Good morning Berona.

how are you this morning?

Tecwyn Report 31 May 2010 23:56

Allan, Some people are unbelievably rude - and ungrateful. Why I am always surprised I don't know. Thankfully they are in the minority.

Good Morning Berona,
Hope you enjoy your drive, It must be awful driving with a sore back, but hopefully that will wear off soon - I do hope so.

Well I'm off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Allan, and Berona,
~~~~~~~to Diane,
Goodnight,
Tec.
Berona
Berona Report 31 May 2010 23:57
Allan - it's a case of being so fed up with feeling sore, that I'm no longer waiting for it to get better - I am trying to live with it. I just can't stay in the same position for very long.
When I first get comfortable, it hurts, then settles and it doesn't hurt while I hold that position - but the longer I stay in one position, the more it hurts when I move! Does that make sense? I think that somebody up there doesn't like me for some reason.
Good night Tec
Berona, yes it makes sense. Please take care when you go for your drive.
Were you affected by the recent storms or did they bypass you?
Berona Report 1 Jun 2010 00:11
Tec - I had a similar experience. I have done the research and there is no way my family (mostly in Glos) ever married someone in my OH's family (all in Lancs) until my own marriage. However, the Hot Matches showed that one person from each of our families married in the nineteenth century.
I contacted the owner of the tree and asked for details but received a very curt answer (using lots of big words) but basically saying that with thousands of names in his tree, he doesn't have the time to worry about periferal names and doesn't intend to try working out the relationship.
I had never given him access to my tree. I had given access to real relatives so perhaps he got it from there, but he would have to be a 'name collector'. He didn't have to be so rude though.
We had the 'severe' warnings for the whole weekend, but then the weather man changed his mind. We had light rain practically all day Saturday, nothing Sunday, and occasionally showers on Monday. We have bright sunshine but clouds to-day. The only wind was on Saturday and it wasn't bad, even though the news was that Sydney had heavy rain. Where I am, on the western side of Sydney, the stormwater drainage was only put into place less than fifty years ago - whereas the older part of Sydney has old pipes and an ever-increasing population which causes a lot of the problem.
Oh good Joan - we haven't scared you off. I also buy the book of raffle tickets rather than try to sell them.
Berona - the problem with the people who were - shall we say - less than honest has been resolved. I stopped "talking" about it because I thought I was getting rather boring. We resolved it by calling a special meeting, laying the cards on the table and after much blustering on their part we accepted their resignations. It was one of the options our solicitor gave us and worked out best for all concerned.
I miss not talkiing to you all in the morning but I shall be back on Friday - hopefully:-))
Hello, not sure if anyone is here at the moment. So I'll just go through and read the posts since last I was here.
Hope all are well and happy.
Cheers,
Hello Joan, nice to welcome you in.
I haven’t been here long and all these lovely people have taken me in to their very friendly site.
South Aussie, eh? I’ve only been there once and that was to play golf at Tea Tree Gully. Are you anywhere near there? I used to live in Sydney at that time but have now moved to Paradise – Kuranda, north west of Cairns, Far North Qld.
I’m glad that no one was unduly bothered by the storms forecast. I’m familiar with that sort of thing being up here in cyclone territory. I remember how scared I was when cyclone Larry went through and we were only on the edge of it. The gum trees were bending almost in half. Lots of sticks and broken branches to collect on the 14 acres after that lot.
Now that it’s winter it’s time to get the grass back under control Some of the clump areas are over 12 feet tall and that’s going to take some doing to get it back into line. Most of the gardens have survived the ‘wet’ season well. Many of the hibiscus and ginger bushes are going to need to be pruned back. We might get it done and ready before the next ‘wet’ season.
Having these torn tendons in my shoulder is slowing me up considerably. Can’t do a lot of the heavy work but I putter around and am told that I am contributing and am a help. I do a lot of the watering and fertilizing of the pot plants.
No one seems to be here at the moment. But I’ll pop back later. Going to play Pacific Harbour slots for a bit. Makes me sleepy watching all those wheels going around.
Pam.
Hello to Pam and Joan - and anyone else who might be around.
I usually 'talk' on here between 7am and 10am (Eastern Oz time). With seven hours difference, that means it is 10pm to 1am for the Poms, so we have a couple of hours to chat before they begin saying 'goodnight' to us, and only the Aussies are left! (Opps - sorry Perse - I mean Aussies AND Kiwis).
However, I am still on tablets which make me sleep late and I don't get to do much chatting at the usual time, so I pop in throughout the day and evening.
