I just read out your post to OH, Tec. He "chortled" at the thought of me fetching the paper and breakfast:-))

Good morning/evening all, and a special good morning to SueMaid - it it's OK to call her that now that she has had so much exposure to celebrity status. May we still call you Sue?

Seniously, I am so glad it went off well and you were made to feel comfortable during the interview. I think the people who conduct the interview know how to make it easy for you.

Yes, we actually had some rain on Thursday and again early this morning but it has stopped for now.

Tecwyn Report 28 May 2010 23:57

Do you mean to say you don't fetch these things Sue?

Now that your OH is retired he should have breakfast in bed, with the morning paper, and coffee, and his wardrobe laid out for the day ahead,

while you run his bath, and warm his slippers...........

My OH says he agrees wholeheartedly - but it ain't going to happen:-))

Berona - you may continue to call me Sue. Fame has not changed me:-)) Seriously it was fun and such an experience to sit in a studio and see how things work. I even had headphones on and spoke into a microphone. After the interview I was given a little tour of the other studio which wasn't in use and I learned a little bit about broadcasting. Very interesting.

I must be off - this site is playing up and really annoying me. Talk later.

Well I must away to bed as it's midnight,

Enjoy your day Sue, Berona, and Allan.

Hello Pam,

I think they have all gone on their merry way for the day.

Do you mind if I come up and live with you? That's my kind of weather - although I don't like humidity - if you can arrange that, I'll be on the next plane/train or automobile!

It rarely rains where I am (Western Sydney) but we did get some rain on Thursday and a little very early this morning - although the forecast is for rain all weekend. I'm sure the weather burear forecasts rain every week, knowing that they must be right some time! - but not necessarily where I am.

Darn, looks like I"ve missed everyone again.

Got my day off to a flying start with cleaning and resorting the store room. That's exhausting. Will do more maybe tomorrow. Lots of stuff that could be chucked out.

OH has just gone up the road to help our a friend. She's an injured wildlife carer and has been doing this for many years. At her own expense, I might add. Someone wrote a letter to our city paper complaining saying that she only does it for her own self aggrandizement and that she takes the animals to town to show to tourists.

The only time I know of that she takes them to town is when she has things to do and animals that need to be bottle fed every 2 hours and need body warmth because they're too young to maintain their own temperatures. She has made these special "pouches" which sling over her shoulder by a strap and she puts the animal in those wrapped in baby blankets to help keep them warm.

Someone saw her showing one of the animals to a tourist in town and hence wrote the letter to the paper. Now she's got the RSPCA down on her saying she has to build special enclosures for the animals etc. at her own expense. For goodness sakes, these sick animals get to live in baby day cots inside her house. You can't put them out in a fenced in yard. They'd die. I just don't understand people. She's been very successful at making wildlife better and releasing them back into the area from which they were found when they're well But some interfering busybody has to come along and ruin it. For her and, I daresay, for the animals as well.

Prospective wildlife carers won't come forward after this kerfuffle.

Now that I"ve sounded off for the day, I better be off and go see if I can get my mobile phone fixed.

And no, he actually didn't come home with a new TV. We'll keep on using the little one until we 'save up'.

Cheers.

Pam.

We had hours of heavy rain here today, but I'm not complaining as we needed it. Now 7-45pm and the sky has cleared, and the sun is out.

It is a Bank Holiday weekend, and next week is school half term. The weather has not deterred the tourists. I took a break from decorating this afternoon, drove to the supermarket, but nowhere to park the car. When I did get into the store, it was like Christmas Eve, packed with huge queues on all tills, so as I only wanted one item I walked out again, and got what I wanted in a smaller shop. More expensive, but less hassle.
It seems the world and his wife have descended on us. I hope the weather improves for them.

Pam, I am sorry to hear that your friend has incurred the wrath of the authorities. It seems that some people just can't mind their own business, and are just intent on causing mischief for others.
It does make one question the motives of the RSPCA. Would they rather sick and injured animals were left to suffer and die because no one can be bothered? Are they afraid of true animal lovers encroaching on their territory? Surely they have enough to do with their own work, with limited funds, without coming down heavy handed on someone just doing their bit to alleviate the suffering of wildlife.

I get so cross about this kind authoritarian bureaucracy, and I do hope that your friend can continue with her kindness to animals.

Tec.

Good morning/evening everyone. Hope you are all well.

Pam - how dreadful for your friend. We can't do anything out of the kindness of our hearts without bureaucracy stepping in.

The charitable organisation I work for is governed by a government office called Games and Racing. They make sure that what we are doing is above board and no-one is pocketing money etc. and also give us guidelines on running raffles and other fundraising ventures. We have no problem with this as it protects us as well as anyone who donates. However they have now decided that anyone who fundraises for us must do a “profit and loss” form. Some of our supporters have now stopped having morning teas, raffles etc. because it’s not worth the hassle. It’s very annoying for us but it also creates bad feelings from our supporters as they think we are being pedantic.

Allan Report 29 May 2010 23:08

It depends on the weather, Sue.

If it stays fine, I'll wash the car. It hasn't been done for a while and we be going up to Perth in it next weekend.

If it rains, then weeding the back garden in between showers.

It is calm and overcast at the moment but we've been warned to expect dreadful weather through the day. Gale force winds, heavy rain. The dam that threatened to burst it's banks has been worked on through the week but they're still warning people in the area to listen to the radio and be prepared to go. The telly and radio have been full of warnings and it's scary because I've never noticed this before. OH says he thinks it's in line with the new emergency warnings from the SES and government since the bad bushfires in Victoria.

Good morning/evening all. Hope you are all well?

Pam - we have the RSPCA like you have - and we also have an organisation named W.I.R.E.S - not sure of the exact name, but W stands for wildlife. I think both organisations do similar work, however, the WIRES people 'repair' wildlife, then volunteers take them into their homes for the convalescing period, before turning them back into the wild. My DIL is one of these volunteers and she is always doing another course at Tech to improve her Animal Nursing standard. It is all volunteer work.
