Unfortunately Tec not all neighbourhoods act as a community. The common theme in some areas is to "mind you own business". We have a young couple next door to us with a young baby. They have very little family support so we have been able to help at times while respecting their privacy.

Good night Tec. I must be off too as the phone calls have started. Have a good day Berona and Allan. Good night to Dianne:-))

Allan, I have never been to Lincoln or York, but I have a sister who lives in Doncaster, she visits those cities regularly.
I love to visit Cathedrals, and churches, not religious, but the architecture interests me a great deal.

Must go now,
Goodnight,
Tec.

Hello all,

Suemaid, what’s the secret? I would be in heaven and would gladly pay to get a skip to have all the junk around here taken away. I, too, have a hoarder and there’s so much stuff it would take a month of Sundays to get rid of it. Do these skips cost much? Do you hire them by the month, week or what?

Sorry to lose you even if it’s only for a short time CC. What did we do before computers? Housework, talk on the phone, go shopping. That’s if my memory is what it should be. But it was nowhere near as much fun.

Tecwyn, I know precisely what you mean. My ex was one of those plastic people. Wanted to sell our townhouse and buy one of the ‘wedding cake’ houses (which was what I called the square shaped reo-ed houses) up on the Gold Coast. He also wanted a candy apple red Porsche. Obviously he’d never driven nor diriven in one. Most uncomfortable blooming things. Me, I just wanted a modest little place that would be homey and comfortable. Something that if a cushion was out of place wouldn’t look like a bomb had hit it. Had to be, for me who believes housework makes you ugly (another fridge magnet).

Hi, Pam. I hope I haven't missed you. We have a big skip (6 cubic metres) for a week and it's costing us $325. You should be able to find someone in the Yellow Pages. We have so much junk that we can't get the car in the garage or indeed walk in the garage. We have a room at the back of the garage that we use for storage and that too is full of rubbish. The kids have been given fair warning to collect anything that belongs to them if they want it or it goes.

Good Evening CC.

I hope your computer problem is sorted soon - I am distressed to know that your equilibrium is unbalanced, that will never do.
You can borrow my mouse if you like, it even has an illuminated dongle.

You won't get a better offer than that.

Tec.

Hi Sue,
I've sort of been watching Poirot on TV but I fell asleep!
It's cooler today. i'm going to bed in a minute.
Hi Tec. my mouse has got a dongle as well. My mouse and your mouse must be twins!
CC Bath is a nice place. I studied Northanger Abbey when I was at school so it was interesting to see the places Jane Austen mentioned.
My brother in law got me a mouse for my laptop. It'a lot easier.
I'm going to bed now. I've got work tomorrow!

Good evening CC and Tec

Good morning Sue

CC I only commented that if you were anything like me then you would be a rebel without a clue I didn't actually call you clueless :0))

Sue, dodging raindrops and lightning flashes today and waiting for a response from my daughter as to whether she will bo going to Perth with us at the beginning of June for our great nephew's first birthday.

This is the nephew we know so well already as we still receive weekly photos of him: sometimes as many as 200 and none of them any different from the previous week's

Goodnight Pat and good morning Allan.

I remember you writing about the many photos you see of your great nephew. Proud parents:-))

We had dreadful weather yesterday. Torrential rain which caused flash flooding and threatened to burst a small dam. Here's the link to our local rag with info about the evacuation. It was very scary as the radio has constant warnings and then immediate evacuation advice.

Sue, that would be very scary!

Fortunately, where we are there is nothing to fear like that.

Now a tsunami would be a different matter!

Good Morning Sue, and Allan,
Good Evening Pat,

As my first post vanished, I shall start again.

Pat, I'm so glad we apparently have twin mice - mine is called Donald, what's yours?

Allan, We also are overwhelmed with photo's of a relatives children, and have been for years since they were born. As they are now young teenagers we must have hundreds.
We are of course fond of the children, though hardly ever see them, but what are we supposed to do with all the photo's?

Sue, Today I went to view the items that will be auctioned tomorrow locally, nothing of special interest to me, so won't be going. Lots of seriously antique furniture, some of it beautiful, but we seriously do not need any more furniture here.

Had a PM from Diane, she is ok, still has her cough, and wishes to send her love to everyone on the thread.

Tec.

Good evening Tec. Is that Donald Mouse or Donald Dongle?.

Fortunately for us, all the photos come via email so we can just delete them!

Nasty great uncle and aunt that we are!

Allan

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 26 May 2010 23:04

It'll be Donald Dongle Allan, the mouse is called Mac.
I'm a right silly burger really, but harmless.

You are fortunate the photo's are e-mailed. Ours arrive three or four times a year by post, mostly blown up, and in fancy cardboard frames.
Then followed by a phone call to check that they've arrived.

"Yes, they've arrived - how lovely - they do look well - my how they've grown - thank you so much"

How two faced and nasty we are - Grrrrr..........LOL

Tec, our other gr nephew and nieces are fine: we get the occasional email with a photo, just letting us know how they are progressing. But this one :0((

Still, we will go to Perth for his birthday which is from 11.00am until 1.00 pm a four hour journey in total for usas the family live in Joondalup which is north of Perth

Hello Tec. A trip to wander around looking at antiques sounds like heaven. I don't have the kind of house that would showcase antique furniture but I have some lovely knick-knacks that I've collected over the years. Some were bought in the UK and packed very carefully to bring home.

That is a long way to go for a birthday party Allan, but I expect it will be nice to catch up with the relatives.

I have been busy converting my 1932 black bakelite telephone into working condition. The conversion kit arrived today. Can't wait to hear it ring. I'll phone the operator and ask for "Trunks" or are you too young to remember that?

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 26 May 2010 23:25

Tec we never had a phone until I was 12 and then that was an office phone. My mother worked in the office which was the front room of a house. The house went with the job and we would sneak into the office at night in the dark to use the phone!

I remember my aunt having a phone with a shared, or party, line