I too start reading from the last time that I posted - only sometimes there are so many posts to read, that they have all gone to bed before I catch up and start talking to them! I think most of us do that, so it doesn't matter what time it is - just post and sooner or later someone will answer!
Hi Joan, Berona and anyone else who's there.
That's OK Joan. I"m trying to navigate my way around time zones, too. And imagine the fun when we have daylight saving here in Australia and then we Qld'ers are 1 hour behind NSW, Vic, etc. and then your time changes for us, too plus NT. And the job I do sometimes necessitates me interviewing people by phone in other states, including WA. Now that is a nightmare.
But we all have the same difficulty in here so, as Berona says, just put your post in and someone will see it and comment where needed.
For those who aren't typists or fast on the keyboard this works better because they don't have to keep up with the speed of a chat room. They can be a pain. And all the abbreviations drive me nuts. I find that the vast majority of them are superficial. This way is more like having a conversation with a group of people with the opportunity to say what you think or impart information without being constantly "interrupted".
I must say that I enjoyed my trip to and visit of South Australia. We went from Sydney out through Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Wilcania (now that was an experience and a half), to Broken Hill where we spend a few days looking around and visiting Silverton. The we continued in to South Australia and stayed at Mintara in the Clare Valley for several days before proceeding on down toward Adelaide. Came back via the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne where we visited friends and rellies before driving back to Sydney. Took 6 weeks to do it altogether.
I frequently drive from Cairns to Sydney so spend a couple of months visiting friends and rellies. People are amazed that I do it on my own. But I drive from about 8am to 10am, stop and have a break, continue on until about 1pm and have another break then drive again until I feel I've had enough for the day and then stop for the night. I sort of bunny hop down the coast and stay with friends and family along the way. It is a long drive, though. Over 2,500 klms from Cairns to Sydney. But I do enjoy it.
Hello anyone who is around. Again a quick visit.
Pam and Joan I gave out this website ages ago but you might find it useful
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
This gives a list of the times in major cities around the world - the asterix next to the name of the city means the time has been adjusted to daylight saving time. Hope it helps.
CC - what a darn nuisance with the taxation dept. Where on earth would they get false information that prompted them to change their details? Or will they blame the computer?
Hope you all enjoy your day/evening and I'll hopefully catch some of you soon.
Hello Pat - didn't see you there because I type so slow. My daughter loves the Twilight books.
Good evening/morning to all
Joan, as the others have said, don't worry about the time differences as it will make your head spin. WA like Qld doesnt't have daylight Saving time which means that we are out f wack with every body including the Brits.
The time that appears in the posts is UK time.
Pam, I'm not sure that I could drive that distance. I used to do Leonora to Perth in a day but that was only 900 km.
CC what a taxing time you are having :0)) My main problem is not with the taxman but with my Superannuation Fund. I discussed an increase in my pension payment and was assured everything was ok. I then received a letter confirming an entirely different sum than I requested and when I queried it I was told that the figures for July on which my payment is based, will not be available until September!
Nothing was mentioned about that at the meeting I had with them up in Perth two weeks ago!
Actually WA is seven hours ahead of the UK at the moment.
Oops - that was me who deleted. Totally wrong!! The poor old brain isn't working properly.
I meant to say that the east coast of Oz is 9 hours ahead of UK time (which is shown on our posts).
Western Australia is 7 hours ahead of UK
NZ is 11hours ahead of UK.
Morning/Evening all.
Berona, I think I"ll just keep posting and hope for the best. Maybe one day I'll 'connect'.
CC: Hey, if any of these people who work in Govt. were in private enterprise they’d all be out of business and on the dole now. I think it’s how the Govt. manages to “create” jobs. Put more cretins in with the other cretins.
SueMaid: I use that website before I come on here but it just seems that I can’t get me synchronized. It ain’t the clocks fault. Thanks anyway for taking the trouble to give the tip.
CC: Am trying to find out what I can for you on that street in Woollahra. Yes, it is a suburb or Sydney. There is a site called the Botany Bay Family History Society which might be worthwhile googling. I don’t know though that they are as recent with their info as 1954. Could be worth a look. I”ll see what else I might be able to find out for you.
