Hello Ladies,

Couldn't find any BMD records on the moon anyway.

Hi Linda, The Duchess still unwell, but I did get her to eat some steamed haddock and brown bread and butter for dinner, so that's something. It is difficult to keep her carbohydrate levels up when she is unwell as she doesn't want food.

I did manage to dash off to the supermarket this afternoon as we were running low on some things. Amazingly, I just bought everyday things, not including meat as it's disgusting there, and managed to spend £98. I can remember when that was more than a weeks wages.
Oh well - we have to live.

Hi Sue, Enjoy your tea at the Courthouse - or will it be Bread & Water?:))

It was probably all the wine Tec.

I am glad that the duchess is a little better, you can come and cook for me if you want

It is like Redcar Linda although much bigger. I actually found a stick of Redcar rock in the pantry the other day. It looked a bit sticky:-))

It's worrying when you need to get some food into someone who doesn't feel up to eating, Tec. I do hope you're looking after yourself too.

I didn't buy any wine.

As you are the Kitchen Goddess I don't think my achievements in that department would be up to your standards.

That won't do your teeth much good Sue.

I am going to have an early night, I have to go to mum's house tomorrow morning to clear the last bit out and to meet the furniture van from the hospice shop who are taking away the surplus furniture. Plus make sure the roofer clears all the tar marks off the drive and patio once he finally finishes the dormer roof. Plus show the new owners how to use everything. Apart from that it should be a quiet morning.

We are still on course to complete the house sale on Friday

lol, I buy lots of wine Tec I may be your cook in waiting, but I still enjoy having a meal made for me.

I am signing off now, so I hope that the others arrive soon to keep you company

Goodnight Linda - sounds like you have a busy morning - so pleased for you that things are on course with the house.

I'm fine thanks Sue, plod on regardless, that's my motto :)))

Good night, Linda - fingers crossed that all goes as planned for Friday.

Tec - I have been to several seminars which address the issues of being a carer. It can be difficult but of course the words "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health" come to mind. I wouldn't hesitate to care for my OH if he became ill and I know he would do the same for me.

Sue,
After 48 years of marriage you wouldn't dream of not looking after each other in times of illness. My daughter lives 100 miles away, and has her own career, so we are dependant on each other. I'm just glad I'm still around, and able to do the looking after - the alternative is unthinkable.

SueMaid Report 27 Apr 2010 23:40

Exactly Tec - you wouldn't dream of it.

I must be off to don my gladrags for this very posh morning tea. Goodnight, Tec.

Goodnight,

Oh CC - thank you so much for raising money for little me. Just send the proceeds to me in an envelope:-))

The morning tea was delicious but of course one has to pay the price. Boring speeches. Also asking us - a fund raising organisation - to raise money for them. Most of which goes in advertising pamphlets, t-shirts and wages. We were given a goody bag which contained a coffee mug. I would rather see the money go to help a patient. I've got my grumpy hat on today.

Oh and by the way CC - you ARE nuts but that's what I love about you:-))

I do hope you can get back into some pattern of sleeping. I can't bear a sleepless night. Of course dozing off at 10pm isn't going to help. I hope the acupuncture helps - I know a couple of people who has been helped a great deal by the treatment.

Good Morning :-)

I haven't been sleeping all that well :-( Last night I had a dream.....I woke myself up, only to find that I was still asleep and still dreaming. Very scary I might add, especially as I had to try to wake myself up again knowing in the dream that I may have to try yet again. ...sorry about that lol. I just though I would share that piece of useless information with you all :-))

SueMaid Report 28 Apr 2010 07:03

Susanwithnumbers - thank you for sharing. Did you try to stuff a sock down someone's throat in your dream or rather cut off their fingers. Only joking:-)))

CC - I wasn't insulting you. Sorry if it sounded like that - here it's really an affectionate way of saying you are zany. I do appreciate that our senses of humour don't always translate the same. In regards to the fund raising it is something that sets our organisation apart from the one whose morning tea we attended. We are all volunteers and the only money used is for administration and that is a small amount. We don't really advertise and when we do it's usually donated anyway as in a banner that was made for us by a local company. The manager's sister works with the organisation so she arranged it:-))

Hi Everyone,
I'm just about to start work. It's a bit quiet in my room. I'm the only one in it today. The other 3 people are working out of the office.
CC I was interested to read that you drink boiled water. In the room next door to me 2 people drink boiled water instead of tea or coffee.
I hope everyone is ok. I've been busy reading and that's why I haven't been around. I'm looking forward to the bank holiday.
It's time for work now.

Hi C.C,
The books I've read are Sundowners by Lesley Lokko, Summer on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber and the book i'm reading at the moment is American Wife by Curtis Sittenfieild.
I like sparkling water. We have water at work but I prefer coffee!
I'll read anything except Sci fi.

Hi Pat, Good to see you here - I notice your favourite team did very well on Saturday. I have hundreds of books collected over many years - have read lots of them, but have many more to read. Unfortunately I never seem to find the time these days. My OH belongs to two Book Clubs, she gets through two a week. They are then sent to the local charity shops.

CC. Have you traced your family tree back to Noar's wife? Must have broken through a few brick walls to get there :))

I like Agatha Christie and I think i've read most of her books. I read Cranford a couple of months ago. The last time i read any Dickens was when I was at school.
The books I was telling you about I got them from the library and I picked them at random.
I'm just going to make myselfa cup of coffee now.
I like flavoured water.

PatriciaAnn Report 28 Apr 2010 22:06

Hi Tec,
Yes Leeds did well but I hope they get automatic promotion because they aren't good in the play offs.
Book clubs are good because it encourages you to read books which you wouldn't read yourself and I've got some good bargains.
