Hi Berona. We have to be so careful these days.

Hope you are well - or at least improving.

Hello all,

Who the heck is Graham Norton??? I feel I’m missing out on something here.

As for Barry Humphries aka Edna Everidge, you can have him too. Saw him one time in a regional airport in Queensland with his wife and a ruder more obnoxious man you would never meet. Was berating his wife because this small airport didn’t have a VIP lounge. I ask you? Who the heck did he think he was??

Hmmph!!!!!

Rolf’s OK. Used to love his TV shows where he would do paintings on walls with an ordinary house painting brush.

As usual I think I’ve arrived as everyone else leaves/or has left. Not to worry.

It’s been a rather eventful few days. I’ve been cleaning out cupboards and putting things in piles to go ‘out’ that we haven’t used for ages. I’m just hoping they don’t manage to skip back into the cupboards. Spoke to a friend who said anything I have to throw out could probably be used up on an aboriginal cattle station in the Gulf. So they won’t be wasted.

Tomorrow I’ll start on drawers and see what sort of interesting paraphernalia I find there. I heard a person on TV one day who was advising how to decide what to throw out and it was suggested that you empty that ‘one’ drawer in the house called the junk drawer into a box and anything that’s left in it after a month, throw out. I might test out that theory.

Time to go again. Got to water plants. Pots are drying out very quickly these days.

Cheers,
Pam.

Hello Pam. I'm glad you asked who is Graham Norton. I've never heard of him either.

I like Dame Edna because she is naive and always accepts people as they are and thinks well of them. I wish he would leave Les Pattison at home, though. I don't like him.

Rolf doesn't interest me when he sings but I did like him in the days when he sang while he drew pictures.

Graham Norton is an Irish comedian Berona and Pam. He has morphed into a chat show host. he is gay (nothing wrong with that), but he is fairly camp. He is one of the highest paid people on the BBC. He can be funny, but some of his stuff is a tad on the rude side. I much prefer him to Jonathan Ross, he repeats the same tired old formula of smut over and over again

Allan, once my brain wakes up, I will try and do some sleuthing for you

it is sad that so many of the younger generation seem to have no idea how to cook from scratch. Apart from the fact that it is healthier, it is also cheaper as well. I love making large vats of soup, I eat some and freeze the rest.

I have been searching for Allan (well his ancestors) and have found lots of info for him, assuming that it is the correct family of course. I am sure I had his email address, but I must have deleted the old messages,so I will have to wait until he wakes up and gets in touch before I can send him all my goodies.

It is absolutely freezing here today. I have reverted to jeans and a jumper, I even have socks on, just like winter.

No one around? You all must be glued to the football

Good Evening Linda,

I feel as if I've overdosed on football, and haven't seen anything remotely exciting so far.

Wales was crucified by NZ at the Rugby match. I knew they would be. We haven't beaten the All Blacks in 57 years.

England did rather better in Australia.

Good evening/morning all

Linda, i have responded to your pm and to your email. It certainly looks like the family and it all ties in.

One point of interest, although I never met Agnes in person, I always knew her as Aunty Jean. The first time I saw her as Agnes was when she was awitness at my parents wedding.

My sincere thanks for all the information and in such a short space of time.

I was taught to cook by my mother: at first it was just helping her when she was baking and graduated to full meals later.

As I went to an all boys school I never had 'formal' cooking lessons.

At one stage I was thinking of becoming a chef but that thought didn't last.

I now regard myself as a "competent" cook, but entertain no illusions about being on something like Masterchef :0))

Hello Linda and CC - I'm on late because we stayed up late to watch the Aussie game:-)) That was after a dinner out with daughter, future SIL and the children. I have to say that my daughter keeps her children in line when out for dinner - they were wonderfully well behaved.

I cook from scratch and I taught my 3 to cook as well. My daughter cooks very well and her fiance even better. He's experimental and has found ways of getting the children to eat vegetables and fish. He has found too that if he gets our 3 y.o. boy to help him cook a meal he's more likely to eat it.

It looks like being a lovely day today although cold. The sun's out so I may work in the garden again this morning.

Hello Allan and Tec - you snuck in while I was typing.

You are most welcome Allan, I am always willing to help any one if I can, really I am just trying to avoid my own brick walls. I have read your pm, but there is no reply to the email.

People are confusing when they use different names. The use of middle names instead of the first name is a long standing tradition in my family. have always been known by middle name as well. I only use my first name on official documents. The odd thing about your Agnes is that her middle name was Josephine not Jean.

Hello Tec and Sue.
I noticed that we beat the Australians at Rugby Tec, but of course I wasn't going to mention it (well not much)

SueMaid Report 19 Jun 2010 23:09

My father's aunty was called Jennie although her name was Jane Ann. Very confusing when I was a novice researcher.

Yesterday evening (UK time) Rambling Rose offered look-ups on the 1911 census as she had a free offer on FMP. As I was doing some research at the time I asked her to look for someone whose death I couldn't find at the time. The poor fellow turned up in Leeds Union Workhouse age 70. He had been widowed twice, lost two children and ended up in the workhouse. The great thing is is that I received 3 offers of lookups by PM from people who have a subscription and are happy to help as well as a lovely lady who gave me the address of the workhouse in Leeds. I hope it wasn't too bad a workhouse as it housed a few of my ancestors.

Not too interested in the rugby. Now if you want to discuss the very harsh send off of Harry Kewell.......on second thoughts let's not discuss it:-))

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Jun 2010 23:34

Sue, the red card to Harry kewell was very harsh - but sadly there seems to be a glut of over zealous ref's in this World Cup.

This confusion of names actually used in families, as against what people were actually Christened seems to be commonplace.
I was never known by either of my Christian names at home, but called something else entirely. Members of my extended family have been amazed in recent years to discover I had other names. This caused confusion with solicitors when left a small legacy by a relative, and nobody apparently knew who I was.
My real name was only ever used at school, and when I started work.

SueMaid Report 19 Jun 2010 23:40

So......is your name really Tecwyn:-)))

I'm always surprised to hear my children called by shortened names as we and other family members call them by their full names. Luckily we really like our grandchildren's names. We have a friend whose new grand-daughter is called Marina Oceana because they say she was conceived when they were on a seaside holiday:-) She doesn't like it at all.

OK Linda, and once again a big thank you!

Tec, my apologies for not acknowledging you before now. Put it down to excitement!

lol, Sue. Let the Aussies play the Brits: probably end up with negative goals each :0))
