Good evening Linda and Good morning Sue

Yes, Linda I have. A very nice morning for it, at least when I started!

On the return I wasn't sure whether it was smoke or low cloud drifting over (it doesn't get light until about 7.00am)

I'm still not sure. No rain is forecast for today bur prescribed burns are being carried out in some of the State Forests in this area.

So Happy Mother's Day Sue,

Good Morning Allan,
We are depending on you to elevate the level of conversation on this thread.......

Very funny, Linda - I'm much too young to be Allan's mother. In fact I'm too young to be Allan's sister:-)))

My Walkers did stay in Bramley - at least my grandmother married from a house in Bramley in 1915. I think great grandfather was still alive then as he wasn't recorded as "deceased". My 2 x great grandmother was born in Bristol and I have thought they could've been visiting Bristol rellies. I doubt they were overseas. Thanks for trying Linda - sometimes fresh eyes can help.

Tec, you're actually depending on a person who talks to wheelie bins to elevate the level of conversation????

You musn't have high expectations lol

Tecwyn Report 8 May 2010 23:18

Allan,
Talking to Wheelie Bins could be an indication of eccentricity - in my experience, many so called eccentrics are highly inteligent people.
Therefore, you should be able to raise the level of any conversation.

Tec.

Gee!!

I must have elevated the level of conversation to such a height that no one can keep up with me! :0))

Tec, thank heaven you posted :0))

I was nearly going to go into the old 'is there anyone there routine!'

I thought that you were used to talking to yourself Allan. You don't really believe that the bins answer you do you?

Allan

Allan Report 8 May 2010 23:23

Tec, talking to wheelie bins could be considered eccentric: it could also be considered stupid.

I'll not seek the sisterhood's opinion on the above :0))

Allan

Allan

Linda, the bins really do answer me.

We communicate telepathically, or even, sometimes, very pathetically :0))

We're all nodding off Allan - manure, worms and wheelie bins.

I really must get going. I have to race around like an idiot this morning so I can relax with the family:-))

Enjoy your evening/day. Hope you have a lovely day Berona, Mrs Allan, Carole, Janet and Persey (not sure if it's Mother's Day in NZ). Hope today isn't too hard for Ali's boys.

Allan,

I once had the misfortune to have to sit through a lecture given by Proffessor somebody or other, on the infrastructure of the North West of England.
This went on for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Nobody had a clue what he was on about - it was way above our heads - and one of the most painful experiences I've ever had.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 8 May 2010 23:31

Why was it painful Tec? Were the chairs too hard?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 8 May 2010 23:35

Yes Linda the chairs were very hard - the lecture very boring - I didn't give a monkey's nuts about the roads and bridges of the North West. Almost lost the will to live by the end........Grrrrrrr

Tec, I've been to conferences where some of the speakers have been like that, but at least I've been able to escape to the bar.

Interestingly I have found that speakers fall into two types those who can make the subject matter interesting, and those who can't.

Both types obviously know their stuff, but it all lies in the difference with presentation.

Poor thread, unvisited since last night and down on page two.

It is a lovely sunny day here, but a bit windy. We are going to visit a local garden which is open to the public today under the NGS garden scheme. This one is a woodland garden with lots of Rhododendrons which I love, but my hay fever doesn't. As long as they are serving coffee and cakes, that will do for me.
