HI everyone

When I first open up genes the last message is one of Ali's I like to see this reminder of a lovely lady.

Carol....arghhhhhhhh footy season we had the meeting of who was going to help out with what for the season....So a friend popped my name down for the canteen??? I hope they don't ask me to cook ! Anyway the first day of duty is Mothers day, maybe we close up shop for that time hehe. Busy tho with three nights training and two games on the weekend but I love it its all good!!

Find out my results on Monday for first of exams. I am now gearing myself up for power point presentation that I have to do.

Better get started on dinner so if I don't get back on here tonight have a great night all and a great rest of the day others!!

Keep smiling :)))))

I am sure that they are very tasteful Carole, but I think that I will pass on your kind offer if you don't mind. We do have the hose initials on our bin (we have a name not a house number). We share a common entrance with the neighbours and the bins kept getting mixed up. OH keeps ours clean, but the neighbours don't bother,so OH put the stickers on both to sort them out.

I am glad that your children enjoyed the meal, it is nice to be appreciated. I am off to get my hair cut again, it grows so quickly that I can't keep up with it. Mum's hair was the same, she had a really full head of her for an old lady of 87 and she had to have it cut every month to keep it looking decent,so it looks like I inherited those genes.

Ahh Linda, I knew that I would finally convert you to the wheelie side of life :O))

Carole, you will have to post your recipe for Lasagna for us! I've made it in the past but am always searching for those little variations that families have.

Janet, keeping everything crosse for your exam results. From all the hard work that you have put in you deserve to pass them with flying colours!!

It's a Yorkshire thing Allan - Being a Lancashire lad you should understand there are strange customs on that side of the Pennines :))

Good Afternoon Linda - Lovely Lady :))

Carole - I would also appreciate the recipe of your world beating lasagne - mine is ok, but rather boring.

Good Luck Janet with the results, I'm sure all the hard work will have been worth it, and don't let them work you too hard in that canteen..

Goodnight Allan,
sleep well,

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 May 2010 16:50

Hmm, if Tec is calling me a lovely lady, that probably means he wants a favour - which will of course be granted.

Allan, obviously I meant to type house, but my brain and fingers are not very coordinated these days.

Well i have been to have my hair cut,so can see out of my fringe once more. As my hairdressers is in a large town nearby, obviously I needed to go shopping. So one top and cardigan have made their way into my already overcrowded wardrobe.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 5 May 2010 19:34

No - I'm not after any favours Linda - well except that I might smile sweetly and ask you to look up my Gt.Grandads burial details :)) but it's a Welsh one, and I'm reluctant to traumatise you.
I'm sure the hair cut will turn heads - but given that you are off to warmer climes I can't understand why you were out buying a cardie, when you should be buying the latest design in bikinis - but not a yellow polka dot one.

I had the most frustrating afternoon - tried to buy something online from Argos. After three attemps the site wouldn't accept my card details. So I phoned them, (the usual rigmarole of press this ,press that) to be told it wasn't their fault, but my bank must have blocked the card. I couldn't understand that so phoned my bank (more press this press that)
The bank assured me their was nothing wrong with my card, they asked who had rejected my card, and after investigation discovered no application from Argos had been received.
Back on the phone to Argos, who wouldn't accept they were at fault.
The item I wanted had a 15% discount if ordered online, but not if ordered by phone. This amounted to £36, so I was determined to get it.
Anyway, I got bloody minded, and dug my heels in. After being bounced around from this one to that one, and being told no supervisor was available to speak to, they eventually gave in, and I got what I wanted including the promotional discount.
This only took an hour, and I probably spent the £36 in telephone calls.
How hard can it be to buy something these days?

Tec....Now lying in a darkened room with a large gin.

I have been very pleased with the new burial discs Tec, I have found lots of extra burials for my families. Yorkshire seems to have the biggest increase in coverage, which is where lots of mine come from.

Send me the details and I will do any look ups you want.

If I were to wear a bikini on the beach,I would clear it, sadly my sylph like days are long gone.

I spent a head banging amount of time in the bank yesterday trying to move money about. They seemed reluctant to do their jobs because it meant them having to fill forms in and it was just too much effort for them. All the regulations to do with money laundering turn the simplest transaction into a marathon. Do I look like a drug trafficker? No need to answer that Allan, it was a rhetorical question.

"It would be a good job if it were'nt for the customers"

It seems to me that institutions like banks, councils, places of officialdom, etc, go out of their way to be as obstructive, and unco-operative as they can possibly be.
They are content to shuffle papers around from nine 'till five, but heaven help anyone who dares disturb them.

Thanks for your offer of help with burial records Linda, I will pm the details.

Tec.

I actually have the disc on the go at the moment Tec. Some of the churches I need have extra years burials added since the last version,so I am happily adding them to my tree. it is helpful being able to search for one surname in one church. the results turn up extra children who I didn't know about because they never appeared on a census. Annoyingly i keep coming across unknown adults as well, some of my surnames are fairly uncommon (unlike Welsh Williams) so they usually belong to me.

Tecwyn Report 5 May 2010 21:43

I've sent you a pm Linda, but will look for more info.

It's brilliant that you're finding such good info on your family from the discs.

Hello everyone - I do hope you are all well:-))

Linda - what information do you get from the Burials index? I know when 2 of my great grandparents died but not where they are buried - nor any of the family for that matter except my paternal grandparents.

Sue xx

LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 May 2010 22:14

I am not amazing Tec, I merely bung the discs in.

Sue, the burial index discs have 18 million burials on them, which is just a drop in the ocean. i have just upgraded to the third version which have lots more than version 2 which I previously had.

Some counties have very little coverage, but others, especially West Yorkshire are very well covered. They tend to be earlier burials rather than later, but some of them are newer. the one which has pleased Tec tonight was in the 1920's. i can search for one person, or just put in a surname and a church, or group of churches and find everyone of that name

If anyone wants any look ups, just ask

SueMaid

Thank you Linda - I've sent you a pm:-)) How exciting for you Tec to get this information.
