Keep dreaming Pam.

I know Sue, it is pretty amazing isn't it.

Well it is midday,so I had better go and tidy up a bit before it is time for lunch and then I am volunteering in the tourist office this afternoon. We had loads of Aussies in on Monday looking for B&B's. They always want the cheapest possible lol

We'll hold you to that Hollzy although I don't think you realise what you're taking on. We have Aussies from Queensland, Victoria, NSW and WA, a Kiwi and of course our Poms including our lovely Welshman. We can race your personal cruise ship but of course you realise you have to supply the crew. We intend to be waited on.

By Pam - I hope you manage a better night.

Enjoy the rest of your day, Linda.

Hollzy I'm off too so please join us again. We're a friendly mob. We usually do most of our chatting with the Poms early in the morning our time which is during the evening in the UK.

Enjoy the rest of your evening - it's been good chatting to you.

I think it's probably better to join you lot, as you are sssscaring me!!
maybe it could be the aussies vs the rest of the world.
(no!no! what am I saying!!)
I'll leave it at 1 cruise ship to pick up all of us,I don't want to upset the arrangements. I'm getting too stressed out and wouldn't enjoy myself. Nite all, thanks for the chat.

Phew is all I can say - my you lot have filled in so many pages since I was last on.

Was all set to talk politics and then Sue said that discussion was finished - But will say we had a Woman PM. Woman Attorney General, Woman Chief Justice and we have had a woman Governor General - very much a petticoat government at times here.

Then I thought well I could talk about Linda and her liking for falling down holes even when she hasn't been imbibing.

Then someone mentioned Hobart - well of course that would be me love Hobart - love all of Tasmania - and you can travel for miles without seeing another car.... unlike the NZ roads.

Hollzy - Hi - I am Persey from way down at the bottom of the world (not bottom of the freezer) our country gets left off some maps. Linda will be booking us all in a posh place to stay in Malta - this will be our reunion course we have to win some money first. I am the resident Kiwi - but unlike them I do fly to Oz from time to time.

Pat - our boys from NZ are playing at 2am our time so you can imagine what it is like here - we have gone football crazy - one family were all watching the NZ - Italy match all at the same time in different parts of the world - two of them were in a café in Germany and at the end of it they stood up and did the haka much to the consternation of the rest of the patrons.

Hope all is well with you Tec - I believe Berona is improving day by day and will be ready to trip the light fantastic and do a tango or two with you.

Allan - only had a glimpse of you since I last posted - hope you are okay it is not like you to go quiet?

~~~~~~~~ to Janet and Diane.
Also haven't seen Joan or Colin for awhile.
Thinking of you Carole take care.
Talk to you later Pam and Chocolate Cupcake.
I have to read my books from the GR Berona but I have just got out the second Stieg Larsson book from the Library and I would rather read that.
Love Persey
Berona Report 24 Jun 2010 13:09
Perse - I'm still at the early stages of the first book and I'm not getting into it much. I ordered both books, but they only sent one, which I found on my doormat - then a week later, a card was left in my letterbox (again!) to say the other book was at the P.O. if I cared to go and get it.
That means the delivery man got lazy again and didn't bother to come up to my door. I was at home all day on both days! I'm fed up paying postage and having to go to the post office - so I've already closed my account with one publisher and I'm thinking of closing the other one. I don't know how I'll get the books without making a convenience of my daughter to get them for me. She does more than enough for me already.
I sent an email to our local MP complaining about the couriers and he answered to say he would contact Australia Post - but haven't heard from him since.
Hello everyone - I trust you are all well.
I won't be on too late today as I have more interviews to do.
My mum comes home this evening and I can't wait to pick her up. I've missed her more than I expected to. I hope she has really enjoyed herself and this trip has given her the confidence to go off again although I think we'll probably take her down to Hobart again in spring. Bit too chilly at the moment although my son says the weather has been sunny if a bit windy.
What a lovely day it has been.
I was right about the Aussies in the tourist office. One couple came in and wanted bed and breakfast. as cheap as possible. When I said the average price in the area they wanted was about £33 to £35 per person, the woman said that other tourist offices had managed to find her ones for £30,so I looked on our computer booking system and managed to find them an excellent deal for only £26. That was fine until she discovered that there was a £2 booking fee, so she decided that they would just drive around and see what they could find. What a noodle, she didn't know the name of the one I found and most of the local ones were full in any case,so they would end up having to pay for one of the expensive ones and use all that petrol, just to save £2
Hello Sue, we posted together. I told you that your mum would be fine
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 24 Jun 2010 22:13
Hi Linda. We nearly always use the tourist office to book a B&B. We give them a price range and let them do the looking. Well worth the booking fee and saves the stress of searching for a decent place especially when we don't know the area. We've also stayed in pubs and Travelodge motels.
Good Morning/Evening Everyone,
Welcome to the thread Hollzy - I'm known as Tec, I'm a Pom, and I live in North Wales.
Sue I hope your mum had a wonderful time, and maybe made some friends on the trip.
So - you have a Welsh Prime Minister! I wish her well, but watchout - Welsh women don't take any prisoners, and I do know what I'm talking about LOL.
We had a female Prime Minister once - her name was Margaret Thatcher.
Discretion being the better part of valour, it would be expedient not to comment further.
CC. I don't know why you would be suspicious of a guy being friendly and sociable. I talk to strange women all the time.
Tec.
All the ones registered with the tourist office have been inspected, although some are better than others, we have pubs and hotels as well, it all depends what people want.
Tecwyn Report 24 Jun 2010 22:20
Good Evening Linda,
We never seem to get any Aussies here, I don't think they know about us.
We get lots of Dutch, German, French, used to get American and Japanese, but not many for last few years.
Tec.
SueMaid Report 24 Jun 2010 22:29
Hi Tec - you talk to strange women everyday on here:-))
Linda - we stayed in a lovely pub in York. The rooms had just been renovated and as we were the only ones staying at the time we were spoiled. We were just near the walls of the city and a twenty minute walk to the centre of town. The publican was also the chef and he made us a very hearty breakfast. We asked him to fill our flask with coffee before we left and he handed us our flask and a packet of sandwiches and biscuits - no extra charge. We also stayed in a pub in Abergavenny - it was dreadful but they made us a great breakfast.
