Good luck to Leeds in the promotion Pat. The last book I read was "Nab End and Beyond" by William Woodruff - a good read. I don't read fiction.

The Duchess was a little better today CC thank you, so hopefully that will continue......then I can put my nurses outfit away again.

Awww.....I've missed Pat:-(

Hello CC and Tec. I slept in this morning:-))

I read just about anything that catches my fancy but not sci-fi. Not too fussed on Mill and Boon romances although once when I was quite ill I found they were easy to read and I went through loads of them. Our daughter's partner is manager/owner of a book store and he often brings home a bag full of unedited books that are sent around the bookstores before they actually go on the market. As he can't sell them it's left to us to pick out the ones we want. My daughter doesn't have the same taste as me so there are no fights:-)) We're all big readers although OH generally only reads non-fiction.

Tec - I hope your Duchess is feeling much better today.

Good Morning Sue,
Hope you are well - OH is a little better today, way to go yet I think, but things are looking up I think.
I noticeBerona is not around, I do hope she is ok, I think she was seeing her doctor yesterday - Tuesday - maybe she will emerge later your time.

CC. My nurses outfit has trousers, so the short skirt is not an issue thank goodness - it's that silly little hat that drives me mad.

At the moment I'm reading Reginald Hill - Dalziel and Pascoe. I like the show although it's a bit glum but I've never read the books. I like reading British crime - Ruth Rendall, Val McDiarmid (Wire in the Blood) and of course Agatha Christie for some vintage crime.

I'm concerned about Berona too - hopefully she is getting some much needed rest. I miss Allan. Isn't it quiet without his witty posts. And where is Linda?

Tecwyn Report 28 Apr 2010 23:39

It is quiet without Allan's sharp wit on here. I think Linda had a busy day clearing things at her mother's house, so I expect she is rather tired.

I am hoping to get away for an hour tomorrow to go to a local auction - they have a dragon I want, and a picture of a Tall Ship. Maybe I will be lucky.

CC. The Duchess is well used to me coming home with things she doesn't want lol.
Goodnight, I hope you have a better night tonight - sleep well.

