pick up the equipment and return to the office at Botany, finally getting home. About 2 1/2 hours driving, much of it on motorway conditions in traffic. 150 km. Thank goodness for the motorway network. I find motorway driving at speed tiring, not to mention the drive home in the afternoon peak.
Fortunately, I don't have to pat the tolls which certainly add up.
Allan, we are only spring chickens but I feel tired, too.
Please forgive the moan.
~~~~~~~~~ to cc, sue, tec and anyone else who might be around.
Berona Report 22 Apr 2010 11:44
Just checking in to say that I'm getting there. Thanks for the good wishes, all of you.
I can resist scratching because whilst I'm upright - standing or sitting - I'm OK, but as soon as I lie down, the itch and pain start (and the one thing I want mostly is to lie down and have a good sleep!!). I spent most of last night on a recliner lounge and dropped off for about three hours there - feeling much better for it to-day. Doc said I can shower, but to keep it basically dry and this has stopped the skin from breaking into broken blisters - thankfully!
Allan Report 22 Apr 2010 12:48
Berona,it's good to hear that you are improving.
Can you sleep upright stretched on a clothes line? :o))
Colin. fortunately, the drive to Margaret River is very pleasant. It is a main tourist destination in WA so the traffic is heavy, but at least it does move.
The journey takes about 90minutes, but it is the travelling all round the region to take the samples, that is tiring!
more so when premises are closed and you have to make repeated visits to them to try to obtain the samples!
Greetings from the Principality,
Bore Da,
Noswaith Dda,
Buried on page 3 - poor neglected thread................
Another lovely day here, warm and sunny. Spent the morning at the hospital outpatients with OH. Spent the afternoon giving the hedge between me and my neighbour a severe trim.
Delighted to have received a message from a distant relative on my mother's side. As I don't know any living person on that side of my family, I was especially pleased. Agreed to share info, though I notice he has only nine people in his tree - that's ok, if I can help, I'm happy.
I wonder if Linda is trying to contact us through her Docking Station - doesn't seem to be working Linda, best buy a computer!
Berona, I hope you had some sleep last night, and feel better.
Tec.
I have beamed down a message just for you Tec
I am all up and running again, although, it ended up costing more than it was supposed to. There were no Windows 7 drivers available for the scanner and the web cam, so I have had to buy new ones. Annoying as the old ones are fine, but there we go.Thanks to my son, everything is up and running and he is on his way back to London. it was nice to see him, even if it was just overnight.
I hope that the duchess passed all her tests at the hospital this morning.
I also hope that Berona has slept better last night, I do worry about her, fuss, fuss, fuss
Tecwyn Report 22 Apr 2010 21:57
Hello Linda - Glad you are back in contact with Mother Earth - you are so lucky to have someone to sort you out - I wouldn't have let him return to London, I'd have chained him to the kitchen table.
The hospital appointment went ok, as far as it goes. They MAY revue her medication, they May revue her insulin, at her next appointment in October. They had no record of her being whisked off in a helicopter in a diabetic come last November.
I went and took out my frustration on the neighbours hedge.
Hello my friends:-)) All well?
Berona if you look in I hope you had a better night's sleep. Take care - you are very dear to us.
Nice to see you back Linda - I've hardly spoken to you since we came back.
Tec - hospitals are frustrating places. How could they not have a record of the Duchess arriving by helicopter as an emergency medical situation!?!
Poor hedge, seriously though I can't believe how useless they are. My brother has similar problems and he has had his review brought forward, but he had to fight hard to get them to do that.
Hello Sue, I bet it feels like you have never been away, it doesn't take long for reality to strike
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Apr 2010 22:10
It has just said on TV that our bye election has just been cancelled because one of the candidates has died suddenly.
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 22 Apr 2010 22:14
In some ways reality has stepped back in but we were saying that at least after a holiday you feel more relaxed and able to cope. I have learned the art of delegating so that's one resolve that I've followed through on.
The sun is shining here and it looks like being another lovely day. We are going shopping today as there are some good specials in one store and I'd like to replace some worn out kitchen items. I'm also going to replace our pillows. Isn't it funny how as soon as the colder months come in the store catalogues start advertising products to make our homes cosier.
Good morning/evening all
~~~~~~~~ to berona, CC, Linda, Sue, Diane (if lurking in the shadows) and Tec

Tec, that must be so frustrating for yourself and the Duchess. I thoyght that computerised systems were supposed to make the exchange of information simple!

Linda, welcome back.

CC until I got to Margaret River on Wednesday I had no idea of the number of manufacturies involved in the sampling programme or their names. So I couldn't check openeing times etc.

Generally the wineries appear to open for tasting (and therefore Cellar Door Sales) between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

Wednesday saw us go to the Voyager Winery a very grand place with magnificent Rose Gardens and at the opposite end of the scale Swallows' Retreat, seemingly miles from any where and run by Tim and Pat Negus.

Pat showed us round. She is a Botanical Illustrator while Tim produces the small amount of wine (compared to the big operations.

She showed us her studio and let us have a look around the 'Chapel' where more of her work is displayed.

The buildings are all of mud brick and the bricks were made by the couple, who aslo did the construction work.

If you google Pat's name there is some info on the net.

Sue, it is funny how the weather influences us.

Wednesday was overcast all day with intermittent drizzle. We felt a bit down driving around, but yesterday was quite sunny, although a bit cool, and we felt so much better.

Rain was forecastb ut did not arrive until we were on our way home

Linda I expect you are disappointed that the Bye Election has been cancelled......... but sad about the candidate.

Hi Allan, and Sue,

Allan the Voyager Winery sounds interesting, I think I would have enjoyed that visit.

They've just forecast snow in Scotland tomorrow. How odd!

Linda - that's sad for the candidate's family.

Allan - the Voyager Winery sounds good. Did you taste the wine? Looking around Pat Negus's studio would've been very interesting. I'll google her name later and have a look.

It is sad that the candidate has died Tec. He was the UKIP candidate though,so it won't affect the result. It will be delayed by three weeks

Time for bed here,so goodnight evryone

Allan

Allan Report 22 Apr 2010 22:56

Sue, because I'm on the Road all day doing the sampling, I am having to refrain from doing any tasting.

I'd be sozzled by lunch time, and I'm a bad enough driver sober, never mind drunk!
