We didn'thave a phone either when I was young, only "posh" people had them, like cars. televisions etc.
Do you know, my mobile phone died on me six months ago, and I've never replaced it, and do you know what? I don't miss it a bit.

Sue, I love poking about the auction rooms, because it's a farming area the old barns get turned out sometimes, and it's truly amazing what turns up - things like butter churns, dolly tubs, and all manner of fascinating junk, as well as the quality furniture that comes out of country houses.

Tec - it's the old bits and pieces I like. I also love old cane pieces. I bought a lovely stand at our local market for only $10 awhile back. It's on the front verandah covered in plants and I've had so many comments about it. We were on holiday one time in rural Victoria - actually not far from where our Carole lives - and we found an old junk shop and happily spent ages digging through boxes of old stuff. We bought some old postcards and I even bought some old birthday cards and "sweetheart" cards from soldiers in WW11. They were bought for pennies.

Allan - we have family in Joondalup. OH's cousin and family.

Sue, what a coincidence. Most of my family are in the northern suburbs although one nephew lives in Ellenbrook to the east

Eeeek - I've just had a phone call asking me to do a radio interview tomorrow. The butterflies are doing somersaults in my tummy:-)) I've done it before but I had plenty of notice. I've now got to read up on some facts and figures.

Sue, I also like bits and peices. I especially like old photograph albums. I love old photo's but find it very sad that someones ancestors end up amongst a load of junk for sale to the highest bidder, usually just a couple of pounds.

Well, I'm off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue,Allan, Berona if you pop in,

~~~~~~~~to Diane, who is going to bed.
Goodnight,
Tec.
Hello whoever is left,
Would someone please enlighten me. Who is Dianne?????? With the fancy preamble?????
SueMaid you have a hidden talent obviously. What’s the interview about?
Allan, good side trip going to Joondalup. Play golf. Marvelous course there. And it didn’t terrify me as much as I expected it would when I played it. Beautiful.
Ah Pam. Missed you again.
Diane? She's a much missed member in the UK who decided to take a break from GR for awhile. She is a lot of fun but she just won't go to bed so we always tell her off. Diane can still read our chat.
I work for a charitable organisation that provides equipment and services for cancer patients. We quite often get a spot on our local radio station if we're making a push for donations. At the moment we are working to provide new specialised beds for the oncology ward at our local hospital at a cost of $50,000. Normally our publicity officer does the interviews on radio but last year I was interviewed, photographed for a newspaper and had a spot on the telly after a presentation from the University in our city. I was teased by this lot at the time. Our publicity officer is unavailable tomorrow so I'm going to do it. I don't mind if I get notice but I'm feeling a bit nervous about it. The funny thing is I can speak with no problem to large groups of people but radio interviews worry me a little:-))
Hello everyone:-)
Pam, our Diane is part of us, she is taking a break from the site for awhile - hopefully she will be back soon:-)))
Diane if you are reading this, I hope your cold gets better soon xx
Sue, You'll have to tell me where that junk shop is:-) I love old stuff!! I once found an old desk, it was falling to bits - so I had it lovingly restored, though my OH has claimed it for his study!!
I hope your interview goes well, I remember the last one you did. You'll be fine and do well:-))
Sorry Ive not been around, Ive been catching up on some family tree stuff - Ive got back to another generation after receiving some more certificates, its all very exiting. I'm now waiting on more certificates:-))
Its very wintery down here, Ive unpacked the thermals - I think I'll go into hibernation:-))
Stay beautiful, keep smiling:-))
Good afternoon to Pam, Carole and Sue.
Pam I don't play golf but WA does have some nice courses.
Carole the weather here is wet and miserable, but I'll not complain about the rain.
Sue, how did the interview go? How much do you charge for autographs? :0))
I may be late on tomorrow, if I am on at all. It will be a late night for me tonight and for the next two thursday nights as well :0((
It looks like I'm the sole representative of the Northern Hemisphere at the moment - Well, who did you want? - the Prince of Wales!
Today has been bright and sunny, but with a rather stiff cool breeze coming off the Irish Sea. It was particularly clear, and I could see the cliffs and some buildings on the Llyn Peninsular across Cardigan Bay. Very often the Peninsular is obscured by sea mist, and on the days it appears to have moved much closer to us, then that means rain is imminent.
I went to the garden centre to buy 16 geraniums to plant up some tubs and pots for the summer. I like them because they are reliable and give a nice bright show through to the autumn frosts. My garden is looking good at the moment, the flowering shrubs look great, the early roses are out, and there's a good show of peonies and flag iris. Now I've got some hard work to do, preparing the site for the water feature.
Carole good to see you back, sounds like you've made good progress with your family tree - makes it worth all the effort doesn't it?
I believe there is a footie team near you called the Melbourne Demons, and a good footballer, Russell Robertson - have you heard of them?
Sue I hope your media celebrity spot went ok. Please don't let it change you - we don't want you changing into Dame Edna.
Pam how are the juvenile birds doing? are they getting noisy?
Looks like CC is still up the creek without a paddle - I hope she gets connected soon - I miss her quirky take on lifes tribulations.
Tec.
Hello everyone:-))
Tec and CC - my interview is today (Friday) and I'm nervous. I assure you I won't change and forget all my friends. Fame isn't all it's cracked up to be:-))
The weather here has been cold, windy and wet. We badly needed the rain but I'm sick of it already. We're never happy with the weather.
Good Morning Sue,
I'm quite sure you'll be your usual charming confident self - I've been interviewed three times on radio, and twice on tele - after a few minutes I forgot anyone was listening/watching,and just talked to the presenter.
On the video replay I didn't recognise myself, and it certainly wasn't my voice LOL.
