Hello Linda
And here was I worried in case you got quilticated )which at least would be self inflicted) on your holiday and then poor thing you go and get ill and your hubby as well.
How awful - I am probably a miserable sod but I would feel very short changed if I was sick on my holidays.
Hope you are feeling heaps better now.... and fighting fit - how's the foot?
Persey xx.

Tec - I will send some Leek and Potato soup down to Dunedin for your Welsh footballers - I really would like them to get a fair go... not sure what they will be up against. Our All Whites - the soccer team seem to be up against cooking fires over in South Africa - apparently where they were practicing was also where there was some sort of cook out and it was smoke gets in your eyes and in your breathing etc and so a work out became exhausting with about 40 mins.

Perse xx

Hi Joan

I passed through Salisbury so am sort of familiar with the place. Five wheelie bins - not only Allan will be envious I am rather partial to the wheelie bins.

Perse xx

Hello Berona
Hope you are getting better and better er and better est with each day that comes along.

Love Persey xx

Allan - Sorry that your submarine story got beached. xx P

Well it is 1.30am here so am away to bed

Take care the rest of you

Thank you CC = We are fine, and did have a good nights sleep, though I was up at 6 am, and out in the garden by 7 am, finishing a job I started the day before.
Put that "nice young mechanic" down, and shame on you bribing him with money plants.
I wasn't on holiday in Bombay - it wouldn't be my first choice - merely taking a break from the claustrophobic environment of the ship I was working on.

Perse - The Welsh Rugby Team will really appreciate your leek and potatoe soup, but I fear it will fill them with such a sense of "hiraeth" - home sickness - that they might not stay for the game.

Good evening Tec

Linda, sorry that your holiday was marred by your infection. Some of those bugs can be transmitted faster that you can say the same. There have been a number of Cruises in recent times where people have gone down with the Norovirus with devastating results!

Pam, if you are looking in, there have been somereplies to your thread on TTF.

Hi Persey: Beached indeed! If that was me I'd complain like Hull.

CC, many thanks for a job well done

Hello to Joan

A question to determine whether you are an optimist or a pessimist: When you put your wheelie bin out, is it half full or half empty?

Ours is usually overflowing and I can almost bet that it wont be picked up by the garbos :0))

good evening, although it is nearly bedtime/
It has been so cold here for the last couple of days, I have had to go back to jeans and fleeces which is ridiculous for this time of year.

Tec, a lady does not have Dehli Belly, she merely feels "unwell"

Perse and CC,you have put a curse on my foot by mentioning it again. I was just thinking that it was a lot better, but I turned round suddenly this afternoon and felt the sharp pain across the top of it again, so It is aching now. It will settle down again if I ignore it. I hope that your foot is fully recovered now Perse

Hello everyone:-))

Linda - what a shame your holiday was spoiled by illness. I hope you got some enjoyment out of the trip.

I can't believe we can talk so much about wheelie bins. I will be shot down in flames here but I find the common everyday bin boring. Now on a street near us one household has decorated their bins very nicely. Flowers on one and a beach scene on the recycling bin. That's somewhat more interesting:-))

Oh no Sue, you can buy those wheelie bin stick on scenes here, but they are so tacky....well they would have to be to stick on

SueMaid Report 10 Jun 2010 23:06

Errrr Linda - are you saying that I have bad taste just because I find the average wheelie bin boring? I am the epitome of good taste I'll have you know - right down to my fluffy pink slippers.

Sue xx

Oh dear Allan - I thought you'd gone off to make a cuppa. Gulp.....sorry:-(

Another sketch can now be added to the list of those of historical value.

Sketches done within days of each other but of two different Forts built in the same locality, one of which was constucted to replace the other!

That is excellent Allan, you must be strutting about with your chest puffed out by now.

Of course you have good taste Sue, your blue rinse looks very fetching

Good Morning Allan,
Good Morning Sue,
Good Evening CC,
Good Evening Linda,

Linda - Apologies if I offended your sensibilities - of course you were "unwell" how very un-gallant of me.

Sue, Wheelie Bins are an integral part of this thread, and we should support each other in our little eccentricities - however bizarre!

CC, You may temp me anytime - with anything.

Tec.

*Slaps* Linda.

Allan - you must be very proud of how things are going with the sketches. Of course the icing on the cake would be to find out more about your ancestor. I wonder if he changed his name for some reason?

Off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue, and Allan,
Sleep well Linda, and CC.
Hi to Diane,

Goodnight,
Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 10 Jun 2010 23:29

Like a bewildered Churchwarden, CC has lost the plot :0))

Sue, on my grandfather's marriage certificate his father is shown as Joseph Mortimer, but it is quite possible that Joseph married a widow with a child or children. Possibly not even a widow.

On the 1911 census, my grandfathers place of birth is given as London but no trace of him.

It is possible that once the sketches get into the wider arena, someone may recognise the style and be able to provide a few more leads :0))

SueMaid Report 10 Jun 2010 23:35

Allan - I couldn't find OH's great grandfather after his birth until his marriage 1894 and his appearance on the 1911 census. His father had died soon after his birth and his mother had remarried. He had taken his step-father's name. Linda found that out for me. This family had been a great mystery to me but Linda helped me break down the wall and I went back another 3 generations. Working along those lines helped work out another family mystery.
