Good Morning/Evening to you all wherever you are.

I hope the weather is set fair for the marches and ceremonies commemorating Anzac Day that will take place in Australia and NZ today.

My OHs family lost four men in the two World Wars - one of them left Wales to become a sheep farmer in Queensland as a young man. He enlisted with Australian Army in WW1, and sailed from Brisbane for Gallippoli. His records show that he was in poor health throughout. He eventually made it back to the UK, and after a spell in a military hospital here, he was sent to France, and was killed at the Somme in July 1918. His younger brother also died with British Forces in France some three months earlier.

It has been another lovely day here, and I carried on attacking my neighbours hedge - I am two thirds along now. Rain is forecast for tomorrow, but we actually need it as the ground is very dry. It hasn't rained for three weeks, and we had a very dry March - very unusual.

This evening I had the good fortune to see Linda, CC, and Diane on television. They were auditioning for the part of Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of the Wizard of Oz.

Good evening/morning all

~~~~~~~~~~~~ to the usual mob and to Uzzi, who I see is now also looking out for my well being!
Sue, thanks for the photos: as though we would be jealous, but I have now made my mind up to stay in Margaret River next week so that I don't have to speak to you!!!!
Unfortunately, that also means that I won't be able to speak to any one else, but hey, you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs
:0))
Tec, a fine day forecast here in Bunbury for the main service, but a bit chilly for the Dawn Service which takes place in 40 mins.
One day I will get down to Albany for the dawn service. Albany is the town where the dawn service originated.
I am just about tone deaf Tec, so I don't think that I will get the part.
I have spent the day removing things from my mothers house. I only have a small amount to do now. They have all booked the removal vans for next Friday, so I need you all to keep everything crossed so that it all goes ahead. The contracts should be exchanged on Monday or Tuesday,so I will be able to relax once that happens..
I too have several family members who died in WW1, such a dreadful waste of life.
Oh Allan, how will we cope without your cheery wit next week??
Perfectly well I suppose
Allan Report 24 Apr 2010 22:34
Lol, Linda, you said it for me!
Tecwyn Report 24 Apr 2010 22:42
Allan, Are you taking the wheelie bins with you to Margaret River? and more to the point, are you taking your OH to keep you on the straight and narrow.
Linda, I can really see you skipping up the Yellow Brick Road in your gingham dress.............
Tec
Allan
Allan Report 24 Apr 2010 22:47
Tec, there is no need for me to take wheelie bins with me to Margaret River, as I have already established contact with the native bins, which appear friendly, if somewhat tipsy.
My OH is staying at home. Someone has to look after the cats whilst I'm slogging away sampling the wine and all the fine produce of the area.
It's a tough job, but someone has to do it :0))
LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Apr 2010 22:54
It is a long time since I skipped anywhere Tec. I was wearing a top today which is reminiscent of gingham. I don't think I wore gingham dresses in my youth. My summer uniform at secondary school was a royal blue dress covered in white spots, very fetching - not
Allan, just think how much you will miss your OH next week. make sure you bring her flowers on your return, so you score some brownie points
Hello everyone - hope you are all well:-))
It's cold and miserable here and I'm sure it's going to rain at any moment. Like you Tec we have had very little rain over the last month so it will be welcome.
My great grandfather died in WW1 and amazingly he is mentioned in war diaries and a book called General Jack' Diaries. It is apparently unusual for a private to be mentioned but as he was the only one to die in that particular skirmish I guess it was important enough to write about. I know exactly how and where he died and the doctor who attended him and also the officers who retrieved his body. All died within a few months of great grandfather's death including the doctor:-((
As I mentioned in an earlier post my son is marching today in Hobart. We've only seen him march once and we almost burst with pride.
A tough job indeed Allan, my heart bleeds for you - but on the other hand, with no restraints you'll be foot loose and fancy free to explore the hot spots of Margaret River to see where all the action is.
LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Apr 2010 22:59
Typical, i am thinking how much Allan will miss his OH and of a romantic homecoming, while Tec is simply thinking of him being naughty away from home
Incidentally i know that Allan would never contemplate such a thing.
He is too afraid of Mrs Allan!
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 24 Apr 2010 23:03
Tec!!! I'm shocked at you for suggesting that Allan visit the hot spots and check out the action.
Linda - Allan isn't just scared of his lady. He knows we'll find out:-))
Allan
Allan Report 24 Apr 2010 23:08
Ah, Linda, if I bring home flowers for my OH , she will think that I have been naughty!
I should, however, be in my seventh Heaven as last Friday when I was down there I found an Indian Takeaway Cafe, so my meals at night will be taken care of, together with a few beers in the local Hostelry.
There's not really much mischief to be able to get up to (unless I look really hard) :0))
Sue I can understand your feeling of Pride in seeing your son march on ANZAC Day
LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Apr 2010 23:10
you have just gone down in my estimation Allan. OH often turns up with flowers for me. OK he buys them when they are reduced at the end of the day on the market, but at least he buys them.
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 24 Apr 2010 23:12
Hello Sue,
As usual the Sisterhood jump to the wrong conclusions - what suspicious minds they have.
I was not suggesting that Allan behaved like a cad while in Margaret River.
By "hot spots" I merely meant local beaches, attractions etc.
By "action" I of course meant the local soccer club, sporting events etc.
All good wholesome events that would entertain a fine upstanding, clean living young man like Allan.
What on earth did you think I meant?.........really ladies.
Tec.
Allan
Allan Report 24 Apr 2010 23:15
Sue! Leave Tec alone, he is my travel advisor
Linda, many years ago I was forever sending OH flowers, particularly if I was awat at an Army Reserve Camp whether it was a fortnight or just a weekend.
The novelty eventually wore off :0((
Allan
LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Apr 2010 23:15
We know exactly what you meant Tec!!!
Allan
Allan Report 24 Apr 2010 23:17
I will, however, be bringing home some venison and Margaret River Brie and Camembert.
OH loves the soft cheeses and neither of us has ever tried venison.
OH doesn't really drink so I can't tempt her with a selection of wines.
Tec I will look at the mouth of the river from which the Town derives its name, and a few of the local surfing spots.
I may even wax a board, Hawaii-Five-O style
I had venison last week when we went out for a meal Allan, it was very nice.
Sue, I have just been looking at some photos. I am indeed jealous, but you look nothing like I imagined
