Good morning, Janet

I remember colour TV when it first came into general use in the UK. Sets were so expensive that only wealthy people could afford them. That was sometime in the late 1960's.

But even then not many shows were made in colour.

OH and I rented our first colour TV in 1972 in order to see the Olympic games which were being held in Munich, and the whole event was marred by the murder of some of the Israeli athletes.

hi Sue...Hope you feeling better soon. Disneyland that was great I remember. I wondering if anyone can help me with a show I use to watch but cannot remember the name of. It started with a little cottage and the girl walked through the gate and read a story was it The roundabout or something like that I think the girls name was Lisa?

Hi, Janet - I don't recall a children's show like that. It wasn't the Magic Roundabout was it? Although I think that was animated.

Good Morning Sue, Janet, and Allan,

Sue, I hope you will soon be your usual happy self. As Allan said, we all seem to go through these periods, but it never last long. I was a bit down in the dumps for a few days recently, but soon recovered, though it's heaven help anyone who crosses me during those spells.
Winston Churchill also experienced spells of gloom apparently - he called it "The Black Dog" and people learned to keep their distance until he felt better. I hope your little dog gets on ok at the vets.

Allan, We were taught nothing at school about Australian involvement in wartime, and very little about our own military involvement in either World War I or Two - maybe in my time at school it was still too raw, too soon after. There were several lads in my class who's mothers were war widows.

Janet - I wish so much that I had asked my mother a lot more questions while I had the chance. Another thing is that I wish I had done my research while she was still alive. I have discovered so much about her family that she didn't know, and would have been fascinated by.
Now it's too late, I can think of a thousand questions I should have asked.

I loved the Magic Roundabout, and the Woodentops - my daughter was a big fan too, but she was only 4 to 5 yrs old at the time - I was older.

Tec - I love some of the shows the children watch but I find myself singing the songs. I even wake up with them on my mind:-))

Ahh, they don't make childrens programmes like they used to.

And even though you could see the puppets' strings it still seemed real to the kids.

There was also Muffin the Mule, Andy Pandy, and of course, Bill and Ben, who have done more to promote Weed than any drug dealer :0))

I liked the little Weed - much put upon.

Hi Susanwithnumbers - how are you?

At this moment there is a television presenter on the screen - rarely off -Graham Norton. Have we inflicted him on Australia yet?

We got Rolf Harris, so I guess we're now even if you get Graham Norton.

SueMaid Report 8 Jun 2010 23:47

Yes - we have Graham Norton:-(( Thanks a million, Tec. Can we swap back? I think Rolf is slightly better....slightly.

I'm sorry Sue - I can only apologise, the only good thing is that while he's over there, he's not over here.
You may keep him - send him to the outback to work with a lot of cattle ranchers or something - he'd love it.

I'm sure he would:-)) OH can't abide him.

Why not send them both to New Zealand?

The kiwis would never notice :0))

Allan, Are you trying to provoke a war with that last remark LOL.

Graham Norton really irritates me - but not as much as another presenter we have here - Jonathan Ross - do you get him too, please say no.

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 9 Jun 2010 00:07

Tec, I've heard his name and he was mentioned on another thread, but I don't think that I have seen him.

If I have he didn't make an impression one way or another, obviously

Alan - You have been spared - He recently lost his six million pound contract with BBC Television after making some very lewd and unsavoury remarks about another celebrity
s daughter.
He is well known for making crass remarks, and is embarrassing to watch interviewing intelegent people.
He was formally the most well paid presenter on the BBC.

Yes, Tec - we do have Jonathan Ross here. On satellite telly. Didn't he make horrible comments with that other idiot Russell Brand about Andrew Sachs' daughter. Very distressing for Sachs.
