Hello everyone
A good result! A bit stressful to watch and that is putting it midly!

Linda, that's great. It's amazing what some of these stores have stocked away that they don't know about, isn't it? I wonder what happened to the good old days of stock control and stocktakes at the end of financial year and all that stuff. I can remember one of my first jobs was in a Woolworths Variety store. We used to have to count the stock in the whole place even down to individual paper clips. Still, we had a few laughs doing it and we got paid, so what the heck?

Yes, having the body the way it was 10 years ago would do me. If only it would stay that way. The aches and pain of arthritis is really depressing, I find. At the moment, with all these tests coming up next week, I'm off all my medications for the pain so it's really taking a hold. Still. could be worse. I keep reminding myself that there are loads of people a darned sight younger than me who have far more serious medical situations than I have.

One of my main prerequisites for living out here in the sticks (literally, at times lol) is that I have a hot good water pressured shower available.

We went on an electricity saving binge a few years ago and turned off everything that we really didn't need to have on. Like those standby lights on so many of our electrical appliances. One of the things we did discover was that it wasn't necessary to have the electric water pump turned on all the time. This is the pump that, when you turn on a tap anywhere, the power comes on and pressurises the water through the pipes. We discovered that for many things the gravity feed was enough and in fact we didn't waste as much water as when the pump automatically kicked in. So now, if we need extra pressure we just flip a switch and voila! There it is. We have switches in the kitchen, bathroom and also out on the side wall of the house for the pressure washer, gerni, etc. Saves us a heap on the power bill, too.

No worries about the confusion, Linda. I, too, have the same thing happen to me from time to time. Goes with the territory, I think.

Pam.

Hello Patricia, Glad that you're pleased with the result. I can't say that I would expect to have the same satisfaction from our Aussie team. But...... who knows? It's in the lap of the gods and for this series the 'gods' seem to be wearing a ref's uniform in many instances.

Linda it's great that you found the matching tiles, what a stroke of luck. Just shows that it's always worth asking - you never know. I tiled the whole of the bathroom and shower last year, using 22 sq mts of tiles, but kept four spare boxes in case I needed them in the event that the shower wall had to be dismantled if there was a problem with the plumbing inside the wall.

Pat, the last few minutes of the match were nerve wracking to watch. As Linda said, strange how one day the team are rubbish, and suddenly they become heroes.

Pam - I like your theory of being born old, and working towards youth. I have always thought it strange that, if we're lucky, we spend 70/80/90 years being educated, learning how to cope with life experiences, then we die, and take all that knowledge and experience with us - what a waste!

Well I'm off to finish trimming miles of hedge. It's a very pleasant evening - much cooler now.

Tec.

Hello all who are here. OH stayed up for the England game went to bed and two hours later I got up for the Aussie game. I was woken up by a shout from the living room so I knew England had scored. So far nothing for Australia but we're playing well. Luke Wilkshire is playing an excellent game. He is a local boy and played soccer as a junior at the same time as our youngest boy. His brother is still playing locally.

Talk later - I'm off to watch the second half.

:-((( 2-1 but not enough. They played a great game but the first game was our downfall. I really felt for them because they put their all into the game. Now let's hope NZ continue their great run and England does well in the next round.

Oooh that's a defeatist attitude Linda - but you may be right. Does anyone else feel like slapping Rooney whenever you see him?

Hello CC - of course the experts tell you that you shouldn't worry about other people being worse off and concentrate on yourself. That may seem selfish but it's not.

Well.......we have a governmental leadership challenge and it's highly likely that we may have our first female Prime Minister. Rudd is being challenged by the Deputy PM Julia Gillard by this afternoon.

Yesterday we had our daughter's eldest as he was off school with a cold. He is always such a pleasure to have around but I'm constantly amazed at how clever he is. We knew that he would be good at reading and writing but is surprising us with how well he is reading. He has picked up plurals and punctuation really well and he's only in kindergarten. Of course there are other children who are doing well but he's way ahead on his reading.

lol Sue,

I was only sick CC because I was upside down. I should have got Sue to come and defrost the freezer for me, she is used to being upside down,so she would have been fine

SueMaid Report 23 Jun 2010 22:39

Linda - we changed our old chest freezer to a small front opening freezer. It has drawers and I find it really easy to store food and it's also easy to defrost. Just leave the freezer for next year and I'll do it then for you.

I will remember that Sue,
I could have a tall drawer freezer as it isn't in the kitchen. I will probably get one of those when this one dies, but it is fairly new,so it will last a long time yet. i only need to defrost it once a year,so it isn't too bad

Well, I was very excited, I got two numbers on the lotto, but that was all do it is back to penury

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 23 Jun 2010 22:54

Our old chest freezer was over 25 y.o. We didn't have it in the kitchen but in the outside laundry. We don't really need such a big freezer now. OH built a storage cupboard in the laundry and the freezer sits on that so we don't have to bend down to take stuff out of the freezer.

If you win the Lotto I'll definately defrost your freezer Linda. Then you can put us up for the night in your beautiful big 5 bedroom house. We don't take up much room and I can give you references from the many people we land on.......er stay with when we visit the UK.

Well, it is currently four bedrooms, but as three are unused, you are most welcome to "land on us" for as long as you like

Good morning/ evening to you all.

Linda I thought that you lived in Yorkshire not Penury: isn't that near the scottish Border Country?

Or am I thinking of the Irish Boarder? He was a fine poet.

The above is not what is actually written but how you are comprehending it with that rush of blood to your head.

Well more a trickle really as the cold environment of the freezer would have impeded the flow.