Well I must also be away to my bed.
Enjoy your day Sue, hope the sun shines for you.

~~~~~~~~~~~to Diane who is no doubt taking liberties because Berona's not around lol.
Goodnight,
Tec.
Good night, CC - sorry we didn't get much "talking" time. Now you are on Daylight Saving and we're not it means that if I'm not on early and you lot aren't on late we don't get to chat for long.
Tec - I really hope you do well at the auction. The picture of the tall ship sounds wonderful. I have sea-faring blood in my veins through my mother's ancestors most descending from good sea-faring stock from Devon. One was on the E11 submarine which made a big impact in the Dardenelles during WW1. I have some photos and a load of information about this.
Goodnight and good luck at the auction.
Diane - go to bed:-))
Berona Report 29 Apr 2010 00:14
Good morning/evening friends.
Nice of you to be concerned about me - but I'm OK - really.
The doc gave me tablets which have allowed me to sleep, so I am sleeping quite heavily and don't wake up early. Still no improvement during the daytime, with lots of itching and nerves which seem to 'bite' now and again, but the rash seems smaller and drier (although this is what causes the itching - it feels the same as when you peel after being sunburnt.
Nice to see Patricia posting but I suppose she has gone by now. I was going to suggest to her and CC and anyone else who likes to read - that they have a look at joining the Greaders on General Topics. We each nominate two books, then vote for two (not the ones we nominate though) and then about 6 weeks later, we all write a review on them.
I am already in a book club as far as purchasing books goes, but I usually need to buy the two books voted on, as they are not necessarily to my taste - but it makes a break for me to read something different - and I usually enjoy it.
Hi Everyone
Have not been online as internet went down a couple of weeks ago and for those that have sent emails, I have had to change my email address also.
I hope that all is well with everyone and will be online to chat a bit later as i have a lot of homework to catch up on and an exam on Monday that i need to prepare for.
TTFN keep smiling :))
CC. Your ears have my sympathy after being inflicted with heavy metal music all that time. I would prefer to relax with something like "Enya".
I suppose if you've emptied that magnum of red, then we won't hear from you again until about August - but at least you will catch up on some sleep.
It rained here for most of the day, but at least the garden had a good soaking, which it needed. Now they forecast a cold spell, with even snow on the mountain tops over the weekend - not that I envisage being on any mountain tops.
Janet - Good to see you here, was wondering where you were. Good luck with the exam, I'm sure you'll come through with flying colours.
Morning/evening
Just been catching up, nice to see you Janet - homework - that's the only thing putting me off going back to uni - I am too much of a do other things person and the homework would gnaw at me.
Glad to hear you OH is on the mend Tec - do tell what is this dragon you have your eye one,,,,, sorry I had visions of George and the Dragon (not the comedy otherwise you would be comimg home with Peggy Mount)
I suppose CC is snoring away somewhere after her magnum of red, I couldn't slosh that much away - my words on the page would go all fuzzy and my sentences would make even less sense than they do now.
Never seem to talk to Pat - her visits are short but sweet and as she does not read back pages never knows that I have spoken of her.
Hope you are feeling a lot better Berona - is everything calmed down itchwise? The Greaders club gets me reading books I would not normally read - well it certainly has this month - and most of you are reading my recommendation.
Diane too early for bed for you yet so you can have a wave ~~~~~~~~~~ as I am sure you will be reading.
Persey (off to make coffee but will be back shortly - I would make a large potful for CC but she does not drink the stuff)
Hi Everyone,
i went out tonight to see a performance of Resurrection Rocks performed by some school children at the church i go. It was quite good and there were some songs from Jesus Christ Superstar.
C.C I'm impressed with your knowledge of rock music.
i don't listen to that much music but I like 70's stuff and the beatles etc. I also listen to Irish traditional music.
PatriciaAnn
PatriciaAnn Report 29 Apr 2010 21:48
Perse,
I'm sorry! perhaps I should start to reread the pages! I hang my head in shame.!
I hope you are ok x
Persephone
Persephone Report 29 Apr 2010 21:57
Oh so that is you CC I thought it must have been your ghost writer that posted before me.
I like my brandy with ginger ale (it's the only time I drink Ginger ale)
I know very little about Rock Music - but I always knew what sold in the bookshop - my youngest was at home then and she used to get all sorts of magazines and when Guns and Roses were the ones here I would take out the middle page of them or Axl Rose and put the pic in my shop window and would sell it the same day - now that's my version of being entrepreneurial. (try typing that word when you are drunk)
Good to see you Pat - haven't read any of what you are reading - I read similar books to our Sue with a few non-fiction thrown in... and never fantasy or sci-fi. Quite funny really because I would pick out books for fantasy readers to read - I would remember what they had read before and then I would watch what another customer who had similar tastes bought and bingo I had a sale - would introduce them to a new author and that way they would be back for more.
Brandy and ginger ale. that sounds nice!
I've got a load of books from which flims have been made. There's a pile of them at work. Books like Breakfast at Tiffiny's. Clockwork Orange etc. 10 books for £10 so it was a bargain.
It rained in Exeter today and i had to use my brolley. First time for ages.
Hi Perse, Good to see you. The dragon was a rather nice concrete garden ornament, and a rather good specimen of a dragon too.Of course it was a Welsh Dragon, as depicted on our national flag. Unfortunately I didn't get it, or the picture of the tall ship. My OH is better, everything being relative, but I didn't like the look of her this morning (don't tell her I said that) and although she said she was ok, I didn't want to risk leaving her for a couple of hours, and would only have been on pins if I'd gone. Anyway, I said I had changed my mind, so she didn't feel bad about me not going.
I will survive without a concrete dragon.
Hi Pat, Hope you're well, and glad you enjoyed the performance.
CC. I am also impressed with your knowledge of music, we must call you the "Rocking Granny" I'm a huge fan of Queen.
Some people had to be handed books - one chap would come in wander around and out again but if I handed him various books he would buy seven or eight no problem.
I told this to the person who bought my shop - and I worked with him for four days - it is what one has to do - he did two days and that was my takings and then I did two days and they were his takings and as luck would have it I did really well for him, however, less than two years later he folded up had a closing down sale and would have lost a lot of money.
Ex-customers that I encountered later told me that he just sat there and waited for people to buy - he was no help with choosing or anything. I had built up a big clientel which included replacement paperbacks for one of our top notch Boys' High schools.
Patricia - I have read Clockwork Orange and Breakfast at Tiffanys. I always had a copy of Clockwork Orange on the shelf in the shop. And what a fantastic movie that was.
Persey (I'm singing in the rain) actually it is sunny.
