Goodnight Linda,
sleep well - keep warm.

CC. Your children may come to be interested in family history as they get older. When we are young it is not usually something we give much thought to, mainly because we don't have time.
My daughter is in her 40s and is showing an interest - provided I do all the work of course lol.

Tec.

I must be off now to start my day - although that will entail spending some time working on the computer. I'm running a course for new volunteers early next month so that means lots of emails and paper work. I do enjoy it.

Thanks for such a fun chat - isn't it great that we can discuss all manner of things. Good evening/good morning all.

~~~~~~~~~to Diane and Berona.
CC I missed most of the episodes of Rivers, but those I did see were most interesting.
I know what you mean about souvenirs. I have three sketch books which I think belonged to my Grandfather. Some of the sketches were done in the 1840's, and some before then.
One has a design of the Royal Mail Coach cypher for King William (Just prior to Queen Victoria) My greatgrandfather was described as a coach trimmer so I'm assuming that htese sketch pads have been in the family for years.
My own grandfather was described on various certificates as 'Artist'
"Decorative Artist" and finally on his deathe Cert a "Decorative Artist theatre and cinema" .
I'm assuming that he was a set designer.
Hi Susanwith numbers,
How are you? been doing anything mind bendingly exciting?
CC. I have always been very interested in my mothers family, having heard such tales. They intrigued me, and I wish I had done my research before she died, because I'm sure she didn't know half of it.
The more I discover, the more interesting they become,and of course, the more mysteries arise.
Well, I must away to my bed, it is so late.
Enjoy your day Allan - and I don't mean enjoy your day out.
Hope you sleep tonight CC,
Goodnight,
Tec.
CC the sketchbooks are fascinating.
The main one was, I think used by someone with a military connection, as the sketches are based over a period of years but move from Ireland to scotland and finally to Canada.
The canadian sketches (there are only 6) are of the Toronto area. One in particular of Fort Henry was of particular interest yo the curator of the fort as it showed a feature that he suspected had been there but no proof was in existence
One of the sketches showed this clearly.
With JaneyCanucks help, I was able to send acopy of the sketch to Fort henry.
Hi all. I'm late again and missed most of you, as usual.
I've been sleeping approx. 10 hours per night lately and by the time I get here, everyone has gone!
I'll look in again later in the day. Meanwhile, you have a good night/day wherever you are.
Still quite sore and still wondering when it will all end? The monotony of waking up to find I'm still as sore as ever doesn't do my temperament much good!
However, I had all my family here yesterday, so that did me a lot of good, even though all I could do was sit and talk to them - while they made lunch and did everything else - as they usually do anyway!
Allan
Allan Report 10 May 2010 01:00
And why shouldn't they Berona?
Think of all you have done for them over the years, but also remember that yesterday was a special day in any event :0))
CC we'll see how go go with the sketches
I do have a free compression program IZarc but have never used it!
It looks like a day for experimenting :0))
Yes, they are good to me - and brought pressies too! Just to see them all here was a tonic - I really don't need the presents too. As usual, the big stores and manufacturers have made a mockery out of Mothers' Day.
Allan
Allan Report 10 May 2010 01:15
Well I must away and try to sort some images out for CC
Take care Berona, and try to enjoy the day :0))
Just popping in to say hello before settling down to watch last night's episodes of Dr Who and Foyle's War. Have already watched Saturday Night's Robin Hood. Very intense, not the same without Marian, but they seem to have a new female interest. Maybe for Much or Alan a Dale. She's too young for Robin Hood.
