Good Evening Linda,

Well done for sorting yourself out - you get a gold star for that.
Are you a happier bunny now that your holiday is sorted too - are you going to the same place?

Tec.

We are going to the same place. We really like this hotel,so have been there in May for the last few years. I am indeed a happier bunny.

I wonder if I should get a wall chart for my stars? Probably not,as I am not likely to get many

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 May 2010 22:16

Oh well - alls well that ends well, but a shame you had to be subjected to all that hassle. Plus - on the day you would have originally been returning, you will still be there........whoopee!

Also, you now have time to tend the allotment now that warmer weather is due. I pulled up a "weed" today, and there was a carrot on the end of it. How very odd.

You should get a wall chart, you never know, you could be showered in Gold Stars.

Berona, are you another Aussie? Gee, if we're not careful we might outnumber the Poms here. lol. Where are you at? I'm in FNQ as you may have already read.

Cheers,
Pam.

Good evening CC, Linda and Tec

i have now found the on/off switch for the computer! :0))

CC, you are being modest. You sent me those hints on how to change the format of my pictures and resize them. I have saved them but haven't had chance to put them to use as I have been rather busy with other things.

I may even try to scan all the sketches that are in the books.

Good morning, Berona, if you are looking in. I hope that your sleep patterns indicate a return to full health

Good morning, Pam.

You snuck in whilst I was typing the above post :0))

Hello everyone - hope you are all well:-))

All this computer talk! I only know enough to do what I want to do. When we were in Hobart I was amazed at this gizmo thingy my son had. He has all his movies, photos and music on one piece of equipment which is then converted through this other gizmo and he just selects what he wants from a menu and he can play it through his television. All his DVD's and CD's are packed away and although he has back-up for his photos he doesn't have albums all over the place. Of course OH loves it - I could see the gleam in his eye:-))

Hello Pam,Berona is somewhere near Sydney. Normally she would be posting lots, but unfortunately she has been ill with shingles, so hasn't been able to post. We all miss her very much and can't wait to have her back.

Tec,may I have another gold star for being so nice to Berona?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 May 2010 22:31

Hello Allan and Sue.
I know someone with one of those gizmo things as well Sue ,don't let your OH have one, or he will want to be on the computer all the time

Pamela

Pamela Report 18 May 2010 22:32

Yes, Linda. We are fortunate in that regard (water, that is) but the flip side is that during the wet season with all the creeks and smaller rivers running into the mighty Barron, it can encroach as far as the hill that our house is on. Good thing is that it's only come into the house 4 times in a little under 40 years.

Janet, Where do you live? Being new here I'm still finding out where people are from.

Sue, am enjoying this site no end.

I do have a question though. What is a gedcom? I've only ever seen the name and, being relatively new to tracing rellies etc. haven't needed to find out before now.

Berona, would you let me know where you are located, too, please.

Allan

Allan Report 18 May 2010 22:38

Good morning Sue

All this talk of Gizmos! Strangely enough Ian Fleming's "Thunderball" was shown on TV last weekend and OH watched it.

She was fascinated with all the 'old' technology. Not a mobile to be seen, manual typewriters etc.

Yet when the film came out in the '60's, that was all state of the art.

Oh! And no computer generated graphics

Ahh, Allan, I get it. You are going to give a lecture on the special language of the wheelie bins !!!!!

LOL

Pam - I'm glad you're enjoying this site. Berona is near Parramatta.

Linda - that's what I'm worried about. OH would have a ball putting all his stuff on this gizmo.

Allan - I love the special effects in films and tv shows but I must admit that some of the old thrillers were more scary than the newer shows because of that air of menace that the old black and whites had.

As anyone seen Avatar? I thought it was horrible but that's just me. Obviously it was enjoyed by a lot of people. Those blue people were scary although some of the "forest" scenes were very good.

Allan Report 18 May 2010 22:50

Lol Pam

Sue, OH and myself seldom go to the pictures these days (am I dating myself with that word?)

It's so expensive and most films are out on DVD very shortly after their cinema release: to answer your question, no I haven't seen Avatar :0))

Allan

ps, I can see enough coloured creatures after a few glasses of wine!

Pam a gedcom is a file which lets you transfer information from one type of family tree software to another one. If for instance, you are building your family tree at home on your computer using Legacy or Family tree maker or some other program, you can export a gedcom file and then import it into the GR system, or Ancestry or any other family tree program

It means you can move your tree from one place to another without having to type it all in again

Good Morning to Sue, Pam, Allan,, and to Berona if you look in later,

Hope everyone is well today,

Pam , Allan is the worlds leading authority on Wheelie Bins. If you ask your local Wheelie Bins, they will know of him. Even the Welsh ones have heard of him.
I don't think the Poms will ever outnumber the Aussies on here. We are only here by Sue's invitation.
The Poms that regularly post on this thread are -
Linda, in Yorkshire,
CC. Somewhere in the Lea Valley - Southern England.
Diane in Liverpool who is having a break, but does follow the thread,
and me in Wales.

It's strange, but as far as I remember, we've never had anyone from South Australia (Adelaide)

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 18 May 2010 23:10

Tec, don't forget Pat, from the South Coast :0))

SueMaid Report 18 May 2010 23:12

I don't remember anyone from Adelaide either, Tec.

We have Queensland, NSW, WA and Victoria represented. And of course we have our lovely Kiwi who hasn't been around lately.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 May 2010 23:16

Yes, of course Pat as well.

Can we have someone from Ayers Rock please.
Is there still Northern Territories?

Tec.

Allan

If it helps, my paternal grandmother was named Adelaide :0))
