We are fine thank you Sue,

Three weeks into our new government, and a senior Cabinet Minister resigns shrouded in scandal..........oh dear - here we go again.

The more a thing changes, the more it stays the same Tec!

Oh dear - what has he/she done? It's nothing new. We've had our state transport minister resign as he was seen leaving a gay club in Sydney. That wasn't the problem. The big sin is that he drove the ministerial car to the club after dismissing his driver for the night. He is our local MP and a former lord mayor of our city. He is married with two sons so I feel for his family. The trouble is he's a great campaigner for the region and I feel it's a shame he will be remembered for the scandal although he is getting much support from his constituency.

You would think that after all the shenanigins of the last lot, that they would check that any future minister would be sqeaky clean - but it is a Sunday paper digging the dirt.

Allan Report 29 May 2010 23:44

Not the "News of the World" again, Tec?

Allan

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 29 May 2010 23:44

This man was Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

He apparently was claiming £940 a month mortgage payment on a second home, that was actually the home of his gay partner of nine years.

The Sunday Telegraph this time Allan.

Thanks, Tec.

The other paper was the first that sprang to mind!

It was the News of The World that recently did the sting on the Duchess of York - but she was the architect of her own misfortune, so I have little sympathy.

Our local council is no more and we now have a board of administators. We have been riddled with scandal for a number of years. A town planner having "relationships" with builders and being bribed with holidays etc. to pass building applications. Bribery and corruption was rife. We've had a lord mayor who was murdered by a former victim of paedophilia - yes the lord mayor was part of a ring of paedophiles as well as a couple of well known business people in the city. We've had a corrupt lord mayor who rorted the system constantly over a number of years and didn't admit to having an interest in businesses that were being supported by local government. I could go on and on......but it would bore you to tears.

It is amazing that so many people in high office are apparently consumed with greed - they already do very well with perks of the job.

Even more amazing that very often "it is not in the public interest to pursue the matter"
What does that mean?

Had I have fiddled my expenses when working, I would have been sacked, and probably gaoled.

I can't sympathise with Sarah Ferguson but the News of the World need to have a good look at their methods of reporting news and obtaining their stories.

I do think some of these people believe they are above the law. I'm just reading about gangsters in Sydney and Melbourne. It's very interesting to find that past state premiers, top police and magistrates were on the "take". It's probably not much different now.

Sue, you don't live in Summer Bay do you? :0))

I read about the shenanigans at that particular Council!!

Mind you, in WA we have had our fair share of Coucils being sacked for Corruption. Many of them local to this area.

Years ago, the Shire Clerk of Margaret River, with Coucil approval sold the Shire Offices intending to build new ones. When they had a loan poll, the ratepayers knocked it back. Council had to rent the old offices back at an extortionate rate.

Even this week at the City of Bunbury, one of the Councillors has been reported for not declaring an interest in some issues. Her partner is one of the biggest developers in this region and was also a Federal MP.
