What a glorious afternoon it has been here. It is really sunny, but a bit nippy out of the sun. We went to the Open Garden, which was one of the St John's Ambulance ones not the NGS as I said before. It was very enjoyable wandering round the castle gardens. They call it Upsall Castle, but it is a very big house really, think Jeeves and Wooster and you are on the right lines.
They always sell plants to make extra money and I bought a tree peony to put in a gap OH created last week. Unlike the small Peonies which have large blooms and disappear under the ground at the end of the season, this one grows woody stems and can grow to six or seven feet. Let grow it also grows about five feet across. It has small dark red flowers which have a lovely scent, whereas the normal peonies have no smell. I saw some growing in the garden there and had a nice chat with the gardener about them. He came from New Zealand, just an aside for Perse there. Anyway it is now planted out in my garden,so I will have to wait and see how it goes

CC i am getting to the stage of thinking about seeing the quack about my foot, but I suppose that she will just send me for an xray to check it out. If I wasn't going on holiday next Sunday, I would go, but I don't want a nice moon boot as Perse had to spoil my fun,so I will wait until I get back. Anyway, It can't be that bad or I wouldn't be able to walk on it, although i must admit that I am aware of it aching all the time.

Struth, what have I started here? Sue, stop Cc from nagging me, after all it is your thread.

I would love to see your garden CC, although, that obviously means that it is immaculate unlike mine - sigh

Good evening Linda and CC.

How are you both?

Yesterday was a bit cold and miserable, and what I saw drifting in very early in the morning turned out to be cloud!

We had a bit of rain and some wind. Fortunately we had a roast planned for lunch, but I felt sorry for any family that had planned to go to the foreshore for a Mother's Day barbie.

Good morning Allan, i have had a nice day thank you, it has been a lovely day although it is cold again tonight. They are due to have some wintery, snowy showers in Scotland over the next couple of days which is bad news. We have lots of plants in the greenhouse which we will have to plant out on the allotment this week before we go away and i don't want them damaged by frost

Hi Linda - just tell CC you've been to the doctor's and she'll stop nagging you:-)) I've seen pictures of CC's garden and I have to warn you that it's beautiful.

I had a lovely day yesterday. The weather was glorious so I took mum to the garden centre - her favourite place:-)) She bought some plants and then we had morning tea in the little coffee shop. She also bought me a plant and when we got back to her house mum gave me two very large old terracotta pots. I have a lemon tree that needs repotting so one of the pots will be perfect. In the afternoon my daughter, her partner and the children came over for afternoon tea and stayed for dinner - which I didn't cook. I was surprised and touched when my daughter's partner gave me a card thanking me for making him feel part of the family and supporting him in his efforts with the children. He has found it difficult at times coping with a ready made family but has done really well and the children love him.

I am glad that you had a nice day yesterday Sue.
It must be difficult being a step father, but it is nice that your daughter and the children are happy again

Sorry Allan - didn't see you there. I hope Mrs Allan had a lovely day yesterday.

Good morning Sue

Now that we are the proud possessors of Aussie Passports we have been checking out some cruises. We are trying to look for those that start and finish in Fremantle, but committments for this year and the early part of next means that it wll be after May next year before we can go. So it still looks likes a trip to Sydney and Canberra later this year.

I am not hiding Sue, i am brave, mainly because I am on the other side of the world

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 9 May 2010 22:35

We can all be brave 12,000 miles away:-)) A bit like my little dog who barks ferociously at the big german shepherd across the road knowing full well he can't get to her.

Linda, I want to stay more in the centre of Sydney. I'd find travelling a couple of hours each way just to see some one-off tourist things a bit much: besides I doubt the we'd be able to borrow Sue's car :0))

We may as well stay at home and travel to Perth for a couple of days: the effect would be the same!

Well there you go Allan!! Linda's right - you don't want to stay with us. Mmmm.....I'll remember that when the hotel can't find your booking and there's nowhere to stay.

Hello Merry Men, and Jolly Ladies,

I have just spent hours and hours typing out info from OHs tree to print off and send to an old lady who is not on the internet.
I am now cross eyed, blistered fingers, and thinking there must be an easier way to occupy my mind........

Life reading War and Peace until I can recite it..

SueMaid Report 9 May 2010 22:56

Hello Tec - you are such a nice man that I'm sure you didn't really mind typing out 2,000 pages of information:-))

Allan - historically there was no room at the inn.

Linda - you're a troublemaker. Now about that foot........

Tec, for goodness sake, if you had your tree on Legacy, a couple of clicks would print out all that stuff you have just typed up
