Linda I share your OHs affliction in that I can't sit still for long, and find it impossible to just sit in the garden with jobs needing to be done. However, I think an hours bike ride in todays heat is bordering on the reckless, even masochistic. I would suggest that you fasten him securely to the line post and explain that it's for his own good - to be released at sunset. Or puncture his bike tyres, and run.
The leak and potatoe soup sounds good - Welsh leaks of course.

CC. I am a cool dude really, just can't take the heat anymore.

Well Yorkshire leeks Tec,He was very hot by the time he got back, but he was fine. We are due for another hot day tomorrow I see

Tecwyn Report 22 May 2010 22:49

Leaks? or leeks? You tell the heats got to me - shame really.

Tomorrow I shall take my laptop into the garden, sit in the shade, and work on my tree.

That sounds a good idea Tec, better than working in the garden. It is so hot here now, but I have closed the French doors because lots of little creatures were flying in. We need those fly screens our Aussie friends have

Good evening all, as there seems to be only Poms on at the moment.

We had a good drop of rain yesterday with more forecast.

Linda you mentioned planting salad crops in an old tin bath. This year we have planted potatoes in the rigid pond liner that sprang a leak recently. Once the potatoes have started to sprout we will be planting peas in the same liner. They can then use the potato haulms for support...a trick my MIL taught us.

Temp never rose above 19c yesterday.

CC the trip went well but I still detest travelling to Perth, although the trip, for a change, was very good. No traffic to speak of, but bl**dy expensive to park!!

Those fly screens are a good idea. I made one for the conservatory door out of the fine green garden mesh, but it wasn't very successful really.
We get inundated with flies when they're stirring the sheep up. We've got one of those insect traps, with the bright blue light, but it's hopeless.

Good Morning Allan,

I found the galvanised baths in a garden cum clearance centre. I bought three of them because they are a good size for planting in, but they look fine on the patio. How our ancestors managed to squash up in them I have no idea. The last time I saw any was in Beamish museum, They have them hanging on the walls of the back yards in the reconstructed terrace houses

For one moment Allan, i thought that you meant Tec was wallpapering

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 May 2010 23:22

Allan, I've nearly got the hang of C&P - can get it onto a word doc', but yet to copy onto this board.........

Linda, I used one of those baths until I was 12 yrs old. Friday night it was dragged into the kitchen, mum filled it with water - the youngest went in first, being the eldest of five, I went in last. What it was like by the time I got in, apart from being cold, I don't like to think about LOL.

No, Linda, although Tec may have been. We are both on a learning curve with our computers.

CC has ben extremely helpful in that regard

I think that the ones I have Tec are a bit smaller than the adult sized ones, but they are very useful for the salad crops.

I will leave you to chaps together as it is time for bed. You don't need to tell me to keep warm tonight though

Goodnight Linda,
If you sleep with the windows open, keep your mouth closed, sleep well.

Good evening/good night Linda.
Good evening/morning everyone else.
Have you been having bad weather Allan? It's been lovely here - an occasional light shower overnight, nippy in the morning and evening - then sunny all day with temps of 20-23.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 May 2010 23:44

Good Morning Berona,

How are things? improving I hope.
It has been very hot here today, 26/27 C. I couldn't stay in it long.
Very strange how once I could tolerate much higher temps than that in various parts of the world, and barely notice, but not now.

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 22 May 2010 23:46

Good morning Berona.

Yes, storms yesterday with a high of 19c. More rain forecast for the week.

It was cold enough for us to light the fire yesterday.

The rain is very welcome

I no longer have the blistery rash, but pink marks where it was, however the skin is still extremely sore and the vein still 'pings' like a little explosion. That's when it is painful, but not quite as often as it was doing it before. I am now into the seventh week and still waiting for it all to go away.
I have read that it sometimes continues for months/years - but if that happens to me - I'll be well established at the funny farm by then!
Doc has settled on three and a half with the warfarin and has allowed me to go two whole weeks without a blood test. Wooohooo! I can wake up in the morning without asking myself "who do I have to see to-day and what test do I have?". If it's caused by stress - that's where the stress comes in.
